From everything that's coming out (Roach) Mosley wants the fight badly and is willing to agree to any terms set by team Pac. Mosley would have to cut 5 which is 2 less than the part time boxer Oscar (154 to 150 to 147).
Mosley has been a full time boxer for a while and pretty much stays in shape. How would it effect Mosley if all?
i dont think shane will do smeting that will kill him. i still think shane will ko pacman.
FOR THE RECORD COMING FROM A SHANE FAN. IF HE DROPS THE WIEGTH & GETS HIS ASS BEAT U WONT GET AN EXCUSE FROM ME.
I think he can make it but his Stamina and Speen would suffer though. I still think he could win if he doesn't lose too much muscle but chances are because he's already avery muscular build he'd be losing muscle to get down.
I would be rooting for Shane to win but i wouldn't mind Pacquiao winning.
i hate fights like this - they make it impossible to predict a winner.
you just know that one guy will dominate, the reason fight fans loved fights like JMM pacman, castillo corrales, calzaghe kessler, JMM diaz, katsidis casamayor etc is because the fight was even. during the fight you knew that it was an even contest.
this will be the complete opposite either one man will dominate or the other will dominate and that ruins the spectacle imo.
personally i think sugar shane is a grat fighter who is now just chasing the dollars and imo he will pay for that. he can get at least a couple of fights against cotto, clottey, berto, collazo he still has the beating of alot of guys at 154: cintron, angulo, kirkland.
imo he will make more from 2 of those fights than he would from the fight with pacman and furthermore he won't f*ck up his body in the process.
SSM is the only fighter in the modern era who has gone down a weight class and kept his skills (from 154 to 147) but imo 142 is too much. he will be a corpse and he will lose.
Yes it was Gamachi , you cant do what Gatti did without having the substance to hold that water , ODH went down another road and it killed him , its a tricky deal but I would never write Shane off in this type of situation , only he would really know what he can handle I dont think Shane will sell himself for the purse he wants to win , I think if he accepts the fight he believes he can make it , I really dont think Roach wants Mosley or Cotto they are too big for Pac , Roach might squeeze to the point they wont go for it .
We'll just have to wait and see. I think that Roach does want Mosley and Cotto though but he wants them on his terms, Mosley needs the fight more than Pacquiao does really because of where he is right now in his career and because of his divorce so I think he'll agree to a 143 or 144 pound catchweight.
It depends on 2 things , how low does he need to train at through the latter part of the camp that will enable him to dry out to the weight , and then how much he can he rehydrate , thats the important part going back up ,,, Oscar trained too low in camp and lost too much substance , I think if Oscar had of trained at a higher weight in camp and then dehydrated more for the weigh-in he would have gone back up easier , he would have been parched dry but his body would soak it back up like a sponge , Oscar tried to diet down all the way through camp and it took muscle away , he should have just tried to loose the water from a bigger man than trying to be a smaller man for weeks , it hurt him really bad , both ways are risky when your on the razors edge but if Shane nailed it he would have a big advantage on fight night , Gatti went up 18 pounds in one of his fights and was a monster , so its possible for Shane .
I think you're talking about Gatti in the Gamache fight, the difference there is that Gatti had recently moved up in weight from 135 and his previous fight before that was at 140 so his body was used to making and fighting at 140, Mosley's body is used to fighting at 146 and above, those extra pounds could and most likely would take something out of him, no matter what technique he uses to get down in weight. But we'll have to wait and see if that really happens, there's no guarantee that the fight will happen anyways.
I think he can make 143 or 144, 142 might be pushing it but even at 143 or 144 (which are the weights I think Roach will settle on), it might still take something out of him. He hasn't weighed below 146 in a long time, since his lightweight days in 1999.
I think Shane, despite any money that lures him into a contrary belief, will only make a weight lower than 147 by arriving in a shape like Oscar did in his fight with Pacquiao. Shane will lose ability the lower in weight he moves- sacrificing speed, stamina and strength in cutting as much fluid as possible prior to the weigh in. The question will be, if a catch weight is brought up, what is the lowest Shane can make before those losses become far too much? In my eyes, not much. Pacquiao and Mosley are two very different sized men. We only get to see them fight if one has a serious disadvantage; Mosley being weight drained or Manny being too small.
He think Mosley might have difficulty getting down just under 147. I might be wrong though, because Mosley seems confident that he can make it.But, I think below 147, Mosley loses.
