Hey guys, thought i'd interupt the Froch/Taylor talk for a bit and wind back a little over a decade :p
So, Oliver McCall is heading back to the ring, with a fight scheduled in late May, and has visions of another shot at the championship one day. There's a few things floating around on youtube, interviews and training mainly, and he seems in completely sound mind; very focused and seems to have a very calm and collected drive.
So, how far do you think he will go? do you still think he can get run over by a truck and stay standing? do you think he still packs that killer right hand? Would you LIKE to see him again? mebbe in with one of hte Klits, Haye, Arreola?
Sorry for the rather uninspired thread, I for one am looking forward to seeing him back again and honestly hope he gets another shot.
His son is going to be on the same card as him next month. He's only 21, so maybe he has a future too, although I haven't seen him yet. That was a decent win for McCall beating Sam in his backyard, even if Sam isn't that great. It was a very strange fight. Sam didn't look like he knew where he was at times lol.
But yeah, McCall will always be very dangerous.
If his chin is anything like what it used to be I think he'd definitely be a stiff challenge for either of them. Also, if he still has the power he used to then he could definitely take Wlad out, in theory (the skill divide would probably negate this though) and I think could give Vitali something to think about.
I really hope he's still got it in him, i'd love to see him in there with some of the current HW's. If he's anything like he was in the 90's then I think he'll make it to at least a title shot.
Yeah, back then he was completely off the map, with a lot of mental issues coupled with a self-destructing personal life (typical HW fighter basically). He seems completely fine now though, very rational and calculating.
