Pacman-Hatton monster pay-per-view hit
TV earnings could be fourth highest-grossing fight
THE MANNY Pacquiao-Ricky Hatton showdown is now a certified pay-per-view monster hit.
Exceeding everyone’s expectations, the fight—which Pacquiao won by knockout late in the second round to wrest Hatton’s International Boxing Organization light welterweight crown—drew anywhere from 1.6 million to 2 million PPV buys, according to the USA Today newspaper.

From the sound of it, the numbers are still not official. The article is just a report of a speculation report. We have to wait for HBO numbers then it's official. Too early to call yet.
at least this thread has a link. the other thread doesn't even have one and I was put on ignore by the threadstarter because I kept asking for a link (weak)
It seems to me that CNN article that "broke the news" using USA Today as a reference made an epic **** up. Apparently when Googling references, the writer stumbled across the USA Today article for De La Hoya-Pacquiao instead of Pacquiao-Hatton.
Here's the article claiming Pac-Hatton did 1.6 - 2 Million buys....

Manny in the money after Las Vegas win

USA Today reported Monday that early indications from cable companies were that the scheduled 12-round light-welterweight bout could get as many as two million buys.
Co-promoter Bob Arum was delighted with the figures especially as initial estimates were suggesting about one million boxing fans would shell out their cash.
"We know based on those early numbers and based on experience the event will perform extremely well. If I had to guess, anywhere between 1.6 million and two million homes, which is a home run," he said.

Now if you go to the USA Today web site they have no article mentioning PPV numbers for this fight, other than an article from a few weeks back when Arum said anything over 800K would be a success. They do however have this in their archives...

De La Hoya-Pacquiao pay-per-view could be 'home run'
http://www.usatoday.com/sports/boxin...pacquiao_N.htm
Based on early reports from cable companies and DirecTV and Dish Network, the scheduled 12-round welterweight bout could get as many as two million buys, according to Bob Arum, chairman of Top Rank, Inc., the event's co-promoter, said Thursday.
When De La Hoya fought Floyd Mayweather last year, that fight did 2.4 million buys. Buys for this weekend's fight in California are tracking at 90% of what estimates showed for De La Hoya-Mayweather.
"Will that hold for the country? It's like an election. Who the hell knows?" Arum said. "But we know based on those early numbers and based on experience the event will perform extremely well. If I had to guess, anywhere between 1.6 million and two million homes, which is a home run."

Same exact quote from Arum in both articles. Either that's one big ass coincidence, or Bob Arum is a robot.
