Roach said that though a “Mosley fight is probably the most exciting because they both like to fight,” it's all about making the fight on even terms.
“I have to protect my fighter,” said Roach, who administered the terms for Pacquiao and Oscar De La Hoya last year. “I spoke to Shane and told him that we would fight him at 142. He said he can’t make that weight.”
Mosley asked why not 147, as Manny/Oscar was set at 147? Roach said that Mosley is not De La Hoya in terms of setting a weight handicap.
...
The fight Roach likes is Many/Mosley, if the Pomona fighter can make the weight. The world can only wait to see what transpires. Another match that could have consequences also takes place in June when Miguel Cotto and Joshua Clottey fight. If the Puerto Rican slugger wins, he would be asked to drop to 140 to fight Pacquiao.

ridiculous???
2) pac officially weighed 138 lbs against hatton just a few weeks ago. when was the last time cotto/mosley officially weighed 138 lbs???
6) pac officially weighed 142 lbs against dlh. when was the last time cotto/mosley officially weighed 142 lbs???
5) Cotto and Mosley are MWs on fight night and Pac is a WW on fight night. IS THAT FAIR???
4) unless cotto agrees to 142, this fight shouldn't even be discussed. Get down to 142 lbs or GTFO and fight mosley
Then Pac shouldn't be fighting the likes of Cotto and Mosley end of. These guys are to big for him in weight, if Mosley and Cotto go down it's unfair & if Pac goes UP it's unfair. It's just a no go for all fighters, forget it.
There's no way mosley goes down that much. Cotto should fight at 145. For me it's a no go for both Cotto and Mosley, no deal. **** roach and his ridiculous demands.

that weight will be a suicide for both of them. and roach should just STFU he is making pac look really bad with all this BS catchweight :firedevil

How about just having them fight at their fight-time weight.
So, if accurate, that neither fighter goes above 150 by fight time, say with Pac's 148 (against Hatton) and Floyd's 149 (or less)...it's about even and no need to drain for the scales.
Basically, put a cap on the fight-night weight and make it an official/accurate weigh-in 1 hour before the fight.
benny, I know you have an agenda, but that's not how boxing works right now. until you change boxing for the better, when talking on NSB please work with the framework that everybody is going with. thanx.
basically you're saying that floyd can't make 138 lbs.
if true, then floyd/pac has to be at a catchweight.

Floyd has been moving up for the last several years so he had no need to try to dehydrate to 138.
The dehydration/Re-hydration process takes alot of sacrifice.
Some fighters can dehydrate more then others so this is not the true weight of the fighters.
A small amount of fighters don't like to go through the process at all.
Registered/Official weight is just the dehydrated weight for most fighters.
Used as an advantage to squeeze into a lower official weight class.
most fighter can't actually perform/fight at the registered/official weight 30hrs before the fight..
this is just to show up to (register) make the fight official.
the true/important/real weight of a fighter is there optimum performing weight, as the fighter has to be at his best when stepping in the ring.
I understand that the registered/official weight is what the general boxing community like to focus on, but intellects of the boxing community look at the fight night weight (optimum performing weight).
This is what trainers and advisers look at when they are matching up there fighters next opponent.

annnndd the mayweather talks stop
good points, but can floyd make 138 lbs?

it doesnt matter wat you say if you can move up and fight at the weight fight at it, stop all the excuses.
pac officially weighed 138 lbs for the hatton fight.... why would he want to move up to 147?
the last time pac fought at 147 (he weighed 142 lbs officially) he got a huge dlh-money pay day.
can cotto and mosley offer that kinda money? if not then pac dont need to move up.
1) pac fighting dlh at 147 was a one time deal. roach said that from the very beginning.
2) yeah, but if they want the payday they gotta cut the weight. will their greed win out or will common sense? if greed wins out, then you can't blame anyone (including pac and roach) except mosley and cotto themselves.

Pull do you really find it that surprising that Mosley or Cotto would try to fight Manny Pacquiao...He has already fought in there division and is a huge draw...Why would they not try to get in on that...from a financial point of view?

This CRap is going 2 go On Forever. Roach Wanting the Big Fights to Drop To crazy weights, so paq cud demolish their weak body and be hailed as King. I dont even like cotto at 145.
but should WWs be fighting jr WWs in the first place?

lets get real here pac team wouldt be considering fighting these two fighters if they didt think they can fight them in a dehydrated state, thats only way pac has a chance.
alright, let's get real... a WW should fight a WW and not a jr WW.
that means cotto and mosley should stop calling out pac.
yes cotto and mosley are messed up for trying to fight pac but at the end of the day all pac has to say is f**k no.
nah, it's ****ed up cause cotto and mosley won't say no and keep trying to pursue a fight w/ pac.
thats why their is a ridiculous catchweight because roach knows that the chances of cotto and mosley saying no is very high.
if they don't liek the catchweight then they should walk. its just that simple.
no one is forcing pac to fight them.
no one is forcing mosley and cotto to fight pac either.
i could care less about mosley vs cotto rematch me personally theirs no point.
I guess determing the WW champ means nothing to you.
