I have watched the fight 4 times now and it's just shocking how Ricky didn't listen to a single thing Mayweather had taught him. Basically every defensive aspect of Mayweather Snr's teaching over the past 3 months had just been thrown out the window - particularly in the first round.
Now, had Ricky actually listened to Mayweather Snr, and kept his gloves up, used head movement, feints and didn't start over aggressive - would Ricky have had a chance to beat Manny?
In the second round, Ricky didn't do too badly. He even shook Pacquiao up with 2 or 3 cleanly landed shots early on in the round. With a better defense, that round would have been pretty close. If he had made it through to the third round and settled more into the fight, coupled with a better defense, does anyone think he would have done quite well? There were signs in the second Ricky could do damage, but his defense was non existant. Pacquiao himself said Ricky was strong and had a powerful punch.
I take ABSOLUTLEY NOTHING away from Pacquiao, by the way. He did something incredible that night, something that no other fighter could do and at a weight he has never faught at. But if it was the Ricky some of us were expecting, how do you think Ricky would have done, considering he had the power to hurt Manny?
:hitit:He needed to survive the first few rounds, once Pacman got tired, Hatton should have gone to work.
hatton will suffer more punishments if he survives early rounds. if hatton hits manny, he will recieve more punches comming from pacman.
hatton was confused and shocked by pacman's fast combinations, especially pacman's right hand that made him knockeddown on the first round, hatton was looking and payed very much attentions at pacman's right hand that always connects everytime he comes forward, he didnt see pacman's faster and stronger left hand that made him knockedout. it is not that he executed there strategy badly, it just his skills is not enough to beat manny, easy to tell that you can execute your tactics and defense very well but when you are inside the ring in from of pacman it's a different story.

When was the last time you saw Pacman ran out of gas?
Hatton's game plan was the same game plan he used against Paulie.. I believe he doesn't respect Pac's power believing in himself that he is the bigger guy and he is the bully. So bad that PAC wallops a punch, unlike Paulie who slaps like a little girl. Hatton was tagged by the same punch against Malignaggi but he just shrug it off and delivers his own barrage of punches.. Hatton cuts the ring better than Diaz but its his defense that is missing in his fight against PAC.
Bingo!!! He really did believe all the above and he got done for it.
Good luck with making someone like pacquiao tired. He probably has the best stamina in this sport. :la:
lol yeah that isnt happening not with someone of Manny's magnitude, I think hatton going down the championship rounds would get tired himself with all the weigh he had to take off and his bad stamina.
"Hatton is not the same fighter after his loss to Mayweather Jr., he took something out of him which is why he was on shaky legs against Lazcano"
- Freddie Roach
Mayweather killed Hatton's chin. Nothing short of the best defense in boxing would have prevented Hatton from getting KO'd by any puncher that night.
will you stop copying and paste that sh1T. that was written all over the board in every thread.. you look dumb showing us your "CTRL-C""CTRL-V" skills..:la:

Mayweather is not a puncher, he could knock out Marquez for all I care and that would only be because of Marquez not doing well at 144 weight. He isn't a puncher. Try fighting Hatton in his own weight class, oh wait that wouldn't happen.

He was caught coming in. If he had fought more defensively which was supposedly the plan (Hatton said he was supposed to move to the left and use the jab) he may have lasted more rounds but surely not the distance.
I actually think Mayweather instilling that defense was part of the problem really, I thought Hatton looked 'caught in between identities' at first, like he didn't know whether to move his head or move his feet, whether he should have thrown the jab or the hook, it just looked like the style that Mayweather tried to teach him and the old style were clashing in there.
Anyways, even if he had been able to execute what Mayweather taught him, he still would have gotten stopped, it was pretty clear Pacquiao was just too quick for him, he didn't know where to look first when Pacquiao was on the attack.

Explains why Ricky didnt listen to Floyd. He had contempt for Floyd and illtreated Floyd. This stupid superiority complex this nobody has ended him in hospital
good read. was looking for some words from ricky post fite. couldnt find any. thanks mann. good to hear hes doing okay and humbly accepts defeat.
I still think he may have been stopped(not like that tho). I think he wudda seen the second half of the fight maybe somewhere round 8-10. I'd give him props if he could stay on his feet all night with some1 so much more skilled than him...
