What does everyone think of Edwin Valero?

He does have a good future but also has technical flaws which includes his defense. He always puts his hands down and becomes open to punches. Another thing is that he hasn't been tested against quality opposition.

He knocks ppl out. How can anyone dislike him. He goes in and does what he's suppose to do.

Yeah, I actually saw his fight with Barrios, and I was more impressed about his offense in that one. I just think the fight with Soto would have been more exciting if he didn't decide to totally coast. But yeah, you've gotta give credit to Soto's chin for that. Another bad thing about Guzman is he's so unreliable. He pulls out of fights at the last minute and he destroyed practically all of his credibility by failing to make weight against Campell. I know Campell went on to fail himself but at least it's known that he really couldn't make the weight. Guzman on the other hand is still fighting as a lightweight. What's up with that? Yeah, I'm gonna be off the bandwagon if I don't hear anything soon. He declined to fight Zab Judah at a catch weight of 143, then Juan Diaz declined him to face either Paulie or some other dude, can't remember his name. Fact is, Guzman should have taken the Zab fight, he needs to understand that he is in no position to face the Bradley for his title at 140.

Against Soto, Guzman landed a mean left hook in the 8th (Can't remember) it snapped Soto's head back but Soto wasn't hurt at all, in the 2nd round, Guzman tested his power against Soto and there, I believe it was when he saw that he couldn't hurt Soto and decided to box. To each their own. I like to watch slick fighters ply their trade as long as they have intentions of doing some damage with their punches. Mayweather and Hopkins fall in that category, even though both guys have coasted to decision victories before. Guzman and Whitaker are the totally opposite of those two guys in my view. They showboat a lot and try to look pretty, and I'm not into that. Fan of Joan Guzman here, it isn't because he is Dominican though. I love the slick defensive accurate counter puncher type, one with really good movement. I don't think Soto gave up against Guzman. But I agree, that he probably has trouble with mobile boxers. I don't think anyone can look good against Guzman. No offense, but I'm not a fan of Guzman's stlye. There was a time in his fight with Soto that he literally turned his back to him and ran. I think he might have to change his style, I mean he has the speed, well coordinated fighter but something is missing, I'm scratching to see what it is. In his last fight, he couldn't deal with the guys movement and seemed very discouraged. Against Joan Guzman, he stopped trying to win. He broke down mentally and Guzman proceeded to break him down even more, by clowning him. Sad to watch really. I agree, Oscar Larios was shot but I can tell Linares will become something big. This guys good. 24-0 all ko's thats impressive. Alot of em coming from the first round. Idk he looks like he could be a great future champ, but look at nas. He did very well till he came up to barrera. Proving he wasnt good enough to play with the big boys. Do you guy's think Edwin is? I think he needs to train alot more. He could deffinetly be better, but right now hes doing good. I think he is too old, and hasn`t gone up against any elite fighters. He only has to cash in once on that `0`, then he retires defeated.

Superb Punching Power, a one punch KO artist. Since Valero's fights last an average of 4rounds, his true test will come when a hard-chinned fighter takes Valero into the later rounds. Mike Tyson was a KO artist...that is until "Quick Tillis" (James Tillis) took tyson into the later rounds. His stamina will be tested, and being used to having short nights (one rounders) can make a world of difference.

I know Guzman was a bad style match up for Soto with his herky jerky style, but I need to see Linares do something noteworthy before I heap praise on him like a lot of other people are doing. He's a good one to youtube. You usually can see the ko's cuz they usually happen pretty quick. :) Yeh i've never seen a full fight to be honest. Just highlight reels But i know his dangerous from all i've read about him

Valero has knocked out everyone. He knocked the guy out that ko'ed Santa Cruz in 2 (the guy that got robbed against Casamayor) Almost three years ago he had a war with Mosquera and was dropped once in the third, but knocked Mosquera down three times. Soto is a good fighter but his weakness is a good boxer. Jorge Linares would easily outbox the guy. Shit, Joan Guzman's little brother (Jose Guzman) would probably beat him also. i like ortiz better. he has power but like kev said, hes untested victor ortiz has fought better opposition than valero.

I dont know much about Valero.. All i know is his a power puncher who knocks everyone out he fights with the exception of 1 isnt it? and i could'nt name 1 face i know on his record
