On his website mikkelkessler.com Kessler responds to Carl Froch's challenge:
"I would love to fight Froch after the mandatory title defence.
I know it would be a great fight as I believe that we both would bring something special to the ring. He’s a strong as an ox, but doesn’t seem to have any guards or head movement...."
The above is from the english version. On the danish site he adds that "...Carl is strong and awkward but also slow and open like a book. I'd love to fight him. It's one of my dream-matches."
Kessler is a safety first fighter. Kessler will happily jab his way to a decision but Froch will probably force Mikkel to let him have it.
I wouldn't call a man who goes hard for the KO in round 12 despite having the fight handily won on points a safety-first fighter. That was what Kessler did against Andrade.
He doesn't want to exchange punches with Froch i'm telling ya. Froch takes a lot of punishment but he will almost always land one big bomb amongst the flurry. That's the danger for Kessler IMO, but apart from that, this is an easy nights work for Kessler.
So Froch has a harder/tougher chin than Andrade???
I think Marcus Beyer could beat Froch and you saw what Kessler did to him!
Beyer was smashed in the first fight against Danny Green yet won by DQ and in the second fight he outpointed Green...Gren is a big puncher like Froch and could beat Froch as well IMO.
Kessler by a brutal Beyer like KO or wide UD...or Froch by a lucky KO.
He wont win a round.

this is the fight ive been calling for. I think kessler wins a ud froch is far too easy to hit.and yes both would have a chance at a ko ,but id lay my money on kessler by ud.
Do you really think so? WIth Taylor putting leather on Carl's chin so easily, and handing him his first KD? Possible, I suppose, but I rather think that once Kessler saw how easy he can land that right hand, he'd want to close the show, give the fans a great finish.

I agree with everything apart from the bit in the bold and the Kessler KOing Froch bit.
Kessler is likely to repeat the same punches all night, and so he won't surprise Froch. I think it goes the distance as well.
He takes a lot of punishment, but Kessler will fight smart in this fight if it happens and tag him to a wide UD.
Kessler would be in a bit of danger if he went into a war with Froch and exchanged punches. Froch's power is for real IMO and if anyone gets KO'd/TKO'd in this fight, It's Kessler, not Froch!

If the chin is too good, work on the body. If that doesn't work... run.
The thing is....ANY chin can be cracked if it gets caught too often. The only reason I'd go to the body against Froch would be if he stopped being so easy to catch with that straight right like Taylor was throwing.
The guy's chin could actually get him to the top, if he were to learn some skills that would keep him from getting constantly chin-checked at top levels of competition. You should maybe catch 3 or 4 punches like that throughout a fight. He caught maybe twice that in the first round. He's got to get a defensive game going if he doesn't want to end his career early, and in the prone position. He should thank his lucky stars Taylor's conditioning isn't great. That's the only reason he didn't lose an ugly decision.
I notice you think alot of Froch's chin (so do I, one of the best I've ever seen), but he's too hittable. Even guys with iron chins can get KO'd.

taylor has quick hands but i think he was a little gun shy, his jab was lacking and mikkel is much better conditioned and also has a very good jab to set up his right hand. alot of taylors right hand shots were counters, mikkel will land his own right much more often, but even then unless he gets max leverage behind it he won't KD froch.
Leave it out kayjay! Kessler is more skilled then Froch in pretty much every department i'll give you that - and Kessler would win a wide UD, but KO him! No, i can't see it meself. Froch's chin would go the distance IMO.
And another thing, Taylor's hands are faster then Kessler's.
Personally I think Kesslers hand are faster, but Taylor when he lets his hands go can be more fluid. Kesslers combinations punching is excellent but it tends to be more mechanical.
Froch was hurt 3, maybe 4 times from what I can remember, but only seriously the once. Nobody is going to catch right hands like that and not see the lights on queer street eventually. Still, Froch has a fantastic chin, great conditioning, and is a big puncher. These are why he beat Taylor (I'm a huge Taylor fan, but the kid's conditioning is what beats him...see my other post on this fight), not because he's better. If he'd been lacking in any of these three areas, he'd have lost. He just happened to be the Taylor antidote that night.
Against Kessler, however, I give him -1 (to the power of 10) chance of winning. In fact, I'll go on record here saying that, if Froch and Kessler meet, Froch will be seeing his 2nd and 3rd (and maybe 4th) knockdowns, and his first KO loss.
Kessler: Magnificient technician, has cruiserweight power in his right hand, always suberbly conditioned (he's one of the few I've ever seen keep pace with Calzaghe for 12 rounds), and has some of the fastest hands in the division.
Froch: Great conditioning, excellant power, great chin. Remind you of anyone? (Andrade)
No-win situation for Froch. He'd be smarter to take on Pavlik and a few others, after a Taylor rematch, bank some cash, improve his skill and technique. I don't know if he'll be ready for Kessler by then, but he'll be a helluva lot more ready for it than he is now. No way he beats Kessler if the fight happens in the next 36 months.
you're spot on about kess, he is a hard hard puncher, possibly the hardest puncher from 168-175, for one punch KO power i think only AA merits a mention.
kess is supremly conditioned as well, as youve noted, calzaghe normally tires his opponents out and after rnd 10 they visibly slow down and calzaghe comes on strong, he dominates down the stretch. however he has been quoted as saying he found it hard to completely dominate, control and relax against mikkel, mikkel still looked dangerous in there in the later rounds and his power was still there.
if froch thinks he can wear him down like he wore down taylor or how andrade wore down bute then hes mistaken.
personally i think mikkel scores the KO if he really wants to, he is already v.powerful and if he puts everything behind his punches late into the fight he KO's froch who is just too easy to hit. but i think kess would coast to a UD

Kessler has more power than Taylor, faster hands, and is far more highly skilled. Taylor was landing right hands at will...Kessler will be doing the the same with heavier hands, and more often. No way Froch makes it to the closing bell of round 12 on his feet.
The guy has some good things going for him, but a Kessler fight would be a career ender.
