Let me start this thread by stating this is not a flame Floyd thread, nor does it have to do anything with what Calderon said today, I wanna know who is the best pure boxer in the sport, who is the one that "hits and doesn't get hit"?
calderon gets dropped by journeymen, therefore floyd wins.....
and "pure boxer" is the stupidest term ever......like inisde fighting is not boxing?and all those guys people regard as "pure boxers" make a shitload of basic mistakes, but get away with it thanks to their athleticism....
The results are pretty even to be honest. Also, I think people are taking to much of the resume involved in this, when this is really all about comparing skills, not camparing resume.
It does not matter, some people will never say something good about Floyd on here therefor could never vote for him. Your question is clear, but this is the level of bias here (this is just how it works here, it works like this for all fighters that are good enough to draw some heat but Floyd is the epitome of this).

:alcoholic i must be focked up cause i dont see pacman in the poll answers, but pac is a great and exciting BRAWLER and we are discussing BOXING SKILLS here. sorry bro but manny is not a finesse boxer :boxing:
Check what I quoted. Some pacman fan was talking like Pacquiao is a technical boxer. So I commented on it.
Pacquiao is in no way, shape, or form a technical boxer.
and you're ok when they say mayweather/calderon? the guy took out hatton in 10, a split with odlh... pac took out hatton in two and tko odlh, what does that say about his boxing skills?
the guy is regarded as an atg, most accomplish boxer of this era, regarded as the best southpaw of all time and yet he is not a pure boxer? go have a cup of sdfu dude
Pacquiao is more of a brawler than a Boxer, that's common knowledge... seriously, all Pacquiao fans should know this. He has good Boxing skills, but he isn't the best pure Boxer out there... you must have been mistaken of what pure Boxer means.
They asked a question, I responded to the thread. PR gets all nuthuggery, argument starts. Don't worry though, me and Champ always argue like this. He knows its no hard feelings.
i know we had a couple of arguments too. but i gave a tie in this one just because floyd got more pop in his punches :boxing:
Pacquiao is a power puncher, a slugger, stand and bang. He is great but dont make him out to be what he is not. This Pacquiao love is getting way the fuck out of hand. In no way, shape, or form is Pacquiao a boxer a.k.a technical fighter.
Mayweather and Calderon are technical boxers. They dont hope to inflict large amount of damage in a short amount of time. They use their brain, chip away at you, and then finish you when the time is right. The difference between the two, Mayweather knows when he can and cannot finish someone. Which is why, Mayweather gets a ton of decision wins and is still undefeated. Thus, called boring.

That is not all there is to it, Floyd is great on the inside. Calderone is a pure outside boxer if someone can make it an inside fight with him I do not think he will do well, but because he has great legs that has yet to really come about.
They are both very good, but they do things very differently. I think Floyd can do a decent Calderone impression fighting (although only to a certain level), I do not think that Calderone can do all the things that Floyd does which is why I say Floyd is better. It is like picking between a diamond and a ruby (to me).
good post, don't forget floyd has reach, calderno dont
floyd hits harder

Not true. The shoulder role, chin tucked in,avoiding and slipping punches on the ropes... that's textbook defense.Roy Jones used speed and reflexes but Mayweathers defense is textbook stuff.
you really need to see calderon fight, he got all those skills you mention :boxing:

They go about things in different ways, Calderone is a much more pure outside boxer while Floyd both does the inside and outside thing. If we are talking about who is the better pure outside boxer of these 2 I would have to say Calderone, but the better overall boxers as a whole is Mayweather because he can do more things. They both have great skills though.
floyd hits harder

Calderon without a doubt!!!!!!!!!!
Calderon have a better defense and is a more textbook fighter, FLoyd depends more on his reflexes and quickness
lol, from the guy who hates Floyd. Unexpected? I think not.
Floyd doesn't rely on his reflexes and quickness. He uses intellect first and then his athleticisim. Otherwise he would be like Roy Jones Jr, great athletic abilities then age sets in and he gets creamed. Since that is not the case, Floyd is a better boxer than Calderon. Floyd hardly ever gets hit flush, only time I saw him hit flush was Judah's check hook. Has only touched the floor, touched not dropped, twice in his career (Castillo and Judah). I cant think of a more complete boxer in the history of the game, other than Floyd. Probably why people think he is so boring.
