Is James Kirkland just the next Jeff Lacy waiting to happen?

Jeff Lacy never fought a Joel Julio-type before a Calzaghe. Lacy is highly used as an example to downplay US top prospects but that fact is Lacy was 16-0 with wins over nobodies...I never hyped up Lacy, I don't hype a fighter up unless he's got a good win over a good opponent...I honestly think Kirklands defense will get him beat up as soon as he fights an A class fighter....I'm expecting Dzinziruk to beat Kirkland. I voted for the wrong one, I meant to choose Yes he will win a world title but he will get schooled eventually/ Vanderpool and Williams were on Julio's level. That said, I think Kirkland is more of a problem because he's more active, he has more stamina, and he's a little quicker.

No offence to Anne Wolfe but I would love to see a Mayweather Snr or Roach get there hands on Kirkland. At the moment, I do belive he is better then Lacy, but I think Jeff had a better defence when he was at James' current stage. Kirkland has a very poor defence, and will likely be beaten the first time he comes across a good boxer who can take the power.

There are no counterpunchers durable enough to stand up to Kirkland at 154 pounds. Kirkland has more heart and is a much better fighter than Lacy. He already has a couple performances that are better than any of Lacy's as well.

Kirkland is much better than lacy and is not nearly as limited. Kirkland will be very hard to school a la Calzaghe.

imo he needs to get someone in his corner that can help him with his skills. not taking anything from wolfe but i would just keep her as my conditioning coach.

dont get me wrong, i like kirkland, but the moment he faces a durable couterpuncher who isnt afraid, hes gonna get beat..................

P.S. hes also very slow to adjust, iv seen one of his fights and he was repeatedly tagged by the right hand and had to be told by his trainer to avoid the right hand and keep his left up, nect round he still got tagged by it a few times before adjusting.

kirkland is a good fighter, turns up in shape, has good power, can take a shot he seesm to tire sometimes but that maybe down to his relentless style. id like to him moulded into a strong effective pressure fighter who can work the body and then go up top, someone who feints, uses his jab, closes the distance quickly with fast feet, uses powerful 2/3 punch combos and then spins off. i think he would o well to emulate a young mike tysons style but i dont see anyone in kirkland current set up who can really teach him anything. ann wolfe is good but i dont think she can teach boxing like eddie futch, mayweather or freddie do. right now he seems content with KO'ing ppl left, right and centre and if he continues like that then the kirkland hype train will be derailed very quickly.

No he's better then Lacy. He's more relentless and a more effective pressure fighter. He's doing fine. He had an impressive win against Julio. I think he has a chance to be a great fighter. Honestly if Margarito can get to Williams, i have no doubts that Kirkland can.
