Pacquiao isn't fast some people think he is, Judah is faster and he handled his speed pretty well.
I never said Pac wasn't fast, but you need to know how to determine handspeed. There is fighters out there that you can't even see there hands move (Chad Dawson, Zab Judah). Floyd Mayweather Jr. in his prime was faster than Pac. Pac is fast, real fast, when I talk of hand speed, I'm talking about speed where you can't even see the hands move, it's like a blur.
Mayweather has faced Judah who has one of the fastest hands in boxing. It's not like Mayweather has never dealt with real speed before.
Am I the only person seeing this you dumbass? :newbie::newbie: Read up on what you type before spewing out bullshit.Haha.
just watched the floyd judah fight he was a sucker for the straight left and right hook from the southpaw stance. and pac has the best straight left in the game.
Yes he does.

Good post. It will be interesting to see.
You know, a lot of people are counting Marquez out... but if Mayweather doesn't come in TOP shape there is potential for an upset.
I love Mayweather, but it would be kind of cool to see Marquez finally get to the top of the mountain.
Of all the things that Floyd Mayweather does he will always come in on shape. Dude is a straight gym rat, look at what most fighters look like just one month after a fight, now look at Floyd comming off a year and a half layoff 10 weeks out from the fight. Dude is a freak.
A second point, I consider Manny kind of a head hunter. He has to work the body to beat Floyd, and this works in conjuction with the upper cut. While mixing in what he currently does.
All this is a lot easier said then done though against someone who is trying to beat the shit out of you that is a master of the sport.
By stepping to his left, Manny's output shuts down a bit when you move to your left, which is what mayweather sr was trying to get hatton to understand. Manny likes to line up the left hand, if you dont let him, I dont think he's the same fighter, and I dont think Floyd is gonna rush him hands down so he can land the right hook either.
Yea, to beat Floyd Manny has to use the uppercut. If he can do that he can win, if he can not Floyd will eventually eat him up.

I'm not saying that he is beyond diminishing, but I don't think that time is now. If his skills were truly wearing down I don't think we'd see him coming back to fight some great opposition in Marquez, Pac, and whoever else he chooses to fight.
Like I said I think he should be less affected than some of the fighters I mentioned. I am still curious to see how much.
However he picked Marquez exactly to know where he is at. Marquez would bring more speed than the welters, but also lee power so it's the perfect tune up.
That I certainly agree with. Nonetheless I would be really surprised if the differnce between now and 2007 was not observable.
That is possible, but it would be totally blown out of proportion by a lot of people. Besides comming off a 2 yearish lay off should effect his timing which would make him seem a lot slower then before.
See but Leonard and Pea played a part in their own downfall though. Floyd looks to party a lot, but he does not seem to have certain habits that helped to slow down Pea and Sugar Ray. Now he will slow down as he ages, but if he takes care of himself like he is known to (he looks in pretty impressive shape comming off a 2 year lay off 10 weeks out from a fight), it should be slower in truly effecting him.

I am not saying he won't.
But you should know by observation that fighters slow down in their 30s (Jones, Pea), moreso if they retire from the fight game for a while (Leonard, Robinson).
So if anything, the reasonable thing is to expect that he will have slowed down rather than not.

Good point, but I don't expect him to have diminished.
Also, Pacquiao has given up and will continue to give up some of his speed to compete at higher weight classes.
This fight is going to be great either way. Lets just hope it happens.
I am sorry to be insistent, but why you don't expect it to be diminished?
What makes Floyd different? He is certainly more disciplined than Robinson, Leonard or Whitaker were late in their careers. But so was Jones, and Jones did not even have a layoff to deal with.
And I do see this as a great fight too.
How do you know he won't have it?

Mayweathers main weapon is timing. But he should do this by throwing counter combinations like what jmm did to pac. The downside that im seeing on mayweather is he loves to lie on the ropes do the shouder roll defense, I believe this strategy wont work against pacquiao. He should keep the fight in the center of the right and out box and counter the filipino. This fight will be pbf toughest fight pacquiao is so unpredictable he's very hard to time. To those who say he is not fast wtf?! The kid is very fast and what makes him dangerous is he's a very unorthodox fighter. With that speed, power, style and southpaw stance he's a very difficult matchup for anybody. People say hes not fast because he's not as technical as mayweather, judah, leonard, jones or mosely. But he throws fast punches in a unique style more like a martial artist than a boxer. This will be an even matchup.
Wait... did everyone forget how absolutely amazing Mayweather's defense is? Also, he still has spectacular speed.
Like it or not, Pacquiao is still a two-punch guy.
The last time you saw him fight, he was 30, now he is 32 and will be coming off a 19 months layoff.
How do you know he still have the speed?
