People only seem to acknowledge his awesome speed and power yet fail to see and appreciate the skills involved for him to be victorious against his HOF opponents. Most still thinks that because he ain't skilled enough, he is not worthy to belong amongst the ATG.
Was casa more skilled than pac? how come he didn't last long with JMM?
Pac's skills underrated here?
How can you say Bruce Lee is overrated? During his time in the 60's and early 70's there was no one even close to what he was. If you where alive or old enough to see him and appreciate him during that time you would say different. He is a martial artist and he didnt have mma around like UFC, Otherwise he would of dominated it. All these younglings look at him now and compare him to todays fighters and just dont get it.
Exactly. They don't get it because he wasn't a fighter... he was an ACTOR.

Because skill doesn't equal chin, and Casa was well shopworn.

casamayor does have more skills than pac, but casamayor is shot
Maybe the word isn't underrated... it's more likely "underestimated"
underestimated by fighters who said they are bigger than him, underestimated by fighters who said he was one-dimensional.
but most of all...underestimated by boxing fans.
bruce lee was the one that so overrated.

Manny is embraced a lot in the Fillipines, not in the US. Manny does not speak English very well, If he knew how to speak English better then he would most likely be the face of boxing in the US as well as world wide. I think his fame in the US is pretty cool despite his horrible English.
This is what i was meaning....In his homeland hes very welcomed in everyway. Just here its nothing compared at all. The English may have alot to do with it.
Pac is the most over-rated boxer of all time. People were seriously hailing him the new G.O.A.T after he beat Hatton lmao
I guess some people treat overrating and dislike the same.
People didn't give him much of a chance against dela Hoya, and more so with Hatton. Now after he slaughtered those two, he's still overrated.
When he held Marquez to a draw and then won, he's still overrated.
Manny is underated. He is nowhere near as popular as Oscar was but yet hes way better. I dont think Manny will ever get that type of recognition he deserves.
No one under rates him. Its just that no one with a healthy brain believes he is better than Pernell Whitaker. :nonono:

Exactly. People blow him way out of proportion if anything at all. Thats why I think these guys are on some mean ass sherm.
I meant like to the media and the general public. Your average joe doesnt know Pacquaio but he knows Oscar. Its just not right.
So. He isn't that great. An entire country worships him as the messiah. Isn't that enough?

People generally don't see beyond the speed and power or his usual combinations. They miss out on terrific feints, usually incorporates upperbody movement with side to side movement with his arms to confuse his opponents. His footwork is great, but it wasn't ackknowledged even earlier when he would use this to close the range very quickly and leap in and out with his combinations. Back then it was off balance yet still effective. Now he's more complete. I still think his right hook look awkward as ****, but it gets the job done. There are a lot of things at work when he's on the job, but you have to look for the fine details. Ever noticed how he timed Morale's nose rub with the gloves thing he was doing in their 2nd fight? At one moment he was waiting for it, as soon as Morales went to rub his nose with glove, he jumped in there with a combination. He did it with Hatton, timing the way hatton dropped his hands immediately after moving out of a setup like he did for the last round and a half. He's very good at timing.
