Viloria vs Solis, Fight of the year candidate?

It was a great fight. Nip and tuck affair all the way to the brutal ending. I liked JMM-Diaz better so far for FOTY simply because of the bigger names involved but Viloria-Solis is no less compelling to watch. It been a great 2009 for boxing so far.

Yeah I thought they were mostly borderline. Didn't stop Solis from throwing those body puinches though. Those looked painfull. Just watched Hagler - Leonard and they were both throwing real low, but no complaints. I need to watch that fight again. havent watched it in a couple years. I also thought all the punches were borderline and most of them were because Viloria was holding Solis's head. it kinda reminded me of Marquez/Vazquez 3, where really non of marquez's shots were low, just on that belt line.

No, because it wasn't really all that close, I think I gave Solis like 2 and 3 rounds at the most. I usually consider fights candidate of the year to be close battles. Vazquez/Marquez, fights like that

It easily was one of the best fights I've seen this year... Still I'd put Marquez-Diaz and Dunne-Cordoba ahead of it.

I was a great great fight, Definately, a FOY candidate, but you know, much people dont respect the lower Weights!!!sad but true

i had a feeling towards the 9th round onwards that the fight would turn out like meldrick taylor vs JCC... brian was connecting all night but ulises was investing a lot to the body... those were sum great body shots that brian took from him... brian was kinda fading but mustered enuf strength on that right of his to end the fight... props to ulises solis! congratulations brian!
