I've seen different defensive boxers all use these Gloves. From Mayweather Jr. to, Hopkins, Roy Jones, Winky Wright etc.
These gloves look huge and its its form seems more fitting for blocking punches.
So how much of a factor do they play into protecting a fighter compared to other gloves?
Its no coincidence that some of the best defensive fighters use them.
If Floyd fights Pac, be sure that Freddie will make Floyd wrap his hands a certain way and force him to wear "Reyes" gloves again like he did with Oscar.
I'm more in favor of fighters wearing "Reyes" gloves anyway...but, it's their hands and if they keep breaking them then they are out of a career.
They are kind of a mix between a punchers glove, and a glove meant to protect your hands.
That's what I heard as well.
Reyes: Pure Punching but might not be so good on the hands.
Grant: Padding and Punching
Winning: Pillows for the brittle hand fighters...less power. Mayweather's favorite.
They are thick with extra padding, I wouldn't know if they play a huge role in defense as Wright still get's his face bruised in his fights. When I use to have them they were great for training on the heavy bag since it would protect my hands. In sparring it was ok for defense, but I prefer the winnings.
