well pick one:
Pavlik
Trinidad
De La Hoya
People move up to fight hopkins all the time, and i see noone taking anything away from him. So how in hell is it okay for hopkins, but a crime for mayweather?
BTW marquez is moving up 9 lbs. Dont make it seem worse than it is by wording it differently (2 WHOLE divisions) Pavlik moved up 10 lbs to face hopkins, Mayweather moved up 7 lbs to face de la hoya, and haye is movin up a hell of alot to face klitchko, so plz ppl, stop bitchin
we all know hopkins is a bitch.....
Hyp, why do you hate Hopkins so much anyway. tell me one fighter in this era with a resume that you could compare to his besides pacquiao. Give the old man his props.
The only fight where I felt an opponent had no business fighting Hopkisn was the Winky fight. And winky was the favorite coming in.
i still dont know y ppl doubt hopkins, but they do. to me, the only difference btwn him and floyd is that floyd gets more respect throughout the boxing world. By that i mean hes never the underdog....
i'm trying to be neutral today.
too much anti-floyd/pro-floyd stuff lately.
floyd hating is getting boring.
i'm gonna defend him tomorrow just to show larry/el dom how it's done.
o yea.... i look foward to it
i agree. floyd fans should just acknowledge that floyd is bigger but it should still be a good fight and floyd is just using jmm as sort of a tuneup since he has been in long layoff. it would be better than trying to argue floyd and jmm is the same size and jmm fighting at 147 is fair.
carry on.
i know floyd is the bigger man, that why i'v said all along this is a tune up for pac. but i do think when Floyd and JMM enter the ring they will be close to the same weight. maybe 2 or 3 pound apart

they arent fighting at 147...... thats a myth
fuck wlad too.
carry on.
lol
the tread starter makes a point, its just part of boxing.
but hopkins also fought MANY natural MW's, and went up in wieght for a couple of fights.
and floyd fought a few welters as well, and he went up in wait to fight oscar.
wait is part of boxing, its not "being a bitch"
but personally i like hopkins better, he was an underdog so many times, and he almost always proved everyone wrong.
carry on, lol
Just another Floyd boy trying to take the heat off floyd. Trinidad was already established at 160, won a title there, and physically grew into the division. ODLH fought B-hop at a catchweight(158~), Pavlik already fought near that limit anyway(166 in the rematch against taylor). In both the pavlik and trinidad fights, B-hop was a heavy underdog as well.
i call that making excuses to defend marquez. ehy dont you go back and look at the tale of the tape for marquea-pacquiao 2, and compare it to the tale of the tape of mayweather-hatton. You will see a 2 lb difference on fightnight, which is what matters.......

best thread i'v read all day
all hopkins best wins are against guys stepping up (apart from tarver) the only difference being he wasnt a favourite for them.still a great fighter though, one of the best defences ever imo,he has got better with age
He's not abitch at all. He risks himself to keep us entertained and you have to respect that. He is obviously a very gifted and a tremendous athlete. I just wish he fought some more people t5hat could possibly give him a better matchup - I want to see just how gifted of an athlete he is. Who knows, he might be the best boxer to ever live. But if he keeps continuing to call out low risk opponents, instead of going for the glory at 147, he will always have that hang over his name.
"Remember Pretty Boy Floyd?"
"Yeah, I remember. He was good at 135 lbs. He was even the best P4P, but he never fought any of the welterweights later in his career. Only if we could've seen him fight a truly good welterweight."
