So is this a reason why manny only fights guys that stand right in front of him and don't defend? Closest one is jmm and we all seen what he did. Just imagine floyd. Do u guys think roach doesn't wanna fight and has not fought a slick fighter because manny just wants a punching bag? This is my first manny vs floyd thread unlike alot of u guys who post 5 a day...Please discuss and keep the hate away
Floyd would go pernell and manny would be chavez
You both do know that fighters still die, right? Boxing is dangerous.
Plus, there is a danger in letting someone rehydrate to a much higher weight than the division weight:
Are you saying Mayweather is afraid of dieing in the ring?
These guys know the circumstances coming into each match. They are highly trained athletes who are the best at what they do. They were made to fight other fit boxers. This is what makes boxing what it was back in Gentleman Jim Corbett's time til today. Guys who don't fight the best don't deserve to be called the best.
Well put Deanrw! It's amazing to me how any boxing fan can overlook this...

You guys need to get off the SSM turned him down bs because Mayweather was the last to turn him down, bro.
Keep making excuses to try and make PBF seem like he isn't picking on lighter weight fighters. Dude the proof is there in front of your own face. He would rather fight Marquez than face, Pac, Cotto, or Mosley, period. Pac saying he will fight Cotto next is telling everyone he is willing to face the best fighters out there. What kind of bs is saying that Roach would rather him face someone who will fight back. Come on now, this is boxing.
Ah, yeah, in a COME BACK fight situation. You can't stay off for 1 1/2 years then jump in with Sugar Shane Mosley. He said, not now.
He is fighting JMM because of Pac. I explained this in detail.
Pac saying he will fight a 142 version of Cotto is saying: I will fight you but first you will have to give me 5 pounds of blood.
Roach doesn't like Counter-punchers that can wait for the attack and give Manny trouble. He saw what JMM did with Pac.
Most actually don't care about excuses or reasons...specifically the casual fan perspective.
actually people make up excuses all the time
Better to just fight healthy and feel confident with your ability.
good point, so those WW should go fight other WWs.
Also, if you lose weight it can also destroy your body's equilibrium and why do that?
for the love of money
They are willing to step in with Cotto if he shows up unhealthy. At least Floyd gives you the option.
How is it an "advantage" if you are fighting guys your size for the exception of JMM (even though Floyd did start at 130 since you just used the "106" card where Manny started at 3 year old?
I wasn't a fan of him fighting Mitchell but Mitchell wasn't smaller. I wasn't a fan of him fighting Judah, but Judah wasn't smaller.
Hatton wasn't smaller either. Fight-time weight.
Not sure he could have fought Cotto because of Arum. Arum wanted to give him Margarito but Floyd didn't want that fight.....O$car was the bigger fight. Also the bigger fighter. And also a fight Freddie made Floyd move up in weight and picked his gloves for him..."Reyes" which he knows aren't such a good thing for a fighter like Floyd who has brittle hands and doesn't like "Reyes" gloves.
He wanted Shane and Shane turned him down.
But there is a picking and choosing...and I see your point. But my point still remains Freddie is far worse.

Well then it is Floyd who is going against the grain. They have long done away with the same day weigh in system as it was dangerous.
So stepping back and looking at it. Floyd has created his own weight class. he refuses to fight established welterweights but instead prefers to fight smaller guys who have come up near his weight range to give himself an advantage.
So according to this thread title, it says roach will only allow manny to fight fighters who fight back.
On the other hand Floyd will only fight the small, or the old and slow?
Like I said depending on what agenda someone has, they can spin it to make make someone look bad.
Yet some have the audacity to claim Roach and Manny are pulling a duck when the guy started out at 106lbs and is actually willing to step in the ring with Cotto. That is hypocrisy at a brand new level.
Well put Deanrw! It's amazing to me how any boxing fan can overlook this...
It's funny how the Mayweather bandwagon unite for such utter bologna much like the bs that comes out of their fighters mouth. Roach will not hesitate to put up Pac against Floyd. DLH was too old to beat Mayweather if he was only 5 years younger at the time they fought he would have won. Pac has more offense than DLH so any logical person can see that he will land his share of puches on PBF. Even when running he will have a hard time against Manny. Just wait and see. Roach is just not willing to give in to Mayweathers demands. So he will go forward and fight another top fighter in the division in Cotto. Would Mayweather do this? HELL NO. You guys are so much on PBF nutz its amazing.
If Ivan Calderon eats his way to 160, that doesn't make him a MW.If Calderon can function properly and not have his skill diminished in any way by "eating" his way to 160 then by golly he'd be a MW. However we are not talking about a guy who ate his way up weight classes but a guy who over the course of 14 or so years has become naturally bigger and hasn't shown any diminishing power or speed en route to his current weight. If anything he's gotten better as he doesn't have to work so hard to make weight and requires less dehydration for weigh-ins. Much like PBF has been doing.

yeah, but here's another perspective...
even if pac beats them at 142, they all have a built in excuse as to why they lost... it won't hurt there career too bad.
but if they lost to each other at 147, then that could really hurt their careers.
Most actually don't care about excuses or reasons...specifically the casual fan perspective.

He is a fighter that weighs under 150 pounds by fight-night but refuses to dehydrate himself like the rest of the JrWW who do it to make weight then rehydrate 7+ pounds by fight-night.
But, he was fighting in the "WW" division and despite what I say above, fighters are allowed to dehydrate and rehydrate so...
he has yet to face Cotto and Shane who I would to see him fight even if they will out-weigh him. Arum would have to step aside and allow that fight to happen with Cotto and Floyd would have to accept. He did offer Shane a fight but Shane had other things to do at the time.
If fighters had to be weighed on the same day as the fight, Pac, Hatton and most of the rest of the JrWW would be in Floyd's divison. Or, if we made them all fight in the actual division weight listed, say WW is 147, then that is where they would fight (if they can weigh at that weight).

What is Floyd anyway? Is he a welterweight or a Jr Welterweight?
Does Floyd even know? Does he stay in no mans land on purpose to avoid the big boys so he can target the little boys?
Can anyone out there answer that question for me? I'm at a loss here.He is a natural WW that can easily make JrWW but refuses to because he doesn't dehydrate to make weight. He'll come into the fight against JMM at like 146 pounds and look alot stroger because he'll be at his natural weight without having to sacrifice much at all to make it. And yes he knows his weight class and is fully aware of the fact I mentioned.
I have mixed feelings on it because I understand how it is.
It's like War and Chivalry: You can fight in an honorable way to see who the best is based on "honorable" means/ways...or you can go for the win and do everything within your power to get the victory. So if that means hiring a Geisha to **** your opponent before the fight and then poison him, so be it.
If it means to sabatoge other things to win...so be it. Hiring spies, so be it. It's War and about survival and about who comes out on top in the end.
I understand that.
It's just not what I would do because in sport, I would like to think everything is on even ground and that I am beating someone at their best in a "Fair" manner.
Example: If I was a HW Champion and I had to pick which version of Ali I could fight, I would pick pre-exile Ali. Why? Because that was Ali at his best. I want to know how good I am. Freddie would pick Parkinson Ali. That's the difference I'm talking about. Freddie just wants the "Name" while I would want the utlimate Victory of beating someone at their best.
Here is another example and I won't go into the entire story to keep it quick:
Alexander the Great: "I will not steal my victory.” - said on the eve of Gaugamela when urged to surprise attack by night.
yeah, but here's another perspective...

Are you playing along with me from what I was responding to or think this is my view with the "no excuses" bs???
I actually did make a thread a while back mocking the "no excuses" theory. Some didn't get it, but others did.
I'm with you on this one bro.......
If Ivan Calderon eats his way to 160, that doesn't make him a MW.
Floyd ate his way there as well but once you get your body adjusted to a certain weight for a long enough time, you get stuck.
And what is "eating" your way there anyway? Not killing yourself with diets and allowing yourself to actually eat a balanced meal/meals through the day?
If you can't make 135 anymore you can't make it.
Manny managed to continue to thicken as he got older so he isn't the small fighter he used to be.
Maybe he likes to eat and put on some fat? You just don't get it do you? That is bulk that Manny has put on. There is nothing natural about it.
As for Oscar, Floyd knew he was old and slow just like roach knew it. Step back and look at the big picture man.Pac might actually be a JWW at the moment. However looking at the WW options for big fights I would probably say seeking those greener pastures with top WWs would not be wise for Pacman, because they won't be coming old and slow like Oscar did.
What is Floyd anyway? Is he a welterweight or a Jr Welterweight?

so then why cry about freddie's games when the fighters want to take the risks???

6% BODYFAT at 152 pounds is "Fat"?
Bulk, yes, but not fat.
What isn't "natural"? How he has thickened???
If it was to much on his frame he wouldn't have the speed and endurance to go with his weight that provides increased strength and power. Unless he is doing something he shouldn't be doing.
