That is good advice. If I only used the computer to surf, I would just use Linux but since I do so much more than just Surf, Linux does not cut it for me but I get on my linux box from time just to change OS. No, I am not a MAC user :lmfao: I have a couple of different incarnations of LInux on a couple of drives in my PC that I can switch to and boot from when I feel like playing with it a little. The only real problem with Linux is that there are too many apps written for too many different versions...gets confusing and annoying. And being an old DOS guy, I'm a little lost without the commands and procedures in writing where I can see them and know how to do things in Linux without a GUI. Makes me feel stupid, sometimes.

Boxingscene is notorious for pop up ads and malware. Members have made threads and pleaded with admins but nothing gets done. I have never had a popup ad show up here...ever. Using Firefox, with the NoScript addon (sorry, thought it was scriptblocker, but it's "NoScript"), and the "Adblock Plus". I have no ads, no extra windows, no headaches.

You got it as a deal with your computer, It figures. I have tested most of the antivirus software on the market and I have to say NOD32 and Kaspersky are two of the best. I chose NOD 32 - 2.7 an old version over Kaspersky because NOD32 was user friendly and over all passed all test I threw at it. Again, also NOD 32 is not a resource hog and defends very well. Since I have been using NOD 32 about 3 years or so, I have yet to get a serious infection and that says alot about NOD IMO is this stuff all freely available on the net and not too much hassle implementing?

I see you're already using Firefox (should've read entire thread). Good, then just get the script blocker addon, DELETE everything that has to do with McAfee, and get Sygate Personal Firewall, you'll be all set. cool, thanks

i got it with the deal when i got the computer you got any recommendations for free anti-virus type thingies though? No i haven't to be honest with you. I'm like you as i got my antivirus software with the computer too, instead i got 'Norten' not 'McAfee'.

I do not use macafee, I am using NOD 32 but, are you using Internet Explorer? That page warning looks like something that you get as part of your internet service provider yes? Anyway, it's no secret that the pop up and the pop unders here on boxinscene and s@ddoboxing are a bit malicious but are not really boxingscenes fault, its the assholes behind making these java scripts who are guilty of malicious coding. Anyway, I dont go anywhere with out my NOD32 so I aint worried plus I have my firewall and you cant **** my computer up because I have RollBack RX which takes snap shots of my HD incase anything happens. It's like a system restore on roids. I dont know what to tell you, your question is should you over ride it? What happens if you deny it? Since you did not allow us to see the detailed site report I cant advize. But we were given a choice on BS as to wether be paid members or take the ads and the ads over paid membership won.
