Some of you are picking Clottey to win?
Okay, that's fine.
But how, exactly, will he do this?
Clottey needs a stationary target to be at his most effective.
When has Cotto shown himself to be stationary?
Even when getting the piss beat out of him by Tony, Cotto was still on the move.
And some of you are picking Clottey by KO? :lol1:
Clottey couldn't even KO a shot, blown up, at the end of his fighting career Diego Corrales.
What makes you think he's knocking out Cotto?
This fight is a 12 round decision if I've ever saw one.
In favor of the more versatile fighter ; Cotto.
I'm not picking Clottey but here's how I think he can win this fight, even if Cotto moves on him, which Cotto should do.
He needs to use his jab and come forward behind it and the high guard, bring that jab back in quick because Cotto will counter with something sooner or later. Keep Cotto moving or punching, don't let him take a break, keep those arms up and tight when Cotto is punching so that his body punches don't do too much damage. Push Cotto back to the ropes with the jab and starting letting his hands go. Lean on Cotto on the inside and throw uppercuts. He can't let Cotto get off first, because if he does then Cotto will control the tempo and thr distance of the fight.
He needs to cut off the ring on Cotto, can't just follow him around behind the high guard, Cotto will just potshot him all night if he does that. He can't lunge in like he does sometimes, even though he's tough to catch lunging in, he can be caught, especially by a guy with good timing like Cotto.
You guys know how Clottey likes to double and triple up the left hook. Well, after he throws that double or triple left hook, transition it into an uppercut up the middle, that can really do some damage since Cotto's right hand and elbow could be high or low from blocking the hook leaving himself open to the uppercut, he's open to the punch as it is but it could leave him more vulnerable if Clottey does this.
He needs to work Cotto's body early and often as well to make Cotto tire in the later rounds. Don't be afraid to get a little rough with Cotto, he should be the bigger man during the fight so he has to make that count.
Can't let Cotto put too many rounds in the bank early either, he might need to dig himself out of a deep hole if he does that.
Anyways, that's what I could think of right now. Again, I'm not picking Clottey but that's how I think he can win this fight.
It's not like Cotto could of stopped Judah.. Without the 2 low blows SMH
Judah had cotto shook in the first, he is lucky Zab didnt finish his ass in the first round.. I dont remember Judah ever making Clottly even Wobble in their fight..:baby:
My memory is a little hazy.....who one that fight again?
That would help..
Nah but if Clottey's durable enough, I think he has more then enough in his arsenal to get to that soft chin.
Will see man, I called Cotto winning in the 9.. :)

Let me start this off by saying I got Cotto taking this one. I can see why people think Clottey will win:
Clottey has shown he can hit a moving target because Zab Judah was not stationary. Joshua was landing straight rights while Zab was on the move and while he was giving Clottey upper body movement.
Cotto will stop to punch and won't be able to stay on his bike for 12 (as Margarito showed, duke was exhausted mentally and physically) so he won't be stationary only.
Cotto is susceptible to uppercuts; especially when he goes to throw body shots (it's how Margarito stopped him from throwing to the body), Clottey throws pretty good uppercuts.
Clottey's defense is very good, so as long as he is in that shell Cotto won't be getting much (if anything) through.
Clottey lands eye catching shots (like another poster already said) and when other fighters have landed on Cotto it's real visible.
I'm pretty sure Clottey has had the best training camp of his career. If he can average 55-60 punches per round he'll be winning this fight on points.
Cotto is suspect to uppercuts.......he bends his kness slouches over and starts his attack.........thats his curse.......a slow wide puncher like Marg was able to land over 200 power shots on Cotto........plaster cant help ya connect rate.........Cotto is kinda tailor made for Clottey because of Clottey's love for the uppercut.......Cotto is USUALLY the bigger man on fight night.......so he's been able to impose his will on dudes and break theirs in the process.......thats what Cotto does BEST!........but tonight he'll be the smaller man and we'll see if he'll be able to break Clottey's will because we know Cotto can't run all night like he did against Marg so at some time he'll stand and trade and get rocked.....because Cotto gets rocked in ALL his big fights........to pick Clottey by KO is NOT that far off IMO........styles make fights!
Mosley didn't rock Cotto and Mosley is a much harder puncher then Clottey is.
Clottey couldn't even finish off Diego who was way past it at the point he fought him.
You forget that Mosley is a bigger fighter then Cotto too.. and to me, this fight will be somewhat similar but with Cotto winning it more decisively because of Clottey's inactivity when he is in his defensive shell.
To me if a fighter can make his skills work in harmony the fighters overall level is greater then the sum of his overall parts. To me Clottey is the negative of this, he is solid all around but his overall level is less then the sum of the parts of his game.
He does a lot of things well but they do not flow together in a way that allows him to maximize his talents.
He is a very good fighter but unless he has something in his bag of tricks that I am unaware of, I do not like his chances. I could get +325 on Clottey, those are pretty healthy odds, that I have not even considered laying money on.
Cotto had every advantage over Margarito except stamina and chin and he still lost.
Margarito is a totally different fighter from Clottey, though.
His workrate and chin are leagues beyond Clottey's IMO.

Interesting.
Coto fought like a moron against Margarito, thus allowing Tony to land those uppercuts.
There were times in that fight where Cotto would literally sit on the middle rope, to catch a rest, and in the process, lean into about 5 Margarito uppercuts at a time.
I doubt Cotto will ever fight that stupid again, and I expect him to show some clinching ability if Clottey gets set to unload his shots.
There's a chance Cotto will fight stupidly against Clottey, but I doubt it. And Clottey would need a better workrate, and better conditioning to capitalize on that even if Cotto fought that way.
I'm not saying it's going to be a blow out.
I expect a gritty UD, with some potential fireworks. Depending on whether or not Clottey can find a way to get his shots off against a moving target.
But expecting a KO from eithe guy is ludacris IMO.
Cotto has proven himself incapable of breaking down bigger, stronger opponets like Mosley and Margarito.
So I doubt he'll get the KO.
And Clottey couldn't KTFO of a prime, jawless, Roger Mayweather on his best day.
I really don't see it being that close of a fight. Cotto has every advantage he needs to win the decisive victory.
Perhaps that's me writing off Clottey....
We'll find out soon enough.

The logic of some of these users, I'm telling 'ya.
My only regret is that I don't know any of them to bet real cash with them in real life.
How the hell is CLottey a better fighter than Cotto? Because that's what you're saying when you say he's "greater than" him.
Clottey doesn't do shit that Cotto doesn't do better. He's not a notoriously hard puncher, his workrate is a bit overblown around here (he does take breaks throughout the fight), his boxing ability is below Cotto's, etc...
The only advantage I give Clottey over Cotto is a slight edge in the defensive category.
But one advantage doesn't exactly make for a "greater" fighter.

Some people remind me of the people that were betting me huge sums on Lennox-Tyson. Every conversation at the party went like this.
Some dude "Man Tyson is gong to kill Lennox, that pussy brit can't take teh heat Tyson will bring"
Me "O rly, do you want to bet on the fight"
Some dude "hell yea I will bet any ammount on Tyson, how much do you want to bet"
Me "I will bet any ammount you want" (flashing some money so the dude would know I wasn't bullshitting)
Some Dude "Alright your on I will bet $$$$, I am taking your money"
Me "cool I look forward to the fight"
This conversation repeated itself often on that night.
B-Hop Tito (Winky Tito also) was another one, but that was a much more delicate situation afterwards if you catch my drift.
Ass sore Tito fans, gotta love 'em. :lol1:
I know my boxing and I think this is a 50-50 fight. The thing is Cotto is very hittable, Clottey throws eye catching shots.

He could not knock out Judah either, although he should have got a stoppage with the cut it is not like he starched Judah and really did not look like he was going to starch him either.

Clottly > Cotto
Willng to bet all my points.
