Watch :59 and 1:01 in the 2nd fight when he goes to the body with a weak left. Not only does he lean in but his right hand is down, which is usually the problem when inexperienced big guys try to fight small.Practicing body shots is what sparring is for.Wilder won't see 10 fights unless he fixes that.Against a fighter with a good right hand and a little smarts Wilders head would end up in the 12th row with the beer man.
seen him on fnf most recent.
he's just starting out.
6'7 and 84" reach!
only four fights under his belt.
lets hope!!!
the hvwt division is pathetic!
i hope haye gets lucky and gets w out of there.
w is bad for boxing!
Wilder needs a lot more fights and i think he needs to do a lot of sparring with top fighters to, Hamer looks better at the moment but i think Wilder will improve a lot.
he's not really all that skilled. he's got an alright jab and a powerful right hand. perfect for the amateurs, but you need more depth to be a successful pro. i'm pulling for the dude though.
I'd hope most Americans have heard of him. He was the only US medalist from Beijing (aside from the fact that Andrade got ROBBED). He's raw though. Hopefully Golden Boy does a Danny Jacobs with him and keeps him hella active. He needs a lot of fights before he's ready for the big time.
Yeah Deontay should fight 20-25 more bums before he crack the top 25. It's fun watchin him and Tor Hamer progress. Deontay GAIN WEIGHT......That's about it.
has anyone else heard of deontay wilder?
he's only had like 5 pro fights but i reckon he might have potential
do you agree from what you've seen?

Yeah he has some skills, mainly in power but he has little experience at all really. He learned to box in a relatively short span of time and became a member of the US Olympic team because of a a string of upsets during the trials.
He has tremendous height advantage at 6ft-7inches and a hell of a right hand.
Sometimes he leans in when he throws as noted by Teddy Atlas during Friday's fight. He is smoking past his level of comp now, but at a higher lever he may get tagged and I am not sure how well he can take a punch.
