Has anyone ever been there, or been present at an induction ceremony??
It's in Canastota New York. I've seen some videos on youtube and they always have lots of HOF fighters in attendance. I have made this a goal for 2010 since this years induction is in June and I can't make it this year. It's a 3 day event and well worth it so I read. I just wanted to know if anyone has been to it?
you know im not so sure, i know Tszyu is a shoe in, and Chavez is a nobrainer. that be awesome to have the two top best 140 lb fighters of al time inducted in the same year. But if Chavez does get inducted next year, it is certainty that i will be there.
If you wait until 2011 then that's the year Mike Tyson will be inducted.
Well its not only about the inductees. There is so much more to do for the 4 days. Tons of other boxers etc.
I agree when Tyson goes in it will be busy.
i think next years inductees will have julio cesar chavez and kostya tszyu. im basing this on the 5 year retirement rule, but could be wrong.either way, going to see the gran campeon mexicano is be inducted is a must for any boxing fan.
Tszyu will qualify not sure about Chavez. I cant remember the cut off date. He fought in the fall so he may not be eligible for another year.
Do you think Tszyu gets voted in for sure?

Sorry just saw Albany. Thats not far at all is it? I would say its worth it & then the drive to Cooperstown is like an hour from Canastota I believe.
i'm not sure what the plan is, but cooperstown in a definite. thanks for the heads up. i went to the baseball hall once when i was like 5 or 6 and loved it. i'm 22 now, so needless to say my memory is pretty fuzzy. i'm stoked as hell. can't wait.
yeah, i was just looking at info on the induction weekend. looks like it it would be hard for me to make it this year. i've had this trip to the baseball hall of fame planned for sometime now, and recently the idea came up to hit up the boxing HOF too. would you say it's not worth it?
Where are you coming from?
Boxing hall of fame can be seen in a few minutes. The place is smaller than your average house. If you take your time & read all the displays etc it may take you an hour maybe 1 1/2 at most.
I have been to Cooperstown twice & its cool. Alot of interesting shops etc around the actual Hall. You can easlily spend the whole day at Cooperstown.
To really enjoy it you need to go for induction weekend. If possible you should try to make it one year. The actual Hall itself on any other weekend is small & not that interesting.

i'm planning a trip in august to the boxing and baseball halls. both are within driving distance from albany, so we're just going to make a weekend out of it. and it's in canastota because it was originally made to honor carmen basilio.

Why the hell they had to put it way upstate? lol
They should have put it in Vegas!!! I gotta go across the country.
