The last time he made this weight was 4 years ago?
What you guys think, i mean theres guys on here that bring up Floyd's fight night weight, how much did he weigh on fight night against Hatton and Baldomir?
Man, i just hope he doesnt stress to make weight.
Weight divisions is exactly that. WEIGHT divisions. Not height divisions.
this is true, but what about fight night weight? i think that means something
..........?

It's very simple, no rocket sciecne involved.
If you can cut down barely to 146-147, then you are a big welter.
If you can cut down to 141-142, then you are a small welter.
A small welterweight would be maybe Pernell. Floyd isn't really. People say that just cuz he moved up. He's 5'8. Cotto is 5'7. Shane and Clottey are around there somewhere. Margarito's a big welter.

at 144 and below there is a serious chance that floyd is dehydrated... but I still expect him to be good enough to treat jmm as a tune up.
Don't worry floyd fans,he is still bigger than Marquez, lower than 145 just means the fight is a tad bit more even!!Official weight is the only weight that counts, fighters are given a day to recover their weight after weight ins, thats the way it is!!147 is 147,if he is too small for it move on down,or just fight smaller guys at catch weights for the rest of ur career, but there are welterweights out there to fight if 147 is where u wanna be!!!!
Height doesn't mean shit, especially when none of the tall men you listed even use theirs. :lol1:

I think the worry (if any) is another one, what happens next? It took Mayweather years to barely fill up at 147... I think he has bicthing about the weight is in case pac loses, and the best option becomes a Cotto or Mosley. Having trained to fight lose to 140 would come back to haunt him in that case. I would not be surprised if the catchweight was determined after may 2nd.
I want it at 145, that seem fair. Maybe even close to 143. I just hope it ent at 140.
Whats with the catchweights?
There are divisions for a reason.
That is whats fair. Fighting under the rules, not bending them in your favor.
lol at the sudden change of heart.
"Floyd could easily make 140",
all of a sudden, the stans are realizing that either, he can't make the weight, or doesn't want to when hes bringing up a SFW to welter.
big welterweight - margarito, cintron, williams, clottey
average welterweight - cotto, mosley, berto, quintana, collazo
small welterweight - mayweather, judah, brook
There is no big, average, and small.
They're all Welterweights because they all fight (or fought) at 147lbs.

I've never understood the concept of 'a small welter'. Is that a junior welter or do you think we need another weightclass?
Sorry but I just don't get it.
I don't either.
He needs to fight realy Welters or piss off to 140, where he probably belongs.
No more of this catchweight bullshit, and having guys move up to 147 to fight him, when he's supposedly not even a 147lbs fighter himself.
He's in a phantom weightclass, apparently.
you are worry for nothing ....
people dont understand that just because a fight is set at the 147 pound limt doesnt mean you have to come in as 147 pounds.
147 is the limit.
so you could possibly see JMM come in at 141-142
and floyd come in at 146-147

Can anybody answer this question?
He said he's willing to fight at 143.
Well JMM would say anything for a couple of million bucks and so would most fighters.
Perhaps I should rephrase my question: As a fightfan what weight do YOU think the fight should be made if it is to be fair?
I want it at 145, that seem fair. Maybe even close to 143. I just hope it ent at 140.
145 fair? To who? I doubt JMM would want the fight that high. I think he'd prefer 135.

Am i the only Floyd fan thats worried if the fight with JMM happens below 145? | BoxingScene Community
