I was flipping though the channels and this fight is on ESPN Classic. Seriously, people forget how good Hatton is. That guy could be a P4P top guy. People hate on him but he only lost to the best guy in the sport and he only struggled with a trick Southpaw at WW who is a big guy and vastly underrated. You add that rugged version of Hatton to the new version with Floyd Sr. and you might have a serious problem beating this guy. It seriously wouldnt be a shock to me to see him beat Pac & JMM in back to back fights. Then what can you say about him? He's going toe to toe with Tszyu and no one did that. He beat a very very good fighter in Collazo. Some say he's not the same guy who fought Tszyu but if he is then Pac could be in trouble.
I say it all the time but Pac is Southpaw which gives him a huge advantage. Hatton was killing guys but still got dropped by Magee or whatever his name is and that was strictly because he was a Southpaw and caught him coming in. I could see Pac doing that but its a tricky fight.
You guys all better watch out because I could see alot of feeling about to get hurt on these boards. Margarito already lost, Hatton could seriously beat Pac then JMM, and Clottey could seriously beat Cotto. What would the boxing fans & media do then? It would be mass suicides
it was aweful to watch and the ref was paid...that was the worst refereeing ive ever seen...hatton sucks....boxing is supposed to be the sweet science and he makes it so hard to watch..
I agree. The Refereeing was very one sided. I find a lot of Hattons fights not very pleasing to watch and sometimes they become a touch boring with all the holding.
5 divisional champ which means his skills transcend 1 division unlike hatton who's so 1 dimensional and unskilled. if he fought the kosta fight in the US, that old past his prime kosta would have still beaten hatton
the oscar fight was a mirage, this attitude of thinking he can fight bigger men, will eventually catch up to manny...dont get me wrong i like manny....but i think people think he is invincible is a myth...hatton has potential to hurt him, and hurt him badly...pac can do the same to hatton as well, but pac has yet to be tested above 130.
haha you call that featherweight division pac fought at the big boys?....collazo eats pacs heart for breakfast if manny got into the ring with him

well at least he has 1. hatton has 0... past his prime kosta and shot shot shot castillo are the only notable fights he has. he got schooled by collazo and realize his skills are only good for 1 division and convinced himself that he cannot fight with the big boys

IM definatly not going to feel sorry for Tsyzu like alot of you are. I remember watching the fight when it happened and even though I didnt have a dog in the fight, I was cheering for Hatton because he was man handling Tszyu the same way Kostya did others. Tszyu did that stuff alot in his fights too. He was always dirty in the clinches and tried to use his muscle to bully guys. He even did it in the last Mitchell fight. Hatton just did the same to him and Tszyu couldnt handle it.
I didnt finish rewatching the fight so I dont quite remember how bad the clinching was but there are 2 types of clinching. There are no punch throwing, wrestling type clinches like Hatton was doing with Floyd and then there are just physical fast paced clinches like Hatton did with Tszyu. I never mind those type of clinches. I dont think it stopped the fight or that neither guy could punch. I like that type of stuff, like how Hopkins punked Keith Holmes. The difference with the Floyd fight is that Hatton did it out of fear of space which made him clinch to the point where he couldnt even land a punch. Even his corner told him the whole time that he was smothering his own punches and Manny Steward was saying it during the fight. He didnt smother his punches against Tszyu. He just punked him and I can respect that
True, Tszyu wasn't a Saint either but I do think that version of Tszyu that showed up against Hatton was "flat" like Kostya said he felt. Leading up to the fight rumors were circulating that he was having a tough time taking off the weight while in England. Tszyu I think down-played it.
Even on the scales, he failed the first time and just looked ill. True, many fighters don't look to healthy when on the scales but I never saw him look that bad and his wife said the same thing.
At his age, his inactivity, and having the fight in England at the time it was held, I don't think it helped his energy. Hatton also had to make weight and fight early in the morning, but Tszyu's was a far tougher test given his age, inactivity, family life that had him in bed by sundown, etc.
Because of all that, I think Hatton felt that since he just out-muscled the reputed strongest in the division, it led him to believe he was Superman which fed right into the hands of Mayweather Jr.
Tszyu got tired by the mid rounds and Hatton started his pound game. I was actually surprised Tszyu held in as long as he did and still won rounds.
If Hatton would have looked at all of the reasons for his win like he was doing before the fight on why he would win, which he mentioned Tszyu's inactivity and age, etc. maybe he would have had a different game-plan against Mayweather Jr. and not went in thinking he could out-muscle him.
haha wow dude u live in a lala world....all manny pac does is fight washed up old geezers....last meanignful win was against mab the first time, and the human punching bag david diaz....past 4 or 5 years his fought washed up bums.....and hatton ko's oscar in 5-7 with body shots...hahaha

little pac gets his face rearranged by that old past his prime kosta tszyu

in-fighting is a skill, that's what you're missing. Dancing around and running might look pretty but it's no more valid a skill than good in-fighting.
you mean in fouling.. no that's not a skill. there's a reason cortez broke them up cuz it's against the rules
it was aweful to watch and the ref was paid...that was the worst refereeing ive ever seen...hatton sucks....boxing is supposed to be the sweet science and he makes it so hard to watch..
correction- old past his prime tsyzu. that's the guy he beat. not the great kosta
35+ years old, 9 rounds in 3 years and I think two or three surgeries on his body at that point which was part of the inactivity part. And, I hear he had to get another surgery on his shoulder after the fight.

Holding isn't a skill. I like good in-fighting, but hold like Hatton does is just boring.

watchin this fight..it just makes you realize how much power hatton really has....and people have been building up on pacs power....and kosta tzyu hit hatton good too....if pac took a shot from from that kosta tzyu...he goes down and doesnt get up
you gotta remember that hatton was allowed to fight a foul fest bout that night with the referee giving him extra help
BRENTLEY!
What are you doing round these parts, i hardly ever see you outside the aussie lounge!
You need to get out more. I used to post here way more. LOL.
2 words about this match: Instant Classic.....i dont think floyd, sr. has taught ricky anything new....but rejuvinated ricky, to have the mind set that he had when he beat the great kosta tzyu....just imo
correction- old past his prime tsyzu. that's the guy he beat. not the great kosta
I agree it is a terrible fight to watch, like most of Hatton's fights are pretty hard to watch. Little skill just lots of wrestling.
