Ricky Hatton around to his fights? One of the thing I enjoyed about Hatton other than his humble attitude and dry wit was the legion of passionate fans that followed him around. They created a real atmosphere at his fights, that I felt was good for boxing to have.
So the question is, will they continue to go out to his fights in such numbers (especially when he fights overseas) or will they dry up?
While I have the attention of UK fans, I have another question.....
Are Hatton's fans that follow him overseas mainly from the Manchester area, or are they from all over the country (an even assortment)?
all over mate. when they was interviewing his fans yesterday on s sports network over here most of them were from London, Wales, Birmingham and a Scotish fella. He gets support from all over to be honest.
For the record, I hope he does fight more in the USA, and I hope his fans continue to follow him. The atmosphere they create brings a color to boxing (funny since its mostly pasty brits :joke:).
I doubt very much he fights in the states again, but if he did he would still have mass support, probably about 10k would come over (instead of 30k). the rest would just tune in at home though rather than spend all that money in a recession going to Vegas.
He has fans from all over the UK and Ireland, but his main support is in Manchester, they are the ones who watched him fight from the beginning, and not just when he started to make a name for himself domestically.
