If Mayweather vs Marquez doesn't happen then it looks as if he could face Spinks which i think is a good comeback fight for him as long as he fights the best after that but why when he's got his own promotional company is he teaming up with Don King?
No way Floyd fights Spinks now. Spinks obviously isnt a power guy but I still dont see Floyd coming back and going to 154 in his 1st fight. There is also no way that Spinks can come down in weight at this stage of his career. I disagree with people who say that it will be boring. Its the same thing alot of people say about Floyd-JMM. What they dont realize is that Floyd is aggressive against someone his own size or guys who arent physical enough to push him around. Even if the Spinks fight is just techniqal I would still love it. I love those fights more then any other kind. So much skill involved. Its truly the art of the sweet science
I agree with you on this.
I actually think that Mayweather-Spinks in 2009 is a much more entertaining fight than it would've been in 2006.
I would give Floyd more credit for fighting Spinks than I would for fighting JMM.
Honestly I give them both slim chances of beating Floyd so they fall into the same boat. To me JMM makes sence if he is really gunning for Pacman, but making a fight with Pacman may be tough. Fighting Spinks makes a lot more sence if he wants to fight at 147 or 154 against Shane Mosley.
Floyd would most likely get paid more against JMM but Don King probably could promise Floyd a lot of money (really how much does Spinks have to get paid?).
It would be interesting to see what King does with a big time event, he has kind of fallen off but I think he understands how to sell a fight. It is an odd couple but well matched, Don King will really sell the fight (ain't nobody that can sell a fight like Don King, not even Bob Arum) but he really needs Floyd to make the event Spinks is a fine b-side, would be a real gauge of Floyd's star power (a pretty big gamble).
It's just not something to get pumped about. I love Floyd I want him back real bad, but it's hard to get pumped for Floyd/Spinks. Floyd's comeback should be a huge event.
Yea, I guess but really it is not a bad fight it almost happeaned before. If it happeaned back then it would have been a snoozer but today I think it is a little more fan friendly (Spinks has less legs and his lack of power will not stop Floyd from doing whatever he wants to do). I think Spinks is a really good fighter and could give a bunch of 154 pounders issues that are not as good boxers as him, but I view Floyd as all wrong for him, atleast if he fights like he did against Latimore and Verno.

spinks is a good tune up... what weight they gonna fight at?
God, I'm praying it's not Spinks.
I'm a huge Mayweather fan, but that fight would be a snoozefest.
Spinks is not the same guy anymore. He might up his game a bit for a Floyd fight, but at some point he will be unable to move. Now Spinks is a pretty good boxer, I always though he was legs an no more but he fought all in the inside against Verno and Latimore (he really did not get hit clean all that much).
Against Mayweather however standing still will cost him (imo), and I doubt that Mayweather has any respect for Spinks power so I do think he will fight in a more fan friendly way.
I consider Spinks as pretty good still but I think Mayweather will beat him, if Spinks saw the final bell I would be very impressed with him.
Oh well, are people gonna complain about Spinks being his tune up? I hope not

Spinks is also slick enough, defensive enough and definitely fast enough to pull off an upset against someone coming off a long lay off. It would be a difficult fight for Floyd, IMO.
