The Official ITV4 Saturday Night Boxing Thread

Well boys it's time for the big one. As always the focus is one of boxing's biggest tomato can killers..... Tyson 'the gypsy king' Fury Big man, bigger mouth, quick hands, no head movement. soon to be laid out like a beached whale once he gets in with someone decent. But will he come up against that someone decent tonight? or will it be some dave they found on monday who will be getting his head smashed in to pay off the loan sharks? What music will tyson come into, will we see another dance to the ring accompanied by a michael jackson tune? Will Duke mc kensie be watching the same fight as us? Does Barry Mc guigan really think Dazzling Darren barker can mix it with Pavlik and Abraham? Its the biggest card of the night, and the coverage is here. Best of British, you slaaaaaaaaaags.

If Murray lands one of those shots he landed tonight on Khans chin Khan would be sparked out on the floor. He'd kill Khan.

Did anyone here see the Steve Barnes fight that came on after the main event?Barnes is an 18 year old undefeated pro and he went up against my new favourite fighter Jevgenijs Kirillovs!( 0-2-1)If anyone saw the last big fight live theyll remember that Kirillovs fought Bradley Evans to a draw over 4 rounds .I swear Kirillovs has no skill whatsoever but thats the reason he's kept me so entertained in his last 2 outings.He makes itv prospects look sooo bad and uncoordinated (almost as much as he is!) very early in their careers.You have to see the Barnes fight , i laughed so hard until i hurt! especially when before the fight Brendan Ingle said that Barnes would be a champion within 4 or 5 years! He is the reason that itv arent renewing their boxing contract lol!

With a gun maybe, but in the ring? No chance. Murray got hit a lot tonight by Lawton and Khan is twice the boxer with twice the speed and twice the power. Murray's walk-down style would not match up well, especially considering Khan's new style under Freddie Roach. Khan would dominate and probably stop Murray late. Very good post and agree, murray has too many faults and with an experienced trainer like roach khan would pick him to pieces ALSO Murrays punches arent THAT strong on their own, he just has a high workrate

Have you ever seen a worse fight than the Barnes one? I can't recall one. Barnes looks like an idiot trying to imitate Hamed. All he does in lunge in with loopy, inaccurate shots and then wrestle. Distinctly unimpressive. Murray looked good, but I don't think he'll ever be a World-beater. Maybe he'll pick up an alphabet belt, but nothing more. Khan would box the shit out of him.

It was a good fight. I'm not normally supportive of early stoppages, but I thought the referee made a reasonable decision. However we all see fights differently so I respect your opinion. I also dont see anything wrong with the stoppage, Lawton doesnt seem to want to be in there in the last couple of rounds, he wasnt throwing towards the end i definitely agree with the stoppage.

I just thought if Scott could hang in there a few more rounds It would give him an openning to get a KO even though he wasn't landing as much like the early rounds. It wasn't a major fight but it was for a title and by the looks of it as soon as the body shot landed he might as well have gone to his knee so the fight could go on if he wanted to and not go on and take the shots and have it ended like that, depends how determined he was and if he believed that he could win in the later rounds. Either way very good fight :) It was a good fight. I'm not normally supportive of early stoppages, but I thought the referee made a reasonable decision. Murray dominated that fight, Lawton was landing some good uppercuts in the 3rd and 4th, Murray walked through them, then that right hook to body hurt Lawton. Was a bit surprised that was stopped quick.

It wasn't a great stoppage, wasn't a particularly bad one either. Lawton was overmatched and was hardly throwing anything. I'd like to see Murray step it up now, the first decent boxer with a bit of power he comes up against will destroy him.

Khan kicks the shit out of Murray. Seriously. Yeah i reckon Khan would outbox him for most of the night and then stop him in the later rounds, it would be a good fight though, murray would put up a hell of a fight

Ugh... usual British stoppage. What do you mean? While Lawton was landing a couple of good shots each round, Murray was landing some great combos and was riping Lawton apart. Lawton got destroyed by that right hook to the body and didn't answer back when Murray was landing at will. An acceptable stoppage.
