I loved Diego but he had problems with not only technical fighters(Mayweather, Corrales) but he also had a lot of trouble with Combo punchers(Clotty, Castillo) and Marquez is both combined. I say this fight plays out like Dias vs Marquez. Corrales takes well contested early rounds, Marquez adjusts in the middle rounds, and Marquez finishes Diego late in the fight.
Discuss!!!
I love Diego the man could bang, and he had a warrior spirit...
I could see him putting Marquez on his ass, even multiple times. Unfortunatly Marquez would get up, and eventually would put Corrales down. Over the fight Marquez would be too much, and would take a late stoppage or a competitive but clear UD.
Even when you take the size diffrence into effect?
its like...
all of MP's KO victims... chico would destroy those much earlier...
im afraid ODLH woluld really kiss the canvass if it was chico landing @ him...
chico has more pop in a P4P sense my man...
i never said that man... i was just citing examples... MP's got more when he was still plying his trade as a young professional in the Philippines...
Sorry, man. I am referencing a previous post about Manny being a one punch KO artist. I thought you knew what were discussing when you posted your reply.
Wow I'm suprised Corrales is getting so much kudos that now you guys got me thinking I made the wrong pick. I wish Chico would have had a solid win against a top level opponent like JMM. Sucks that it never happened.
This is why I love this site and i'd green K all of you if i could!!
I rarely post here, but I had to when Corrales' name was brought up. For me, he is the ultimate warrior, one of my all time favourites. Interestingly enough, I became a fan after the Mayweather fight. I have never seen that much courage in a fighter, it was unbelievable what this guy would do to stay in the ring. One of the only guys, I would pay PPV for.
He did have wins against top level opponents - Freitas, Casa, Castillo. Those names weren't walks in the park.
yo man! sup?
you mean flyweight and superbantam
at 122 he was showing some serious power, at 112 Manny was just an accident weighting to happen (weightdraining with body still growing, obviously he would have had power over natural 112ers).
But the point is that Chico was able to knock ppl out just by landing one or a few shots. Pac usually lands for a while and destruction would naturally follow, even in the Lucero fight he was landing during the 1st 2 rounds. The KO was not a light punch though...
yeah... flyweight!
i agree chico, has more pop in his punches than MP in a P4P sense...
Yeah, a couple of one punch kos here and there is great, but it still doesn't make you a one punch KO artist, ala, Valero, Gerald Mclellan, Razor Ruddock, Foreman in the 70s.

wmute!!!
how are things going?
the super flyweight and super-bantam versions of MP has some serious 1 punch KO power...
i would suggest u watch the sasakul fight @ super-fly & the lucero fight @ super-bantam...

No one is denying that he doesn't have good power.
Cotto isn't a one punch KO artist either, yet he still has very good power.
Tyson was a one punch KO artist
Corrales was a one punch KO artist
Valero is a one punch KO artist
Julian Jackson was a one punch KO artist
Now those are true one punch KO artists. Guys that basically can be losing every round then wham put the other fighter's lights out with one flush shot.
Pac is definitely a knockout artist just not a 1 punch KO artist. Valero wouldn't need half the punches Pac landed on David Diaz to ice him nor half the punches JMM landed on Juan Diaz to KO him as well. A few flush shots might seal it against such poor defensive fighters.
I also think Chico's chin was highly underrated. Yes, he did get knocked down several times, but as I've said, he's only been stopped cold once.
Mayweather knocked this kid down five times and he kept getting back up, with a clear head and ready to fight again. To me that's a mark of a great beard. I guess you could say the same for JMM, who kissed the canvas 4 times against Manny but got back up and almost won the fight.
If they both have tough beards, the difference, then, is power, which a prime Chico possesses over a prime JMM. Therefore, Chico KO in 3 over JMM.
I never read that Manny had a 1 punch knockout power, and if I did I would seriously doubt the writer's eyes, since mine have never seen Manny ice ppl the way Chico used to.

Ok Ok I'll take your observations on manny and will digest it and research it. But I just can't let it go because so much was made of manny pop when he first broke i thought everybody saw him as a one of the few power punching featherweights back in the day.
Plus other than manny MAB was really one of the few fighters that ever knocked down JMM.
If I'm wrong I'm wrong and i guess i should just stop listening to all those boxing writers and analyst who rave about manny power. Im not trying to be an asshole about this but his power is what made his career.

You can have power without being a one punch KO artist, like Manny Pacquiao. Valero is a one punch KO artist, he can knock you out with the first punch of the night.
But Manny, nah....

What exactly are you trying to insinuate?
That perhaps the power discrepancy between the two is actually not as significant as some of us are suggesting?
No Im insinuating is that JMM is not as light of a power puncher as people are making him out to be.
The guy has pop too!!
when did he become one?
