Before I went to bed last night, I was pondering whether a Zab Judah win over Matthew Hatton might setup a future bout with brother Ricky Hatton. I’ve never seen Matt fight but Judah is seen as a huge step up for the lad. So basically, I don’t know how to call this fight. Anyways, my point is, if Judah beats Matthew in a convincing manner (via KO/TKO) does this potentially set up a fight with Ricky? And if so, what’s your prediction for this fight’s outcome? And do you guys like this matchup?..
It would be a great rebound fight for Ricky, Judah will not be able to handle the constant pressure Hatton will apply and will likely break down within 10.

ricky needs to stay away for anyone w/ power or speed in the near future.
Yea in boxing solid opposition (gate keepers I guess) has a place in the sport. most people either view guys at the poles (bum or godlike) but people never give the mid level guys any respect (Rocky Jaurez is another example).
Yeah, we need a "gatekeepers appreciation thread" here in NSB. You can add Edison Miranda, Jameel Mccline, et al to the list...
The guys deserves a little more respect than you're giving him; the boxing universe needs guys like Zab, not everyone can be a superstar or champion...

Zab Judah is just a waste of space and talent, nothing more, nothing less.

Zab Judah has become the ultimate gatekeeper of the welter weight division but he's still considered by some folks a top contender. Whatever the label, Zab always comes to fight and makes his opponent work hard for the victory. That's why he always seems like he's in demand...
a complete fall from grace...it wasnt that long ago that his name had actual value...i still cant believe they're reduced to fighting matthew f'n hatton
Sadly he still does have name value, to me it was a smart move to put him on this card. Both Zab and Floyd are big in the Hip-Hop world, which is mostly where Floyd's fanbase comes from (casual fans and the people that would actually cheer him on as opposed to paying to see him get beat).
I can't fault Zab for fighting Hatton here (especially since they are promoting the Floyd fight in the UK why I don't know but they must know something I don't, but I guess it can't hurt that much since it should only be an added revenue stream) because his career is completely off the rails at this point and if he really wants to put his career back together he needs to take small steps (but actually fighting and beating some halfway decent fighters, I don't really think of Hatton as half-way decent maybe 1/3 decent but have to start somewhere).
Sadly, that is true. Judah has gotten more mileage out of accomplishing nothing than almost any other fighter around now.
I would honestly not have a problem with Zab getting big fights if he atleast beat some decent fighters to stay in the mix, instead of the host of clowns he has beaten since beating Spinks.
Zab is pretty lucky that Floyd might need Zab as a sparring partner fo a certain superstar, so Floyd would go to bat for Zab and get him this shot, his career was on a path to nowhere I could atleast envision him getting his carreer back in order (but only if he wants it and willing to make the sacrifices, always a large cloud over what Zab can do with his career at this point).
Judah is a funny character, when he fights nobodies or lesser fighters he can't KO them. But when he fights someone who is good, he is in a kind of competitive fight. He was in a competitive fight with Clottey before getting stopped.
You want to know what is worse then fighting Matthew Hatton? When if you score a victory over him it is your biggest victory in years (that is pretty low when you considered the heights that Zab reached at various points).

Only if Aaron Pryor isn't available.
Well if Pryor is not available they should look to Argeullo, sure he lost to Pyror but any other 140 pounder no way!
damn...its gotten this bad for judah....matthew hatton....damn
