Just kept thinking to myself when i saw everyone talkin about calzaghe...and how he only beat a "43 year old B-Hop", who had been takin out his oponents in good fashion...and even after the defeat to calzaghe (which in some peoples eyes was B-Hops win) B-Hop went on to batter a very good fighter (Pavlik, althought pavlik did move up weights for the bout) proving he still has it, obviously way past his prime tho.
So the question is...When was Calzaghe in his prime? What point of his career do you think he was at his best?
Its hard for me to say as every fight ive seen him in he still seemed like he was boxing so well he never got out of his prime...but he obviously had to..
If I called you a moron would you take it as joking? Anyway! You asked when he was in his prime....And I was saying He never fought a notable guy for all to determine when his prime was. He fought Jones and BHOP over 40 that didn't do much here in the states for a legacy or good rep. Thus is why he gets a lot of bad Hype. I know Boxing isn't big over there like it is in the states. Its easy for his fans to glorify his mediocre achievements. In the boxing world retiring before you beat the best isn't a way to be called the best. How can we Know when he was in his Prime. It may be now. How do you get to your prime...That comes later than others some get old faster. How are we to know ....Why you think Most people say LACY! Because it was a well known fighter....From the US....Some time ago. So people assume that was his prime. Turned out Lacy is a overrated hype job Bum!!!! In short I was saying all this. I wasnt rude nor did i dis respect you . ok you fu(kin Moron....oh just kidding or Banter!
Lol ok fair enough, the banter was more about the baby bottle...(n i laughed at the last line) alrite il take it back, ok? Back on point ok thats a fair enough answer...i understand wht u mean, if u dont think hes fought good enough opponents for all we know his prime could be now...
But i still dont think its fair the fact people talk as if he could of fought any1 he wanted, because i know even if he tried his best he wasnt going to get a fight with RJJ or B-Hop...cos there couldnt of been enough money in it and we know how these 2 would be with that lol...
But the only reason i said around the Lacy fight was because the fact you could see he had that little bit more energy in him, wasnt sloppy around that time in all the fights he was in, and i disagree with daggum saying any punch would of put Eubank down....He wouldnt of said its the hardest punch hes ever felt...if it was just him being "offbalance"
And i know from watching him he had alot more power back in the day, maybe not HUGE amounts, but i mean he would hurt people alot more if he didnt have to many hand problems.
Hmmm...But theres always going to be fresh names...he beats B-Hop...OK well he will not beat .. So and so.
Boxings always gonna be like that, but if hes at his best years before...why should he continue fighting even after hes fought moved up a weight and defended that belt.
Well its hard for me to expect someone being serious about an insult when they came onto a thread and said something completely irrelevant, at least answer my question if your going to say something on the thread. By the way its called Banter...joking around.

prime calz is probable a calz with good hands and didn't slap
this shows how many people never watch calzaghe's career. he always slapped. always. in fact you can hear the uk commentators saying he doesn't turn his punches over(aka slapping) in his early fights. the hand stories are most likely lies to pull out of fights cause he was insecure and scared like he did against glen johnson twice.

Chris Eubank had an unbelievable Chin n went down to a flush shot from calzaghe...
he pulled straight back and was off balance. a jab would have put him down. power is not defined by knocking someone over when they are off balance. he wasn't hurt at all. not to mention he was shot.
no he always was a decision fighter. he has no power. virtually all of his stoppages before and after the phantom hand injury were terrible. you would notice if you actually watch his early fights he fights exactly the same. can someone please name some fights where he demonstrated great power against real opponents? he hits guys flush and nothing happens. i'll give him mger mtchkian(can) and mario veit(supercan) 1 as legit stoppages. any other fights? nope. sven ottke had more power. he laid mundine out for the count.

I think Calzaghe was his best a few years before the Kessler fight but he wasn't fighting ANYONE equal to his skill.....hell he never has, the only fighter in my opinion equal to his abbilities is Chad Dawson........Dawson aint on Calzaghe's level but thats kuz he hasn't had the opportunity

So you take back the insult and replace it with a belittling baby bottle. Nice. So its hard for me to give any respect and answer your question without being out of line. If this is how you choose to engage.. fine. Its a easy question with an easy answer.

One of the funniest GIFs I've ever seen. Looks like Joe Slaps doesn't know where he is after getting clocked.
i know he got hit so hard he pretended like he won the fight lol!
I think he was in his prime before he broke his hand then he changed his style and became a decision-winning fighter. To me I think when he fought Kessler, Hopkins and Jones, he was already out of his prime. Just my opinion.

i didnt like Calzaghe at all but back to the point........i think he was in his prime since his fight with Lacy and even when he retired he was at his prime

1.Cut out the hating
2. He wasnt given big enough fights earlier cos its harder when your in england to get over to the states...he proved himself to us...and to alot of americans, just alot still doubt him, he never ran anywhere he did somin smart and retired...
3. Your an idiot
dude is right he only fought a couple of good fighters most being past their prime:
1.Eubank was way past his prime so was RJJ and he didnt prove anything against B-Hop because it was close.
2.Lacy was quite overrated and so was Kessler they both hadn't fought anyone with a name.
3.I give him cred for not runnin with the style he had but I didnt like that he slapped and didnt get in trouble for it and that he retired too early and that he actually believed he was a great champion and people actually believed he was when he ducked and never fought true champions like Dawson, Pavlik, Taylor, & Abraham; if he would have beat at least two of the four mentioned then I would give him credit.
4.If he would have stayed I believ he would have fought other "Old and or Past Prime Fighters" like Winky, Tarver, & Woods and would've ducked Glen Johnson
Lol ok ill take it back if its really upset you that much :bottle:
But why come on a thread that clearly asking when was calzaghes prime, n then you change subject and say (In my opinion) a stupid statement.

I like how a lot of ppl think Calzaghe did all the ducking and that no fighter ever ducked him.
yea reality is tough to face. everyone ducked calzaghe!
I dont remember calling you a name or hating . Im going to give you a min to change your mind on that idiot part! I will be back

Second time I've seen this today :ugh:
Self-sonnage.
Lol ok
You're*
happy?
back on point...ye i know, i dont think people realise it was them that were ducking him if anything...boxing can be anoying now adays..its not the best vs the best...its "get me this much money n il fight u"
For example Khan...i like him i think hes a good prospect...but like some people said i dunno how hes got a title shot at lightwelter...but good luck to him il be cheering him on ^^
