Someone was saying although Cotto is a "WW".
In the ring after the weigh in, he comes in alot heavier, someone even saying up to a MW or even 170lbs
Clarify?
The most Cotto has ever weighed was about 158, which is normal for boxers.
Why the fuk r people always trying to down play Miguel's success?
The fukin kid has worked extremely hard for everything that he has and earned it.
I wish some hating motherfukers can earn the right to create threads instead of being allowed to post up bullsh!t conspiracy's like this one.
It's a serious question though.
Cotto fans do it to Mayweather fans all the time.
I dont follow either of the two, but it works both ways.
Curious why Mayweather and Pac get criticized by Cotto fans for not facing Cotto, when Cotto does the same thing.
I've never seen Cotto approach anything much more than junior middleweight. I think the reason he's seen as a smaller welterweight occasionally by some is because of his career at 140. That, and a few times Miguel has given us the impression of having a less-than-sterling chin; if people don't feel he can take a welterweight punch, and he's a guy that moved up, many feel he's truly built for 140. Look at Klitschko, though. Can't get much more chinny than him and he's most certainly in the right weight class, so I feel any reputation of Cotto being small is misleading. Also, any doubts of Miguel's ability to take some punishment at welterweight should have been dispelled during his brawl with Margarito. Sure, he got stopped, but the guy took a hell of a lot of shots and handled them decently before that.
The new spin, I guess, that Cotto is a large welterweight; I'm not buying that. He doesn't have amazing power, and while I feel he might be able to capture a strap at 154, I don't see him having the same arsenal or competitive ability at a higher weight. I think he's right about where he belongs.
And they got nerve to call Floyd a fraud and a coward.
Show proof that Cotto weighed 168 lbs fight night for any of his fights. Do you know how bloated he'd look?
Why do you purposely act like a douche bag, is it an internet character trait?

What the heck. So he comes in at 155lbs in some bouts?
I dont join this silly debates, but those Cotto fans saying Pac and Mayweather should face their own size need to say that to Cotto.
Dude should face Paul Williams.
Larry Merchant also said in the Margarito broadcast that Cotto did not allow us to weigh him in.
That's interesting being that Larry Merchant wasn't in the Cotto - Margarito broadcast and a comment like that was never mentioned.
Williams only came it at 166 once and he got clowned by Quintana.
Since then..he weighs less than Cotto and Clottey on fight night.
you talk so much shyt. why dont you bring some weight in picture here. and bring urkal at 159.
there it is..!!
Cotto is one the biggest weight-gainers in the sport.
If you are gaining more than 15 pounds from weigh in to fight night you are probably pushing it. That said Paul Williams weighed like 166-167 in one of his fights and Clottey actually came in at 170 in one of his fights. I believe there are many many guys that abuse the structure of the weigh in more than Cotto. Now when he was a 140 lb fighter he was up there with the best of them.
Speaking of Clottey can you imagine in 1 day gaining 23lbs? and by the time these guys actually hit the ring they have drank even more fluids probably put another pound or two on. I am surprised he has not hurt himself yet.
IDK where you guys are getting these numbers from. I have a ton of Cotto's fights on tape and he comes in at like 162 in every fight pretty much. Stop trying to make him seem like he is this little guy. He's huge
this is accurate from what I remember
Can't be the same reason.
Same day weigh-ins wouldn't hurt Floyd at all.
He doesn't add much.
But Cotto would have to fight at 154 or 160....LOL
That would be hilarious watching that lil f@g fight somebody his own size or bigger.
Cotto...wins his fights on the SCALE
Floyd..wins his fights in the RING
What a douche' bag
Dont talk just weigh-in weight like the weight they actually fight does not matter , how can that be that it doesnt matter , you cant have it one way in this debate you need acknowledge the weight a fighter steps into the ring ,,, and when you do acknowledge that fact then you see the advantages one fighter will have over another like say Cotto or Mosley will have over Floyd and Pac on the night of the fight ,,,,,,,,, its as plain as the nose on your face Antonio !
I acknowledge there will be an advantage in weight. Floyd also has physical advantages Cotto doesn't have. 5 more inches in reach, nearly 2 inches in height...
He's fought at or above welterweight for over 3 years now. It's not like he's a 140 pound fighter.
Its sarcasm by having a dig at all the fools that think its ok for Pac and Floyd to give Cotto that weight , but if thats ok so it is for Cotto to fight Pavlik and Abraham ,,,,, my point is the weight advantages are the same just on the other foot !!
Floyd has been fighting at Welterweight for years now, and he's fighting a Lightweight there, so I don't see why he can't fight real Welterweights. He already fought two in Baldy and Oscar. That's the problem there. How can one hold the Ring belt, call himself champion and only fight Mitchell, Marquez, Judah, Baldomir, and Hatton at the weight? It's almost laughable. Again if he were fighting at 140 this wouldn't be an issue with most people.
If people are blasting Pac for not fighting Cotto at 147 or even 144 then they are crazy. Fighting Oscar was obviously a financial decision. Realistically his best weight is 135-140. Personally I think Pac is good enough to beat Cotto anyway, even at 147. In his case he's not giving up height or reach, and he's much quicker with his hands and on his feet.
Id like to see fighters not be allowed to fight outside the weight class and same day weigh-in , if its WW they must be between 140 and 147 stepping into the ring ,, its crazy where a fighter loses water to make 147 only to fight at 160 MW 30hrs later , the 36 hr weigh-in was not ment for this purpose of abuse and advantage .
I agree totally with this. BUT.......as long as a fighter (any fighter) chooses to fight in a certain weight class as long as the rules are the way they are now, he should fight the best. You can't blame a fighter for taking advantage of bullshit weigh in policies. You can blame a fighter for moving up if he doesn't have to and not fighting the best. Jmo.
@ Deja
When fighters drain themselves it's easier to put on water weight. Example Williams vs. Quintana I and II. If Cotto is 164 in the ring then he's a lot more muscle bound than I thought.
Notice the biggest Floyd Pac haters avoid these type threads , they are the ones that are running bitches full of double standards ,,,,, I hate the haters :)
Well I'm not a hater and I'm right here to debate with you Rod. I'm not going to the bar to watch Orlando win for another 30 minutes or so.
I went last, your go...
Cotto had 15lbs on Judah.
Man you must be making some great money with that kind of mind capability. To be able to guess weights like that.
How are you all going to sit here and throw out numbers like you know.
I'd like to know where any of you get these numbers from first of all. Because I've seen pretty much all of Cotto's fights and they rarely show the day of fight weigh in.
Second of all if he were anything close to 170 we'd know because he walks around close to that weight and he's noticebly soft around his stomach. Even when he's 157 he doesn't look like he does on fight night.
Haters and supporters don't just guess facts.
Its not bullshit , 152 is bullshit ,,,,, I will bet you all points that with a 147 weigh-in he is 156-162 ,,,,,, you want it :)
Dont forget while you boys are discussing weight that Floyd and Pac come in at 147-8 ,,,,,,,,,,, but they can give Cotto all this weight and you call them bitches , lol I want to see Cotto fight Pavlik or Abraham would that be a fair fight or is that one of your double standards or are you going to run from this thread like you always do .
Im the world champion of shutting you haters down , read my posts and see how many time I shut the haters down they run away better than they say Floyd does lol .
And Pavlik is 160 in the ring? I know Abraham isn't the way he struggles to make weight. I know for sure Pavlik comes in 168-170. All of these guys drain themselves to an extent, so I don't know why you are even bringing this up. It's not long ago Pac was 144 for 130 pound fights.
i say around 160.
most guys sweat out about 10% of their weight during weigh in.
so my guess is he was around 155 his last fights at 140 and about 160 at 147.
yeah good point man, when he was at 140 he didn't have the same muscle that he does at 147.
at 140 id say that come fight night cotto would weigh below 157
at 147 id say that come fight night cotto weighs around the 160 or slightly higher
i think he has physically grown alot since he has moved to 147, his body has much more muscle mass and has lost alot of the fat that was around his wasit and midriff.
overall id say that cotto is a good size for a WW, the likes of williiams, clottey and margarito are all huge WW's though, because of that some ppl may think that cotto is a small WW but i think hes a good size for WW.
