Styles make fights. Froch can be outboxed, even Groves did it, and so did Taylor, Kessler and Dirrell. Froch would find it hard to hit Cal and Calzaghe was not someone that is easily KO'd.
So you admit it's kind off a toss up now?
I agree with the bolded above. I just think that after the Super 6 tournamnet I gained a lot more respect for Froch.
I had to bring this back hind site is 20-20 i am not so sure about Calslappy and Froch......

I can understand that, if you're European. Most American viewers laugh horribly at his slapping pitty pat style. Dont get me wrong Hop looked bad because of what he said but you have got to be a complete dumb ass if you didn't think that was to SELL the fight...
Anywa back home in Wales I'm sure hes a legend and that's good for him. In America he's a joke and as Mayweather, he will never get credit....
As far as Calzaghe giving Jones a "fit" in any era, Yes that's possible but IMO Joe wouldn't handle Jones with prime legs. Jones beats him any day of the week prior to 2004. Its after that for obvious reasons he couldn't/didn't cut it... There are threads where Joe has stated the same thing. But he's retired so who cares. Most probably don't even know who the hell where even talking about. He was so 2 years ago.... lol

Calzaghe would give Jones fits in any era:boxing:
And give me a fcuking break ..if anybody got laughed at in the Hopkins v Calzaghe fight it was Hopkins...it was Hopkins that was reduced to racist comments...,holding and hugging, spoiling throughout the fight ...and when hopkins the tough ex-con was crawling around on all fours begging/ cheating and asking the ref to take away points for fake low blows ...me as a boxing fan found that cringe worthy to watch ! :lol1:
He new calzaghe was to good for him...he just didnt want calslappy looking good beating him:boxing:

I thought Lacy was an exposure fight...Did that not get Joe's name on th emap here in the States? I mean i did not know who Calzaghe was until I saw that fight. Besdes I still think Froch couldn't wash Joe's boxer shorts anyways....Lefty
Nobody did prior to the Lacey fight. Nobody gave Joe a chance in that fight because they assumed he was just another European bum so WHY would they?
Lacey was the never has been. He was overly hyped by most all. Point is even after that fight Joe was a nobody. The Manfredo fight was supposed to be the second coming exposure fight due to a "TV STAR". Didn't work. He was horribly laughed at by most everyone I knew including me. He didn't get any exposure stateside until Hopkins bad mouthed him. He was laughed at even more once he "beat" an old man.
Over all point Joe still slaps the idiot Froch all around the ring just as Dirrell did minus the running around. Dirrell boxed and moved. Remember the whole hit and dont get hit? That's what Dirrell was doing. Froch got frustrated and resulted into dirty tactics. Plain and simple. But yes Froch is a complete bum and Joe would slap him around for 12 rounds. I would beat that Jones Jr who was just destroyed by Green would beat Froch. He's too limited and very open.
I didn't say proud. You said exactly what I said but in different words. You could see that when the ref called the fight Joe looked disappointed. It was a fight to get his name out there. He used the many terms about Manfredo to hype the fight. It was just to get his name out there. I never mentioned if he was proud or not. Of course it was for a pay day. Same thing Mayweather dose but gets shit for it right???? Its always for a payday but when its Mayweather that's a different story.
Manfredo was a stepping stone to get Joe's name out there. Peter was an American TV show "star" nothing more nothing less. All I was saying was Peter was an exposure fight. I never said he was proud of it.

You're wrong about that, yet you speak on it as though it's fact.
FACT: Joe didn't even want that fight. HBO did. Calzaghe did interviews with Steve Bunce and said very openly "I'm bored of these kind of fights, I can't get up for it at all." The fact that he got a good pay day sweetened the deal, but the main intention was to get Joe's his name out there to the USA boxing fans, that's all. BTW, Ray Leonard said Manfredo could beat Calzaghe. :lol1:
You don't know shit if you honestly think Calzaghe was proud of that fight, wanted that fight, or wanted to prove he'd fought "one of the best" from America. Joe knew Manfredo was shit and knew he was nowhere near America's best. He did it for the money. Easy night's work.

i know i'd do that shit in a heartbeat
cant hate on him for wanting to live a nice comfortable(and healthy) life after boxing
Calzaghe was a millionaire before the fight with Manfredo.

I would have done it too. 35,000 fans in your hometown turn up to see you slap a nobody around for 10 minutes? **** yeah, I'd do it. I don't even think Joe trained for that fight.

Ohhhhhhhh, when the Super Six ties were announced, the Abraham match-up was the one that made me immediately fear for Froch's health.
LOL Have a good one, WESS. :usa2:
Thanks, and way to be a sport since I consistently trashed Froch! Its all out of love. I've praised Froch at times, just wasn't impressed with the outcome last weekend. But its what ever. I never had Dirrell winning the entire super six anyway.
anyway i'm out!
A key or stepping stone for Calzaghe to say he fought one of "the best" from America in his hometown to look good. Nothing more nothing less.

Manfredo = American People's Champ, babiez !!
Froch is limited, no doubt. I'll still give him an inkling of a shot against Joe, dependent on him landing something big, which I refuse to completely rule out having watched Joe for years.
Gatti was a "PEOPLES CHAMP"! Manfredo was a reality TV show "star"... so to speak.
A key or stepping stone for Calzaghe to say he fought one of "the best" from America in his hometown to look good. Nothing more nothing less. Manfredo was and is still nothing more than "a guy that fought on that tv show ROCKY started"...
anyway as I said Froch loses his next to fights, one possibly by way of knock out. Far fetched but if someone where to do it, AA would be the man because Froch wants to stand there and bang. AA will me the man to do it. Kessler just out boxes him to an easy UD.
but speaking of boxing...... off to the gym my friend.
Well, all the Roy fans were on a delusional nostalgia trip for that fight, so you can be forgiven.
I can agree that Carl would probably be beat handily by Joe, but I don't know about him getting Manfredo'd.
I always said if Jones had legs for that fight he would beat Calzaghe. He did not. lol I think they died in round one. Rewind 10 years to "RJ" and you have a different story.
As for Mafredo that was more of a joke as where the fight and the fat POS ref. Ultimately Manfredo was in over his head as he was NEVER an "American Champion" as he was claimed to be. But the stoppage was horrible and I could see it happening again just not as dramatic that early on. That or Froch fighting dirty to a DQ.
Froch is very limited, and a limited fighter cant do what Calzaghe did to Kessler.
You're a closet Calzaghe fan. Most of the board is, they just dare not admit it because it's... not cool.
No sir I am no fan of Joe Calzaghe other than the fact he has some Italian in him I have nothing in common with he or his fans. I do no hate Clazaghe either. Depending on whom he was fighting I might route for him.....Lefty
I am not even a fan of Calslappy but seriously period end of story....Lefty

Wait, wait, wait, WESS, you madman, you.
Calzaghe doesn't fight like Dirrell. I just said Calzaghe is a more taggable fighter for Froch, not that Carl should be favored in a meeting of the two.
I invite you to take your impassioned screed to one Welter_Skelter, who has been saying Froch would beat Calzaghe for time now based on styles. He might enjoy an exchange with you over this one.
lol I know Calzaghe doesn't fight like Dirrell. I'm just saying that Calzaghe's style would overwhelm Froch. Add a BIASED ref and its over before it started. Especially if its in Calzaghe's hometown as it would be IF he came back. Dont get me wrong, I cant stand EITHER of them. So in all reality I could care less on who won. But I've bet against Calzaghe before (against Kessler and wishful thinking vs Jones) and look where its got me......
a mandman I am! lol
Froch would have a better shot at hitting Joe with something big than he did Dirrell. Calzaghe squared up a lot and was open to an uppercut. If Froch has a chance at landing his 'Cobra Sting' ("the uppercut if you like") on any world class opponent, it would probably be Joe - but Joe takes them well.
You'd still strongly favor Calzaghe, whatever.
Are you serious? "The COBRA STING". If he couldn't "STING" a "GREEN", never been tested, never fought anyone, never did this, never did that, never won a championship, never never never, type contender. Froch sure as hell won't even touch Calzaghe. Let alone land a "COBA STING". Froch is slow, he cant move, he cant punch without being off balance, actually he cant do much at all. But I will say he's a lucky SOB with wild and solid power.
But the truth is, he barley got passed a "GREEN' contender and got beat by Taylor for 98% of the fight with a desperate "lucky" KO victory. I give him all the props for what he's done but that doesn't make him a good fighter or even an OK fighter. He's still shit (the real smelly kind too, like after a night of drinking beer or BEER SHITS if I may) and the US just laugh at him worse than they do/did to Calzaghe. Froch wants "respect" by the American public, well I'm sorry he was just royally boo'ed and laughed at..... Seriously.
If you where to take Calzaghe and have him sleep with a retarded she-man, Froch would be the baby.
Anyway he loses his next fight. He wants someone that will sit there like an idiot and bang toe to toe, Well Kessler and AA have all the skills to embarrass him JUST as a "GREEN" amateurish "never done anything" CONTENDER just did. I would bet that Ward beats him pretty solidly too. Just as the "GREEEEEEEEEEEN" contender in Dirrell 'ALMOST" did (thank you judges, you saved Croch on that one). Its sad when your the "Champion" and a GREEN contender embarrasses you.
But all jokes aside, I also happened to enjoy the Froch Dirrell fight. Everyone talks as if it was boring.... I didn't find it boring at all. Just ridiculous when the ref seemed to warn and deduct points from Dirrell when in fact it was Froch fighting dirty, and there is a difference in leaning on someone/holding and fighting Dirty. Completely two different things. Dirrel was leaning/holding while Froch was fighting Dirty. Mostly because he was embarrassed and didn't know what to do because yes the GREEEEEEEEEEN Contender in Dirrell was out boxing him.
Overall point from this stupid (LONG) book.... Calzaghe brings back the "Mortal Combat" and puts a "FINISH HIM" move in the very first round by way of super slap windmill punch. Ref jumps in just like he did vs Manfredo and stops the fight..... that or Froch gets DQ'ed when he's completely frustrated and has no other option but to fight dirty as he did vs The "GREEN" Dirrell. The fight ends early and it will be more disappointing than knowing it will never happen in the first place.
I'm also waiting on what Calzaghe has to say about the fight...
Think about this......There is a reason the punch stats for Froch Dirrel aren't released..... the truth would be out.... incompetent judging officials, and add the ref to the list. I think he was confused the entire night as well.
So does anyone believe that at this point Carl could now wash Joe's boxers or would Joe still slap the sh@t out of him?....Lefty
lol If Froch can get a "lucky" SD by a "GREEN" contender in Dirrell, what the hell do people think Calzaghe would do?
If its the judge that was used for the Calzaghe Manfredo fight, Froch loses in the very fist round by super windmill TKO.... FROCH has ZERO chance at beating Calzaghe and I dont even like Calzaghe so that's not saying much.
So to answer you question... hell no, Froch is complete shit. No wonder Joe doesn't want anything to do with him. Joe already fights sloppy. Imagine two sloppy ass fighters. One that slaps the entire time..... In all seriousness, Joe whoops his ass with a possible stoppage by a biased ref.
