I think people are getting carried away by both of these fighters last performances. The fact is hatton is still undefeated in this weight class and pac has never actually fought at 140. So regardless of what people think that pac is the current p4p king this fight is really up for grabs.
This is a 50-50 fight IMO. The fighter who can impose his style through out the fight will win it!
what you think?
What did the ref have to do with the 8th round and on when May let his hands go and beat the shit out of Hatton?
Weebler stop being a sore loser.....its embarassing to a champion like Hatton to have you as one of his cry baby fans.
The ref allowed Mayweather to land on Hatton; that isn't allowed :davil2:
:lol1:
The Weebler II;5175181]No he wasn't and especially not in the first 6 rounds.
No, he cheated and the ref let him away with it and repeatedly picked on Hatton.
How did he pick on Hatton?
He didn't allow him to grapple?
He didn't allow him to hit and hold?
He didn't allow him to rabbit punch?
That doesn't equate to saying he was stronger. Although he was more comfortable at the weight, chiefly because Floyd refused to fight at 140 or a catch-weight.
He couldn't move Floyd and Floyd tied Hatton up. Floyd used Hatton's tactics against him. Floyd used such tactics for two reasons: One, to get inside Hatton's head because when you try to bully someone and you can't bully them, and there is no other game-plan, you get frustrated and lose control.
Two: The more Floyd holds and Hatton holds, the more likely the ref will break it up quicker. If one fighter does it, it's only half as bad. Two fighters do it, and the crowd will boo, which in return will get the ref to break it up as soon as possible. Go watch Dempsey vs. Firpo and watch how quickly the ref breaks them apart.
Nonsense, Mayweather was under real pressure and the ref relieved that pressure for him.
Mayweather allowed that pressure to come to him and like he has been doing for a while at 147, he just sits there and waits until around the mid point and picks up his pace. If that was the lighter-weight Floyd, Floyd would come out and fight from round 1 by using his agility/feet, his jab, combos, etc. Lighter-weight Floyd beats 147 Floyd.
The Tszyu thing was made up by Mayweather in 24/7, no one mentioned it before that but since then all you have is Floyd nuthuggers claiming Hatton cheated. Why? because Hatton did something Mayweather didn't have the balls to do, take on Tszyu and beat him.
No it wasn't. It was talked about right after the fight on this forum. I talked about it as well as many others.
For Tszyu vs. Mayweather: Wrong again. Mayweather moved up to 140 to take on Tszyu but there were obstacles. Tszyu was on SHOWTIME and Mayweather was on HBO. The only way you could get those two together would be for a PPV fight and to do that, they both needed a boost in popularity...so Floyd fought Gatti, an HBO fighter and also a title holder and Tszyu fought Hatton for big money on Showtime since Hatton was a Showtime fighter. If Tszyu beat Hatton, and Floyd beat Gatti (which he did), the fight was supposed to be next. Floyd talked about fighting Tszyu a lot.
Nonsense, once again Mayweather got away with everything and was protected on the inside by Cortez in the first 6 rounds, he couldn't live with Hatton and the ferocious pace he was setting but the ref was his insurance policy.
Keep telling yourself that. When Mayweather decided to open up, each time he got the better of Hatton. Hatton got knocked out.
Sr. is going to do nothing but hold Hatton back. If Hatton is going to win this, it'll be the old Ricky who does it.
And what if Ricky shows up with what Sr. taught him and wins?
He threw like two punches....Kid was afraid to throw for fear of breaking his hands again...which he has done many times before and needed surgery each time. At least that was his side to it. He has shown to do similar things in the past after coming off surgery and not wanting to throw and looked bad in the process.
no Malinaggi was winning and outboxing Hatton until Hatton landed a huge shot in the 4 round and hurt Malinaggi. He stopped throwing after that.
But I liked what Hatton was doing as far as just looking at him putting on a display of what he is now. But we'll see if that works when he has a "live" fighter in there. I hope so because it will make for a great fight.
it's all smoke and mirrors pad-tapping bullshit. If he's going to win, the real Ricky Hatton will have to come out, the warrior who doesn't stop for nothin.
(nothing apart from the ref that is, the only person who has beat him in his career).
You do realize that every time Floyd and Hatton were separated by at least a foot, Floyd was whooping Hatton's ass.
No he wasn't and especially not in the first 6 rounds.
Floyd also took away Hatton's own game by reversing tactics against him: He bullied the bully.
No, he cheated and the ref let him away with it and repeatedly picked on Hatton.
Floyd proved stronger than Hatton and Hatton said this himself that he was surprised at Floyd's strength.
That doesn't equate to saying he was stronger. Although he was more comfortable at the weight, chiefly because Floyd refused to fight at 140 or a catch-weight.
Hell, I didn't even think that was the best version of Floyd. The best version of Floyd was left below 147. That Floyd fought from Round 1 and threw more punches and behind a stiff jab. This Floyd was ready to retire and did so afterwards. Floyd could have made things a lot easier if he fought the way he did Chico: jab and move; throw some combos, etc. He could have picked apart Hatton from round 1. But he did what he wanted to do and beat Hatton at his own game.
Nonsense, Mayweather was under real pressure and the ref relieved that pressure for him.
What's funny is that some people complain about that fight yet they forget the same thing happened to Tszyu in regards to Hatton getting the unfair advantage with the holding and dirty tactics. Yes, he did what he had to do against the Old Man but...if that was in the States, even at that stage of Tszyu's career, you wonder if it would have been different.

Oh, and if Mayweather-Hatton was in the UK, and the holding and dirty tactics were allowed like they were with Tszyu...unless the ref is totally bias and only warns and takes point away from Floyd, then Hatton would have been still KTFO if they both were on even ground of letting everything go. Floyd was just to good, to skilled, to smart, and to strong for Hatton that night.
Nonsense, once again Mayweather got away with everything and was protected on the inside by Cortez in the first 6 rounds, he couldn't live with Hatton and the ferocious pace he was setting but the ref was his insurance policy.
I'm hoping Sr. really has re-energized Hatton; it seems so. Ricky also seemed to buckle-down with Sr. at the helm.
Well, Pac should be favored. Even Freddie Roach said Hatton looks past it since fighting Floyd. If Freddie is right, then Pac will win unless Ricky gets lucky with a body shot or something.
Sr. is going to do nothing but hold Hatton back. If Hatton is going to win this, it'll be the old Ricky who does it.
However, if Hatton can show up at his best, and take what he has been reportedly doing in camp into the fight, and stick with it, I would make him the slight favorite.
If he ignores what he's been doing in the camp, he'll win comfortably.
what you on about, Malinaggi did throw.
He threw like two punches....Kid was afraid to throw for fear of breaking his hands again...which he has done many times before and needed surgery each time. At least that was his side to it. The vast majority of people, posters, bookies, writers think Pac's going to win, hell I'm a massive Hatton fan but even I think Pac could well beat him.
It would be a mammoth upset.
His performance against Mayweather isn't a worry, he did everything which the ref let him do, he can't control the referee. As for Lazcano, the guy had been crying, eating and drinking for 4 months, not really a reflection of his ability.

He looked great aginst Paulie...a super fast slick boxer.
Hatton will take this.
Yes, but how much was that because Paulie was afraid to throw in fear of breaking his hands?
I don't want to take anything away from Ricky because he looked great that night as far as what he was doing differently from before, but, Paulie made it easier for Ricky if you go by Paulie's reasoning why he didn't throw. But maybe it was just an excuse for getting schooled. It is reasonable though given his injuries and surgeries...and past fights where he avoided throwing with one of his hands that broke in a fight before.
I do think Hatton would have beaten him anyway, especially the way he was using the jab and following up with combos. That jab looked lethal.
I just wish there was another fighter in there that we know was 100% game to fight so that we could get a better understanding of where Hatton is.
Who is everyone....the writers?
I'm not. I think he can win and if he can show up at his best, I slightly favor him. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if he knocks Pac out.

The one thing that concerns me is that performance against Lazcano. Mayweather as well, but different fighter. If he shows up like he did against Lazcano, forget it.

Well since Pac has all of two fights above 130, neither of them against a top 3 fighter in their division, I'd say Hatton shouldn't be that much of a dog. People take this whole p4p thing a bit too literally.
It's a huuuuuuuuuuuge upset and a career high if Hatton wins.
Everyone is writing him off.
