I am not a nuthugger or fanboy of any of the fighters I mention below. This is just some stuff I have been noticing.
First of all Sam Peter was #7 last week, and now is #6 this week in the heavyweight rankings. And yes they do have the loss to Chambers on his record.
Also, I recieved the ring magazine issue with the top 100 P4P rankings. P. Williams was ranked #12 ahead of Hatton who was ranked at #13. Since that time, P.Williams has beat who they had ranked at #41 Verno Phillips while Hatton has beat who they had at #62 Malignaggi. Yet Hatton is the fighter currently ranked #8 P4P while P.Williams doesn't even crack the top 10. Keep in mind Hatton is with Golden Boy Promotions witch is promoting Hatton-Pacquiao. Also keep in mind Golden Boy owns The Ring Magazine. Are they trying to make the fight more intresting by having it be between two "top 10 P4P fighters"? This is just something that has been bothering me, since the ring is supposed to be the legit ranking system most people turn to.
And why Paul Williams, is the number 2 SWW, what he have done to be number 2? For me thats ridiculous also.
Well Cory Spinks was regarded by many as the uncrowned king of the division not too long ago. Verno Phillips beat Spinks, and Paul Williams went on to stop Verno Phillips.
Not to be a dick, but this is something a hardcore boxing fan shouldnt have to ask.
If you pay close attetion to their rankings, they pretty much puts, people who are recognize by casual nas, in other words ticket sellers.
If you want to see something ridiculous, well go to their WW rankings. They have Pacquiao as the number 5 WW. Too me thats even more ridiculous!!!!!!!!!!!!
Agreed. The Ring Magazine is weird sometimes.

Well, they do have Caballero in their P4P list and I wouldn't call him a draw in that division.
It's not that I think Spinks isn't good, but what has he done lately? I just checked and they have Sergei at #7, he has to be top 4, he is undefeated and has a belt, there is no justifiable reason for Williams to be above him at 154.....
Dzinziruk is WAY too low and I've advised as much. He should be #1.
can someone post a link to the ring online rankings page cause for some reason im searching for it and it seems to have disappeared!

This.
Hatton was always highly ranked P4P, but dropped due to his piss poor performance against Lazcano. He bounced back and entered the pound for pound. I think Caballero being there is worse then Hatton to be honest.
I don't really have a problem with Hatton being there. It's just weird to me that Williams was ranked higher and beat a higher ranked fighter, but Hatton is the one who shots up to #8 P4P.
There is a difference between divisional ratings and P4P and one should be taken FAR more seriously than the other...and it ain't P4P. The divisional ratings are still fairly strong and, since most fights still happen in divisions and fighters aim for titles in divisions, that matters most. P4P is nothing but a circle wank of the imagination.
This.
They got the loss on Peters record, so they updated that already. Darchinyan-Mijares has nothing to do with what I mentioned. Only fighters that do matter in what I mentioned were Hatton, Malignaggi, Williams and Phillips. In no way would Vic beating Mijares make Hatton jump ahead of Williams and Phillips to suddenly be ranked lower then Malignaggi.

They update them weekly...It hasn't been a week since the results. Peter will probably be dropped from the rankings or sore down to like 10.
The ring 100 is outdated now. The ring 100 was published before stuff like Darchinyan beat Mijares happened.
Golden Boy doesn't influence shit in the ratings. They haven't favored a golden boy fighter at all.

Don't they have Cory Spinks at #4 or somewhere way too high at 154?
Spinks was 1 for ages and he still was ranked high when Verno Phillips beat him because it was controversial.
I don't agree with all of the ratings, like Sergei D should be ranked higher, but they aren't biased imo.
the rankings are completely subjective dont read too much into them, the rankings between 3-10 are entirely debateable.
theres no doubt that the ring does sometimes favour GBP and its fighters over others, a classic example was when DLH was on the cover of it in the build up to his embarassment to pacquiao. marquez and vasquez had just completed one of the finest trilogies most of us will ever see but were relegated to a footnote!
They do it to hype up the bigger fight and more people will recognize DLH. It's the same reason why Pacquiao-Hatton was on the cover this month compared to Shane Mosley.

as for hatton i think he arguably does deserve that ranking
p.s. cant believe they had malignaggi that low in ranking, pre-hatton i had him as a top 20 or 25 at least p4p fighter
