I wonder what the original script was like and if Stallone decided to spite Roy by saying "let's have it that Tarver hits me with a left hand in the 2nd round but I get up from the knockdown".
I noticed that of the real highlights they showed of Tarver, they didn't have his KO of Jones. They had him celebrating after the Harding rematch and yelling "Roy Jones where you at?", but not the KO of Jones.
Maybe it was some sort of clearance thing, although I can't picture them having too many problems since they showed other HBO fights and had HBO as a big part of the movie.
True. Didn't think of that. I remember Sly saying something to the effect of since I couldn't get Roy, I got the guy who beat him. I wonder how Roy would have done in the role.
I think he picked Tarver in paticular for the role to kinda spite Roy.

LOL...... Didn't know that. When Sly asked Roy Jones to play Dixon in the movie and Roy never got back to him, Mike Tyson reached out for the role. He was afraid of Tyson going to hard and Knocking him out so he gave Tyson that little ringside cameo. I think he picked Tarver in paticular for the role to kinda spite Roy.
Yeah, a quote that Sly had about not having Tyson play Dixon was "I may be old, but I'm too young to die"
Here's the link about Stallone getting KO'd.
Sylvester Stallone was rushed to hospital after he was knocked unconscious on the set of new Rocky movie 'Rocky Balboa'.
The film crew initially failed to call emergency services thinking the Hollywood legend - who had suffered a vicious blow to the head in the ring - was still acting.
Stallone's mother Jackie said: 'At first everyone thought Sylvester was acting when he fell to the floor, but it was serious.
'Fortunately he has recovered now.'
Filming began in Nevada earlier this month.
Stallone shot scenes in the ring just before the middleweight World Title clash between boxers Jermain Taylor and Bernard Hopkins.
The ageing actor was desperate to make the new Rocky film after people said he was too old to revive the role.
He said: 'It's all going to be about the message and the scepticism.
'Because when you reach a certain age people become sceptical about what you can do.
'You may not have the skill but you have the will and that can drive you through.

Supposedly Stallone got KO'd by Tarver during filming.
They thought he was acting and then they found out Sly really got KO'd.
I actually liked Rocky Balboa quite a bit. It lacked the cheesy entertainment value of 3 and 4, but it was better acted, better shot, and did a better job of putting Rocky in the "underdog to root for" role than any of the sequels.

20mb broadband and it runs like shit cause "people" insist on having massive
animations in there signatures, which ofc are in EVERY one of there posts
You can turn sigs off you know....
Oddly enough, the actual boxing they had in this Rocky film was more realistic than the other Rocky films
Yeah I noticed. Did you notice the Knock down the referee missed early on when Rocky hit the deck but used the ropes to stay up? I think his glove even touched the mat.

They were actually hitting each other which is why. They were pulling the huge shots obviously, but everything else was fair game.
Great find. I thought it was a great movie and it actually had very little to do with boxing.

If you actually watch and score the fight based on the highlights, it's quite clear Tarver won....
No excuse for Tarver he should've finished him off in the second round for christ sakes
