They should still show the fukking fight.
Wlad/Chagaev will be a much better fight than Wlad/Ibragimov
Chagaev is tougher and more agressive than the faster defensive Ibragimov. He is willing to walk through fire, take big punches and he will be going for the KO.
I absolutely agree with you on this. You do not pass up a potential great bout in which the winner is crowned "The Ring Champion". If an American network doesn't pick this up then I will agree with you completely about America being biased towards Eastern European Heavyweights.
Ibragimov was a well known big name in America. He had 2 American PPVs against Holyfield and Briggs and he was on ESPN, showtime, etc.
Most of Chagaev's fights are in Europe and he's only been on American TV a fews. A lot of ignorant Americans don't know who he is.
I am a Yank and know who he is and many of my coworkers do as well. You are making the argument for me. Ibragimov was exposed through all different media outlets which prompted HBO to air the fight. Chagaev is the complete opposite. It has nothing to do with being white ,Russian or Muslim Iggy proved that, it all comes down to exposure.
Do I have to play Ring around the rosey with you?
The casual fan doesn't know shit about Chagaev. They want the Haye fight. That's the fight worth watching, and that's the fight that is worth spending money on for HBO.

Chagaev has fought most of his career in Germany. A lot of ignorant Americans don't know who he is.

Ibragimov is Americanized. He lives in Florida and most of his fights were in America.
He was main event on Friday Night Fights...Ibragimov vs Austin
...and he had 2 PPVs
Ibragimov/Holyfield
Ibragimov/Briggs
Do you realise how sad of an excuse that is? Americanized? He isn't a Yank simple as. A Russian born in the USSR that is a Muslim. According to you and your friends Americans hate all of the above about that man. Admit it your original point is flawed.

So true!
Thats why they have Lampley, Merchant and Steward as commentators!
Its simple - theyve learned from their mistakes, Wlad despite his excellent KO% is a VERY Dull Fighter
I enjoy watching Wladimir Klitschko fight. Seriously. :boxing:
I think it might be because Haye is part of HBO's "Class of 2009" which is a group of fighters they planned to showcase this year so they really wanted to broadcast him. By rejecting the Chagaev fight perhaps they were trying to lure Wlad into holding off the fight but it may have backfired.
I think HBO has been fair to Wlad for the most part. Perhaps their investment in him just hasn't paid off for whatever reason.
I can't post it since I have under 15 posts but some may remember the Brock-Wlad HBO poster advertised as the heavyweight championship. You can probably check google image search to find it. It's clear that Wlad is the fighter they are promoting. In fact the American fighter Brock isn't even pictured!
Yes, yes, and yes
Were ANY of those fights for the UNDISPUTED, LINEAL, RING BELT Heavyweight Championship of the WORLD???
I don't want to down play the achievement but have you seen Chageav{SP} in his last few fights. He hasn't looked to good, maybe HBO seen those performances. The fight will be picked up by a yank network so this really is a pointless discussion.
You win, HBO hates Europeans and so does all of the American media.

Why the hell is HBO passing on Wlad-Chagaev when they paid for Wlad-Thompson.... | BoxingScene Community
