Hello guys,
I've been having some problem to my retina lately, it is genetically sharper than usual and it used to have a small hole that had to be closed with laser photocoagulation.
My doctor advised me not to practice boxe anymore, but it is too much ****ing difficult, since i trained twice a day for the last 3 years, it's in my blood now.
I can't tell you how ****ing sad I am at the moment... What do you guys think? Should I stop forever? Anyone with similar experience?
Which is the best headgear, the most protective one?
and last but not least: why god had to be so evil to me?
Thank you very much guys.
my injury is of genetic source... I will always have a thinner retina...
On friday I'll get my second operation... I'll wait to hear what the doc will say afterwards...
you all guys are right, for me boxing WAS an addiction...
**** man... i'm so ****ing sad now... I was getting so good... so much hard work to throw away....

maybe you can be a trainer now
Why don't you just work out at the gym, and not spar, or fight competitively. It's a hard pill to swallow, but always put your health above anything else. My sister was recently involved in a serious accident, and she may yet have to have her arm, and foot amputated. What I'm saying is, health and life is the most important thing you will ever own.
What if you lost an eye? Even watching boxing would be difficult.
I dont box but man u gotta listen to your doctor, they know exactly what they're talking about. If he says stop, stop. It sounds like boxing is a bit of an addiction for you, so dont be like an alcoholic who gets told to stop drinking or he will die, and then gets pissed a week later thinking a few drinks wont do any harm.
You can still do the exercise work, the pad work etc, just no sparring/fighting.
If thats not enough, find a new hobby that is keeps you fit and amused, but wont **** up your vision for life.
There is a doctor in California that has worked on David Reid, Shazzon Bradley and other athletes. Bradley had both retinas detached and returned to the ring. The doctor uses a certain type of lube for the job, not stitches. Google Shazzon Bradley, and you may be able to find the doctor. Take Care, and get surgery before fighting again. You are 21 you have many many great days ahead of you.
It's a very dangerous situation for you. Sit with a Coach and speak with him. Perhaps there are some precautions that you can take for preventing those injuries. A coach is the best solution to finding out what you should do for boxing injuries. :luvbed:

Which is the best headgear, the most protective one? dunno, but I'd rather keep my eye
and last but not least: why god had to be so evil to me? technically, God did not do this to you. It's a genetic condition.
Thank you very much guys.
u r welcome
Prince Naseem Hamed: if it's written, it's written.
I would like to hear more from people who have had to quit boxing because of bad vision, bad health etc.
yeah man but I don't drink, I don't smoke and I don't have a television and I'm 21. It exist just boxing and studing for me... If you take boxing away my life become suddenly empty...
Well keep boxing if you don't mind the risk of losing an eye...
or do the smart thing and listen to your doctor...
or call Sugar Ray Leonard and get his opinion...
Very dangerous injury, career ending for most. Technology has advanced and soem fighters have come back from that injury though. I would get a second and third opinion if I was you just to make sure.
If doctors tell you not to spar or train anymore, don't do it because nothing is worth losing your vision over.....nothing.
