:crying: David Haye has been crying to the media that he doesn't like the contract he signed to fight Wladimir. He especially hates the two rematch clause. Why, then, did he sign?
Was he forced to? No, he decided to.
Does an intelligent man sign a contract he doesn't want to sign? :lol1:
Why didn't he earn his title shot like Thompson, Povetkin and JC Gomez did, by fighting in a final eliminator?

Cuz its the easiest way to a title/money fight with the Klitskos. Haye has only fought twice in the heavyweight. Barrett is the only notable win he has so far. He is not even ranked by the Ring mag or other media in the top 10(except for the British Boxing Monthly, have him in the top 5). Which one would you rather have, straight to a title shot or fight other heavies to earn that title shot?
Why couldn't he go through a final eliminator, like Thompson and Povetkin did, and EARN the shot at TWO world titles?
I can't believe I read this entire thread but this comment really sticks out. Being that boxing has the PAST black eye it does, do you or anyone else REALLY sincerely, WANT to see these fights?? With exception to Germany (sighing) who really wanted to see Wlad's fights with;
Thompson or god forbid Rahman?? I'll definitely give Haye (credit on) this, "NO ONE WANTS TO SEE YOU FIGHT THESE MANDATORY BUMS". That said, we ALL know the modern landscape of boxing (good point about the "Rocky"analogy someone pointed out) isn't what it should be. Sometimes the wrong guys get title shots, sometimes guys who deserve shots don't get them..
That said, in the utterly pathetic Heavyweight division, what is really the "MONEY FIGHT" out there for Wlad or his robot borther?? Vitali/WLAD vs. Poevetkin?? Wlad vs TITTYerola??
Does Haye have a big mouth?? ABSOLUTELY but where I'm from, "closed mouths don't get fed". Atleast this guy while being an admitted "knockout" waiting to happen not only brings BALLS to the table but actually shows up in shape consistently unlike the bulk of the heavyweights (TITTYerola anyone and this guy is young).
At the bear minimum I KNOW we're going to have a fight that'll be entertaining unlike Wlad's fight with Ibragamov (way to slap Sultan's jab down).
IRONFIST, you know thats bullshit regarding inserting Vitali into the picture here. If these guys weren't related, what does one have to do with the other??
Lennox Lewis during his championship reign says-"If you defeat me, you'll have to then fight the IBF champ Chris Byrd, then I get another rematch". Again bullshit but this is whats happening here.
I give Haye a lot of credit in KNOWING he WON'T get a decision in Germany no matter WHAT he does, so we KNOW he'll bring the fight to Wlad. Something hm lemme see, Rahman (sighign), Thompson, Ibragamov, Brock or ANY OTHER ofthe lackluster challengers that "waited in line" for their opportunity with Wlad.
I don't mind Haye scooting up one bit
That sucks about the error. I hate when that happens.
If we get exciting fights out of this, then I'm sure the contract negotiations won't be as big a deal (but they're likely not to be forgotten by some). I just think that this deal seems to appeal to the hardcore Klit fans because it favors the brothers. If someone else did it to them, their fans would cry foul.
Cutting out the risk is a good business move, it just doesn't seem good or fair in what should be fair competition (sports).
People not liking the Klits does make some tune in in hopes to seeing them KTFO. But the irony is that the Klits are supposed to be the "good guys" in this match. They're acting like bad guys in the negotiations, IMO.
Now I see what you mean, your right.
Nothing more to add I guess.
Well if haye's such an idiot how comes he's got exactly what he wanted? (that being a world title fight in his 2nd fight at the weight)
he might have had to sacrifice a little extra in order to get it, but its clear that one fighter just wants to fight, and one did everything in his power to stop the fight from happening. I cant see how wlad could possibly be seen to have the upper hand now
Cool, thanks for explaining. I can see why the term is used a lot on here.
No problem, an example would be... if you lent me £20 and wanted it back by 2 weeks, and after 2 weeks I say "I'll have it back in a week", after that week I say "One more week" you would turn around and say "Come on now your beginning to take the piss!". :fing02:
Haha so true... the earring part definitely! I just don't like 4 and 5, the rest are okay... however 6 is unrealistic at the end when you hear the scorecard, I'll leave it at that and let you see it Man in Black!
Clubber Lang is god, taking the piss basically means playing somebody like there a fool.
Cool, thanks for explaining. I can see why the term is used a lot on here.
Than Haye is a dummy to sign it. :stupid:
Nobody held a gun to his head.
He could have fought another heavyweight, why didn't he? Remember, he promised he'd fight two "top ten" heavyweights before Wladimir.
I'm far from stupid, idiot.
Why do you cut off nearly all of my quote that is correct and respond to one thing you have an answer to? I have said, I understand what you mean by Haye didn't have to sign it... fair enough he didn't, but your telling me you completley agree with what the Klitschko's are doing? Like I said... the difference in purse splits could be understandable (to an extent), the rematch is understandable... but him having to fight his big brother, that should be negotiated on its own.
I made a big ass wall full of text ended up getting a error when I pressed Submit Reply so I guess I'll keep it simple;
First of all thats the point,
why let it get risky when you could be SURE of it?
Also so what if they don't like the Klitschko bros. Its not like they like him like this, also wouldn't it attract haters to see them getting KO'd?
That sucks about the error. I hate when that happens.

... but not the amount they are getting in comparison which is probably the most valuable fight in the Heavyweight division at the moment).

Um, what?
Err, yeah, you can. "Wrong", "right"? What is this, playground morals? It's the fight business. Contract is legal. That's a fact.
I never said it was illegal... I said it was wrong (yes morally), and plenty of people think the same.
I respect your opinion. I enjoyed it. But, yes, Clubber Lang had more personality.
By the way, off topic, what exactly does the term "taking the piss" mean? I gather it's British slang for something like joking when somebody is trying to be serious? Or is that completely wrong?
Clubber Lang is god, taking the piss basically means playing somebody like there a fool.
Then he must be very stupid. Nobody fights for free...
Check out the purse split... Haye barely gets anything compared to the Klitschko's (understanding they deserve more for being champion... but not the amount they are getting in comparison which is probably the most valuable fight in the Heavyweight division at the moment).
Honestly mate, I know what you mean by if he doesn't like it he didn't have to sign for it and all... but are you telling me you completely agree with everything that is going on?
You know, in a perfect world (or in a "Rocky" movie), this thing would have naturally played out in real life instead of at the negotiating table before the first fight even happens. Wlad loses and his brother sticks up for him and all the other plot twists come into play and we get to enjoy it all as boxing fans.
As it stands, the Klits now have a guarantee to have three tries to beat Haye. Like I said, good for them for negotiating that. Who knows... maybe Haye beats Wlad twice or Wlad/Vitali and never gives the Bros. a rematch. But if he does beat them both convincingly, they still get another shot. Yes, that favors the two-headed monster that are the Klits. If Klit fans want to celebrate that, then they can celebrate that. But it also gives people another reason not to like them.
If we're lucky, this thing turns into an exciting and memorable trilogy. That would be great. Plus, the Klit fans could then say, "See, wasn't it great for the Klits to demand the two rematches clause?"
Having said this, Wlad should beat Haye. It will be a major upset if he doesn't, IMO. But, yeah, I'm rooting for the underdog.

A bit far fetched in my opinion, that was one of there shit ones in my book.

You're calling Ivan Drago a racial stereotype? He had a hot wife (at the time) and was the pride of USSR. Plus, he was a damn memorable movie character.
But if you can't enjoy "Rocky IV" I feel bad for you, bro. It's an entertaining movie.

Why couldn't he go through a final eliminator, like Thompson and Povetkin did, and EARN the shot at TWO world titles?
The WBO would likely have set him up in a final eliminator with Arreola of Dimitrenko. He could have perhaps fought in the next WBC final eliminator.
Why did he need to take a shortcut? Beggars can't be choosers.
Why are you trying to make it sound okay, make it out to be a good contract. Everyone apart from you thinks it is a dodgy contract... I could understand a slight cut for not fighting in an eliminator but this takes the piss, Haye only gets the UK TV money. Plus, regardless of the eliminator bullshit... this was the most talked about Heavyweight fight out there and the best one in the Heavyweight division.
You know the contract isn't right just as much as everyone else... why deny it? If he fought for the title eliminator, who's to say they wouldn't pull the same shitty stunt?
At the end of the day, the lack of money Haye is getting could be understandable for not fighting in an eliminator, and I could understand Wlad saying he wants a rematch... but also a match with his brother? That fight should be negotiated on its own.
They are men, not robots!
Calling them "robots" because of some stereotype created by cold war propaganda is racist.

I actually liked the move, mo' money less risk, what do you want more?
Since people actually tend to believe Haye is going to destroy them, there is nothing to be afraid of, right?
