Pacman is very good fighter and has every right to be the best P4P fighter. However, recent fights he's been placed on are somewhat overrated and should not be used as a scale to judge him as a fighter. In the last years he's only fought one good, "A", fighter and thats JMM. All the other were either past glory or were never considered "A" level fighters.
Pacman vs. :
Hatton(almost got TKO by Lazcano, unknown fighter), one-sided, whooping.
DLH(dehydrated), one sided.
D.Diaz(poor guy was a moving punching bag for Pacman), one-sided
Morales(last 2 fights, last one was no competition for Pacman)
Barrera(fill in) one-sided
It's evident Pacman trains so hard, that his fights become so easy, But at what point do you stop giving him easy fighters to truly test him and give the fans their money's worth.
Hand-Picking fighters can only go so far. Agree with or not?
Arum is talking about Chavez Jr. vs. Pacman, ARE YOU SERIOUS???!!!!!
Also they dehydrate his opponents, to a weight they haven't fought in years. This is done to great boxers, recently, and the fight has been decided even before the boxers step into the ring.
Kid you must be confused. No where in my post did I mention Mayweather's name yet you brought him up 3 times. But if you want to bring him in the equation, let's do it. Truth is, Pac shat on his two best wins by beating them in a more impressive fashion. Took him a SD to take care of DLH and a much smaller man in Pac absolutely destroyed him. Something in the back of your mind thought Pac would win? Yea? Well something in the back of my mind is saying you're full of shit.
DLH win was a great win because of the fashion that he did it. You seem forget how high Pac had to climb to get in that fight and the size disparity between both. Did you know Pac debuted in the US at 122 on the undercard of DLH at 154?!?! THAT is why it's a more impressive win than Mayweather's SD bicycle show.
To add, you actually picked Hatton to win by SD and thought it'd be a great fight. Why would make a pick like that if you thought Hatton was damaged goods after Mayweather? Like I said, Hindsight is 20/20.
You think I'm the only one giving this guy credit for destroying DLH and knocking out the UNDISPUTED JR. WW LINEAL CHAMPION in 2 rounds but no. The whole boxing world is. Pundits, historians and fans alike. Opinions that have a lot more weight than puromexicano198's from boxingscene.com
I'm using other boxers to make a point, which is obvious u dont do very much. Be real, credit is given to him where credit is due. But this is just madness.
Pac is the man right now... he's the man to beat.. if u beat him at his best then props to that boxer.. IF all these boxers want a shot at pac they have to come down to his level...correct?...meet Pac at his very best... Pac and his camp love 140, that seems the weight to be in right now cuz the pound for pound #1 fighter IS THERE...its not their fault that other boxer's can't make 140..
He's the champ at 140lbs. That's it. They try to get other great boxers to come down on their natural weight. Which is doublefold against his opponents. Cotto just told them if they want to fight there's a limit and I going lower thats it.
Your an idiot. Read carefully what I'm writing, cause you seem to be the child, handpicking his fighters to then claim he's the best, is a weak argument.
It's coming to light, several threads are starting to post: that Arum and Roach are weight draining Pacman's opponents in order to give them a chance.
Read the news articles you idiot, and read between the lines.
Cotto just announced he wont fight Pacman below 145, i think.
Read, and think. Stop acting like a child.

For example I'm a rockets fan. I wanted Houston to beat LA. Could they have beaten them??? Maybe. If Kobe had a bad day. However, Rockets DID NOT have Yao and TMAC. I still wanted them to win. Not out of logic or taking stats or historical data into account. I was being subjective. Is there a problem with that?

What about his fight vs David Diaz????
That shouldn't of made him ATG. His fight against Morales 2nd, Barerra 1st ad maybe 2nd, Both of Marquez's fight.
Fight against DLH. Something in the back of my mind told me that it was going to be Pac. Everyone admitted DLH was not the same.
HOW CAN ANYONE SAY DLH was in the same shape as he was against Mayweather and Pacman. HOW?!?!?!?!?
There's no WAY!.
2 very different DLH' s. And you want Pacman to get the same credit Mayweather got??? You must have the reasoning of a Child.
Hatton.
Look at his 3 fights prior to Pacman.
after mayweather he wasn't the same. He never was.
Why? which leads me to his against Lazcano.
Lazcano had this Hatton had it not been for his bootlaces, that give him ample time to recover.
Maligninni. He's a joke, blown up joke. Noone knows how, the feather puncher, got to the HBO level. That still remains a mystery. 1 answer= he has a great manager/promoter. Not because of his power.

That is their jobs as trainer and promoter. they are protecting their investment. Makes sense no? I mean as a young fighter on your way up you have to be tested then you get to the point where you have to take risks to prove yourself. At this point PACMAN did that he fought Diaz at 135, he fought ODLH at 147, he fought Hitman at 140. he has proven himself in the lower weight classes and then he took a risk and moved up in weight. I hope you are following me I don't want to go to fast for fear you might miss the point. Now he is in a position of power being the biggest draw in the sport having a house hold name and fighters are going to come to him on his terms and if not he aint going to get into the ring with them plain and simple. he is where the money is right now. To say hi opponents were hand picked is suspect my friendODLH picked him right. he fights for Arum right ODLH picked him not the other way around. Once he beat ODLH it was obvious he was going to fight Hatton. if ODLH won he would have probably fought Hatton next that seemed to be the plan. Most everyone couldn't wait for that fight now that it is over and Hatton got KTFO in 2 short rounds he was HANDPICKED right?......Lefty
It makes sense to protect your asset. Weight drain the BIG NAME opponents and then beat them and say haha he's the best.
Thats where it should stop.
David Diaz= easy belt
DLH=Weightdrained
Hatton=PaperTiger
Roach even admitted that Hatton neer changed his defense. That he always left his chin uncovered before loading up with a left or right hook. What does that say of Hatton. It speaks volumes. He never really improved. he was 1 dimensional.
Pacman just happen to be in a time where the so called best of a weight division are not really that good. or they weight drain them.
Anyway you put it, his pas 2 wins shocked the world, you included I'm sure. Hindsight is 20/20 with DLH. Before the fight I bet all the Pac haters were licking their chops at the idea of DLH destroying Pac. People even wanted to boycott this fight. After DLH's unthinkable destruction, excuses flooded in. But that doesn't take away from Pac going up 2 divisions and 12 pounds to beat a HOFamer in a fight where no one expected him to win.
As for the Hatton fight, people expected a hard earn win but got a 2 round blow out. What more can be said.
You talk about giving credit where it's due but Pac's last two fights are what put him in the talks as an ATG. But you managed to find a way to discredit 2 of his best career wins.
That shouldn't of made him ATG. His fight against Morales 2nd, Barerra 1st ad maybe 2nd, Both of Marquez's fight.

Not really. Pacman is actually a exciting fighter to see, though. He does get better every time.
Funny thing is his recent fights against big names has been too much hype. He's getting over credit for some of the fighters he's facing.
They should give credit where credit is due. Not any time or against anyone.
Also shows your level of indepth thinking, which based off of your comments it isnt much.

LOL A Pac hate thread by a poster names "puromexicano". Still hurts I guess lolol.

Atleast Pac is honest about it when he says:
"Its not my job to see who my next fight is, its my promoters job, I just kick there ass to make people happy and make them ponder retiring, but it looks like your not happy yet, until I retire Marquez, which I will".
True, pacman does say that. Weird, though how he wont pick a fighter. He just wont do it. Arum and Roach probably has him on lockdown.
lol @ the thread title...
thats like saying parents wanting best for their child, as if its shocking... ur supposed to handpick the best available fights for u or ur fighter in boxing.

Saying it is one thing, we'll see though. I never blamed Pacman, like he said, he boxes and his promoters pick the fighters. Personally I think he does a great job training before the match, that's why he performs so well during one.
It's just the quality of fighters he's put up against, who happen to have belts.

My problem is that the thread starter says the Manny has been protected but he picked 5 out of 6 of Manny's opponents, Barrera, Morales, JMM, ODLH and Hatton, to win the fight, which means the poster, himself, does not believe that Manny is superior to these fighters, thus making him a fighter who takes alot of risk and hardly being protected at all.
I believe Manny was only the favourite in 2 of these fights, against Diaz and Hatton. How could a protected fighter be an underdog, 4 out of 6 times?
It doesn't make sense.
Truth right here!!!!

Arum's view of Cotto
Arum probably thinks Cotto is almost finished. Why would he want him to fight PAcman, especially now that he has a new trainer.
Interesting. Cotto's next fight will be interesting, it will serve as a benchmark. to see if Cotto before and with his new coach.
