This should be very very interesting. They dont have much time before the fight and JMM isnt a big PPV star. Thats why I think there going to use some of the spotlight from the Hatton-Pac fight to help sell it. Thats a very smart move. I willl also like to see if how it will work on the 24/7 series considering JMM doesnt speak english. Its no big deal because we know that the Mayweathers can carry that show. The biggest thing that would help this fight is if Pac beats Hatton, espically if he knocks him out because then HBO can really hype up the fact that this is the other P4P guy and he gave Pac hell in 2 fights.
No one knows JMM but if Pac wins then they will really know him after the 24/7. They will say that without a doubt Floyd, Pac, and JMM are the top 3 fighters in the world and everyone will buy into the fact that JMM gave the invincable Pac hell in 2 fights and the fact that Floyd has a chance to come out of retirment and beat them both in back to back fights. Floyd has to do well in this PPV with JMM. He's definatly not going to break records but he has to do well enough to command Pac & Arum's respect at the negotiation table which we all know will be hell
300k maybe a little more
:haha: Damn man, you don't even want to try to be realistic, huh. Mayweather did over 350k against the no US fan base Baldomir. And that was before the De la Hoya 24/7 and publicity, Dancing With the Stars, the Hatton 24/7 and publicity, and acting in Wrestlemania.
Mayweather could clear 450k against Spinks, against Marquez he's doing over 550k easily and if he does and Pacquiao-Hatton doesn't overlap what Mayweather Hatton did, than Pacquiao should give up at least 60/40.
7 buys including yourself right?
I would watch this fight on regular HBO as long as nothing was on Showtime. Honestly I used to watch Floyd just to hope he would lose. Now that he has been away from the sport I just dont care anymore. If he loses in his return it wont mean as much to me as it would of if he had lost before. He said his body was having a harder time in training and recovering and that it was taking its toll on him. Seeing him lose now wouldnt be the same (although he wont lose to a little JMM thats for damn sure.)
id say around 600k ppv buys
i sometimes talk shit about mayweather but honestly, i recognize what he's capable of doing. he has ATG skills but doesnt put them to the test against ATG oppostition. if mayweather wasnt such a self centered, egotistical asshole - i'd be rooting for him in every one of his fights. this dude has what it takes to be a bad ass mofo @ WW but instead chooses to take the easy route to victory. i fully appreciate money may for his skills but i can never consider myself a "die hard" fan due to his childish antics out of the ring.
He knew the big bad WWs were coming for him.
so you think the Floyd-JMM fight is unfair but you could care less when Floyd has came into the ring at WW on fight night at 146-148 while the other WW's have came in at 162-170. Thats fair, right? I cant beleive how people dont care about that at all.
I thought all the publicity should help him get it close though? You think he can do 750+ by himself at least? lol
Lets be fair though. The man did retire immediatly after all of that so its not like he's having this fight right on the heels of that stuff
NO 24/7...You can't do one for every fight it becomes to tedious and boring if you keep doing these, a countdown show would be enough. 500K PPV buys.
I agree with that 100% but you have a Mexican that doesnt speak english and hasnt had huge PPV sales. You have to do it for this fight more then any other fight. On top of that Floyd "claims" that he's the one that came up with the 24/7 concept and if there's any family that wont ever let the show go boring, its the Mayweathers. Besides, its not like they run 24/7 alot. You probably just feel that way because youre coming off of 4 weeks of it but by time this fight comes around you wont mind seeing it. Also, lets be real. Pac-Hatton and RJ-Calzaghe arent half as good on 24/7 as the dysfuctional Mayeathers. They will definatly have it because not only will he boost this up but he will boost up his next fight and diss everyone in boxing. It will be fun to see what he says to Juan though because JMM has showed Floyd pretty much more respect then any other boxer has. JMM has always given Floyd props so it will be interesting to see if Floyd rips him at the same rate as others. My guess is that he will but will be really sympathetic to Juan after the fight. Besides, these are 2 of the top 3 best guys in boxing. If any fight warrants a 24/7 its this one more then any other
While Marquez isn't a huge name like DLH nor a marketable fighter like Hatton (24/7, speaks English)...he's got a fairly solid fan base in America, becoming more popular recently with the Mexican fans.
Mayweather's fights with Gatti, Baldomir, and Judah all did around the 325 to 375k range, while Marquez's fight with Barrera did in the 225 range and 400 range for Pacquiao 2.
I'll say this one does a little more than the Pacquiao rematch.
Mayweather may draw some mainstream fans with his return and the fact that at least his last fight ended in exciting fashion, but not too many, with July usually not being a big month for PPV fights, and the economy of course doesn't help much either.
