Last year Dawson called out Kessler for a fight at 175 lbs. When offered the fight at a catchweight he turned Kessler down despite the fact that Dawson was the one who called out the smaller man.
Today Dawson says he's ready to move down to 168 lbs.
This is not the standard NSB duck IMO.
Dawson blatantly DUCKED Kessler.
Bad Chad!
because kessler is'nt the one that has to establish himself by fighting better opposition...joke =P
Bingo.
And Nelson, it was Tarver who triggered the rematch clause, not Dawson.
I think Dawson's recent change of heart is mainly due to the Lt. heavyweight division being dried up. Much greener pastures reside at 168.
It basically is where the money is for him. Seeing Froch as the WBC champ gave him that extra push.
I do bet you this though, it will be Froch he will go after first. I guarantee it.
gotta agree, 175 is a wasteland
Well no disrespect but Kessler has not fought anyone tough ever since he lost to Calzaghe, so to say Dawson is ducking him is kinda strange. About 2 weeks ago when Dawson was on that radio blog, i heard him say that he actually wanted the Kessler fight and he gave his strategy on how he would tactically approach him.

Your own quote from Palle doesn't mention any catchweight. It says no for two reasons:
1. Dawson doesn't bring enough to the table.
2. He's really a cruiser.
No mention of a catchweight. Just really strange reasons to turn down an HBO date against a credible opponent.
Catchweight wasn't mentioned in that post, but has been made and shown several places. You know about it since you yourself was all over those threads.
Indeed. Calzaghe was accused of ducking any American here near his weight class after they won, so now that Froch won a big one Dawson is ducking him. If Dawson fights Kessler he's ducking Froch, if Chad fights Froch he's ducking Kessler and Bute. If he ever does fight either and win then they're overrated or past their prime, that's the NSB way... Well said, and 100 % accurate :hail:
3lbs Nelson, 3lbs!!!!
if chad dawson really wanted to fight kessler he should of went down, like you said 3lbs, if you want to fight someone you can't go down 3lbs?
Not true. They offered a catchweight fight or at 168.

show me....is it an official article?
It was all over the danish press at least:
Mikkel Kessler's promotor Mogens Palle has turned down an offer from HBO for Mikkel Kessler to fight Chad Dawson.
Palle states to danish TV2 that: "Dawson is a cruiserweight squeezing down to 175 lbs and he does not bring enough to the table".
Dawson's challenge has been all over the internet. It was also here on boxingscene.
you just posted an article where it says, KESSLER has tried to get fights with hopkins, dawson, calzaghe, winky, etc. etc.....nobody wanted to fight him...
they offered dawson a fight at SMW or at a catchweight, dawson said he was the LHW champ, so if kessler wanted to fight him, he should move up....
at the time, dawson was still chasing fights with hopkins and calzaghe, who were both LHW's......now, neither of those fights are happening, so dawson is willing to move down.
your thread is FALSE.
You're grasping and not making much sense.
Dawson said he didnt want to fight at 168, and that he didn't want to get into catchweight fights, as LHW was his division and he wanted to make his career there.
However, now, seeing the limited options available to him now with Slapzaghe and Hopkins both unwilling to fight him, he has now come out and said that maybe he will have to go down to 168 to get some fights.
Circumstances have changed......and thus, so has his outlook. If he's looking to go to 168, I'm guessing Kessler is at the top of the list. Has he come out and said that he doesn't want to fight Kessler NOW at 168? So how about you wait and see how it pans out?
I mean, you seriously think Dawson is scared of....Kessler? He's already fought Adamek, Johnson and Tarver, so why would he duck a smaller man, who IMHO, he would beat comprehensively?
And considering the lack of names on Kessler's resume, I wouldn't really call someone who has fought Harding, Adamek, Tarver and Johnson a ducker.
most sensible post in the thread
the accusations are premature to say the least
let Dawson finish his business with Tarver and then see what he's saying
Your behaviour will make you an instant succes here on NSB.
FYI there where 2 seperate negotiations between Kessler and Miranda. In the end Miranda chose Abraham and ditched Kessler.
Your source isn't credible. ****************** is Kessler's american spokesperson. They do the same for Guzman, which is nuthug him to death
where in that article does it say DAWSON CHALLENGED KESSLER?
like i said, KESSLER CHALLENGED DAWSON, at 168 or 170....dawson said he'd fight kessler, if he moved up to lightheavyweight.....not a SMW, not at a catchweight.
Dawson's challenge has been all over the internet. It was also here on boxingscene.
You mean this:
OPEN LETTER FROM WBA SUPER MIDDLEWEIGHT CHAMPION MIKKEL KESSLER: "First, I would like to wish Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all my fans, indeed to all boxing fans around the globe. Here’s to a great 2009 with peace and prosperity for one and all. My purpose is to let my fans and all boxing fans around the world know my past and curre nt boxing agenda. I went from Denmark to America THREE TIMES in 2008 trying to drum up a big fight. I atten ded the Kelly Pavlik-Jermain Taylor rematch, the Bernard Hopkins-Joe Calzaghe fight and the Roy Jones-Calzaghe bout. I enjoy both Las Vegas and New York but those were business trips. My dream is to fight big fights in the United States against the best of the best..
Bernard Hopkins. Joe Calzaghe. Chad Dawson . Winky Wright. Jermain Taylor. Kelly Pavlik.
Six great fighters, no doubt. And, starting with ring legend Hopkins, six fighters who all refused to seriously discuss fighting me this past year. I respect all of them as boxers and great competitors but, for some reason, I can’t get any of t hem to fight me.
Now I know some people say I’ve been hiding in Europe and not fighting the big names. That’s not fair and that’s not true. I reg ained my WBA title, which is important to me, against unbeaten Dimitri Sartison and then fought a=2 0required mandatory against Danillo Haussler. I didn’t make Haussler the mandatory challenger but I did cut him down in three rounds.
Naturally, I am extremely frustrated as I seek bigger game. I am hoping that 2009 will be different, that I will be able to match my skills in America against the likes of the=2 0Big Six.
I’m not here to call anyone names or issue childish insults. That’s not the Viking Warrior’s style , people know that.
But Hopkins says he doesn’t want to hear my name although I’d gladly fight him at 168 pounds for my title or at a catch weight.
Calzaghe beat me on points in an excellent fight and has been consistent in saying he will never give me a second chance. He’s a great one but I wish he’d change his mind. He said he never gives rematches yet he gave one to Mario Veit. It was Joe who suggested I fight Hopkins. I agree but Bernard doesn’t like the idea.
Unbeaten Dawson is young and unbeaten. I would fight him at super middleweight or at a catch weight but he and/or his handlers are not interested.

it was around the same time KESSLER called out hopkins too.
