Anyone think Joe might be tempted if Froch wins a couple of big fights against the likes of Lucian Bute and Mikkel Kessler. Froch still has a long way to go before he's considered one of the top fighters despite holding the WBC Super Middleweight title and capturing the headlines with a fantastic win over Taylor in the States. I still don't think Calzaghe takes him seriously - but if Froch keeps winning, unifies the division and starts running his mouth then I fear he may be tempted to come out of retirement for a "Battle of Britain" with the Cobra.

Calzaghe comes out of retirement for nobody. Froch's win against Taylor is nothing now, because Taylor is nothing. Regardless who Froch beats Calzaghe wanted to finish undefeated and on top and he is gonna keep it that way. With all these fighters now on the loose its shear suicide to come back and risk the record he has. The only fight anyways I would like to see him fight is Paul Williams vs. Calzaghe!!!!!!
All bias aside, if you were Joe Calzaghe (with his skillset), would you fight Carl Froch.
I would, in a heartbeat.
I would, but if I'd been fighting for 25 years, lacked motivation, had smashed up hands, and wanted to stay in bed instead, the answer might be "no".

Defo. He is an easy target for Calzaghe even after a long layoff. But, he wouldn't get credit for the win, all he will get is "should have fought Chad Dawson". So really, there's no point.
I think Dawson has been comprehensively written-off as a non-ticket seller, nobody could really rip Calzaghe for not fighting him after coming out of retirement.

Calz would kick dawsons ass too

If Froch beat bute and Kessler, there may be a chance. But until he beats the likes of Kessler and Hopkins, there is no chance of Calzaghe coming out to face him.
Yeah i'd agree with that. Don't get me wrong, i don't think Joe is scared of Froch- far from it. I just mean he won't risk coming out of retirement at his age- it's not worth it. He has already said several times "this is not a Mayweather style retirement" and i think he'll stick to his word
I sadly agree. It's the end of the most akward fighter in boxing - Even though I'm a fan, I seriously see someone missing on that resume, and it's Dawson. He was the key to US accepting.
I don't think that Calzaghe will ever fear Carl Froch, but I think he wants to be one of those retired fighters that stays retired - even though the boxingworld is calling him out time after time. Frochs style against Calzaghe's style would be 1000 punches to the head of Froch in 45 minuts. That's a kill.

calzaghe will only come out if dawson goes and beats hopkins, and because hopkins has said that he will never go and face dawson we can effectively rule out that bout happening and calzaghe coming out of retirement. also i think if calzaghe doesn't make a comeback within a oct/nov then he simply won't be coming back he'll see himself as too old and a year off is just too much.
froch meanwhile cannot get enough big fights to make himself a real force in boxing in that sort of timescale. even if froch were to somehow manage to beat kessler and johnson i think that by the time he does calzaghe will think of himself as too old.
He won't come back no matter what. If Froch beats Kessler, Bute and someone else if anything he's less likely to come out of retirement to fight Froch.
Lets be honest, why would he come out at his age to fight someone as young, hungry and on form as Froch when he hasn't even been tested since April 2008.

I hope it, I seriously hope it.
The only way I see a chance of this happening is if Froch beat Dawson... And I don't even see the chance as more than 10 %. I believe Calzaghe is completely retired, unfortunatly! :(
It's such a shame, that man was the number one most exciting fighter in the sport, in my opinion.

Frochs winning streak comes at the end of Lucian Bute. What some people forget to realize is that Bute has improved after his terrible fight with Andrade. And Andrade has also improved to 5.0 terminator getting better and better with each fight.
Bute and Andrade are in different leagues then Froch "I like to block punches with my face". They know what defense is, and they both throw much punches then Froch ever could dream of doing.
