In my mind I saw the fight 115 - 113 for Cotto. The round I bolded out were close rounds and could have went either way. Round 2 Clottey landing those upper cuts did it for me in that round but Cotto was still active and fought a close contention. I scored Round 10 for the Champion Cotto he hit Clottey with some good body work and out did Clottey's late left hook with a better one near the bell. I thought Clottey did NOT do enough in the last 3 rounds to win any of them. In the 12th round Clottey did more complaining to Mercante then he did fighting. If he would have stepped it up sooner in the round rather then in the last 30 seconds or so he may have won the fight. I agree it was a close decision and the 166-111 was off but 114-113 and the 115-112 were pretty much in the ball park depending on hw you scored rounds 2 and 10. Anyone ne else have anything to add????Lefty

The red ones are the ones that differentiate themselves from your perspective. Anyway, my final scorecard: 115-112 for Cotto. I distinctly remember rounds 2 and 10 being hard to score, though. Round 10 especially...Clottey was boxing fairly well but Cotto got in two big left hooks at the end that could've had him stealing the round. Overall, what a great fight!
114-113 Cotto. Gave him rounds 1, 4, 6, 10, 11 and 12. Clottey won the rest. 6-6 but 1 extra point because of the knockdown.
You Posted the exact same thing that was in my mind lol
115-112 for Clottey. The Grandmas:rofl::rofl:r tapped that ass.
LOL how many times are you going to post your score cards. It has been like 5 times already
I had Clottey winning 10-9 until the knockdown. To go from 10-9 Clottey to 10-8 Cotto is a three point turnaround. I could see that if Clottey was flattened and truly hurt. But not all knockdowns are the same. This particular knockdown - IMO - doesn't call for a 10-8 Cotto round.
He caught him with a hard jab at the perfect time and scored a legitimate knockdown. If you don't give him the 10/8 round, you're screwing him out of something he earned, and giving Clottey something he didn't. Shitty thing to do in any world. I had Cotto ahead by 2. He took the win, but not by the 5 points the morons who scored the fight thought he did. Shameful.

Round 4, I have watched the fight several times now and waiver on this round to Cotto or Clottey, but even giving it to Cotto it's 114-112 Clottey. I don't see any other point where Cotto could have won a round. Granted Clottey could've thrown more punches to secure the win, but Cotto didn't do anything to actually win the fight.
I agree. I scored it 10-8 Cotto. However, it's not absolutely necessary to score a round 10-8 because someone is knocked down.
In some cases it's necessary to just score it 9-9. Like when Barrera was beat up against Marquez in the 7th, and knocked him down late in the round.

I think it can be flaw in the scoring, especially when the kd is more of a trip.
In this case it was a perfectly timed punch while his opponent was walking in. You deserve an extra point with a kd like that.
And I don't think Clottey was winning the round before that either. It was pretty much even.

115-113 For Cotto
I gave the 4th and 11th to Cotto making it 114-113 Cotto.
I thought the 11th was closer than the 4th but I still gave it to Clottey. He pressed the action & landed the harder punches while Cotto was backing up trying to shoeshine.
1st - 10-8 Cotto Even though I thought Clottey had won the round till the KD.
2nd - 10-9 Clottey
3rd - 10-9 Cotto
4th - 10-9 Clottey
5th - 10-9 Clottey

Completely unbiased and objective.
After watching it 6 times, that's the same exact scorecard I have.

so you scored the round even before it was over?
I understand your point of view...I just have never scored a close round with a with a flash knockdown of 1 fighter a 10-9...It has always gone 10-8 for me and I think for most of people who use a ten point must to score a round.
Off hand I can't think of a time I have either. But this is an interesting case.
Will you concede that the first round may have been even on some people score cards...with out the knockdown?
Of course. :-) It's the differences in opinion, and what we value in scoring a round, that make this sport fun.
