I hear people mention a fighter as having that typical european boxing style quite a lot it boxing.
What do people consider to be the definition of the style though?
They don't have the greatest chins, very fundamental, they like to throw a lot of punches and then they usually stay on the outside, they try to score points with the judges, not a whole lot of head movement. Just look at Enzo Calzaghe's fighters for a good example.
Thats actually a terrible description of a european boxing style, how the hell is the chin involved with technique and style? Europeans are actually economic with punches seeing as theyre taught not to waste energy. Lets indeed look at Enzo Calzaghe's fighters, how about his most famous one the unorthodox Joe Calzaghe.:wtf1:::tool::bryce:
On topic: In a nutshell, the textbook style is resemblent of the european style
That's exactly what I understand of it also. One thing I've noticed while watching the Europeans (Not the British but the fighters from Germany and Russia, etc.) is that they don't move their heads.
Yeah i have noticed this, Most Euro fighters tend to have the stand up stance.

No bend in the knees or back. Hands glued to the side of their head. Methodical workrate, but that is usually fighters from countries like Germany/Russia etc.
As Richie-G said Britain has a more varied style of fighters, but majority of British fighters are aggressive fighters. Very few British fighters are defensively sound.
mikkel kessler, wladimir klitschko are best examples. it's eastern europe style really.
fighters who fight tall, have good fundementals and have a very good jab.
near as I understand it: fighting tall usually w/ good technique and a high guard (but not peakaboo) but not much head movement
