Im not saying he will beat him but if he does, wheres does he go? will you call him P4P #1? Superfight with Floyd? Margarito? Mosley? Williams? Clottey rematch?
:spankme:
I always feel like this: To be the man you have to beat the man...so if Cotto beats the #1 man after all that he has done at Welterweight...hell yeah he deserves the #1 spot. Who else has fought better compitition and beat the current #1 guy??? Why should he not deserve the top spot?
you could also argue that mosley got robbed in msg.
No you couldnt really...
You can call it a draw at best
Had Cotto beaten Margarito he wouldve been a strong contender for p4p #1 (according to HBO july last year). With that loss somewhat tainted and if he would beat Pac I'd consider him p4p #1 or #2 depending on whats gonna happen these next couple of months.

nope cause cotto outweighs pac by 10 lbs on fight night.. but if he beat pac and floyd, its possible.
Superfight with Floyd?
maybe. floyd might decide to fight pac anyways.
Margarito?
maybe. cotto has shown interest in a rematch.
Mosley?
I hope so.
Williams?
never.
Clottey rematch?
maybe. depends on the money.
He is clearly being a smart ass since the close victory win Cotto had in a tough battle with a handicap.

it should set up a BIG fight w/ mayweather, assuming he ever returns.....
but cotto definitely won't be p4p #1 in my book. dude has lost 2 of his last 3 fights, beating pacman doesn't make him p4p the best in the world.
When did he lost a second time???
I have a feeling Cotto is going to sell out and fight Pacquiao at a catchweight and end up getting embarrassed by getting whooped probably because he isn't used to the weight class and his body probably isn't used to lower weight anymore so it would be harder for his body to adapt well at lower weight. At 147, I think its a fair fight 50/50 that could go either way.
if he didn't loss to Margarito yes i would say he would have been P4P #1 if he beats Paquiao, but if he beats Paquiao then he would be Top 5 P4P:boxing:
