why does Hatton think that is he beats Pacman that automatically makes him P4P #1. If he does bet Manny than that would move JMM up from #2 to #1 not Hatton. Hatton would defenitly move up on the list but he wont be #1. I wish somebody would explain to Ricky how the RING ranking system works so he can stop sounding stupid. he's gonna be one pissed of Brit if he beats Manny then finds out he's still not #1. LOL
its not just hatton, oscar says there will be no doubt. I think its not that important anyways, espescially as theres a 43 year old in hopkins at number 3. sure his victory over pavlik was good, but at a weight that pavlik was 10lbs over his best fighting weight. people seem to dismiss that. Every 1 has an opinion and nobody can be wrong because p4p is just opinions. bernard hopkis is up there on past glory in my opinion. I think that hatton should have a decent claim to p4p number 1 if he KO's the pacman as his resume will say he beat everybody he faced including a p4p number 1(pacman) and a p4p number 2 or 3 i forget(kostya tszyu) except mayweather who was the welterweight kingpin. Not much shame in that. People might say you need to conquer many weight divisions to be p4p number 1. In my opinion that is always a good thing to do, but if you are mike tyson for example, your only gonna conquer 1 weight class, so the multi weight champion thing is good to have but it doesnt mean you cant be p4p number 1 if your only a 1 weight world champion. I cant think of anybody other than mayweather who will have a better record than hatton. People might say JMM should be number 1 should hatton win. to that i say well maybe so, he has a great record and in my opinion won the rematch with pacquiao. Bernard hopkins p4p number 1? i dont think so, but again its just an opinion. mosley? i like the guy but he has lost 5 times. cotto? i think the Puerto Rico warrior probably will be p4p number 1 in the not to distant future. there are a few other fighters that might deserve a mention, but theres a few of my opinions for now.
Hatton keeps on saying this to get under mannys skin. In a "i'm coming for your spot type of way".. Hattons team seem to be playing a lot of mind games considering that there supposedly confident towards this fight
Hatton knows he aint gonna jump into the number 1 spot, how long as he been a professional, and many professionals/boxing people is he surrounded by?
I honestly dont see Hatton reaching any higher than 3rd.
Hatton took a severe drop in the ratings due to the fashion of his defeat to the hands of Mayweather and then the poor performance against Lazcano.
Even if he gets beat on Saturday by a SD or its a very close fight he may actually go up or not lose any place in the rankings provided his performance is a good solid one. Look at Marquez beaten by Pacquiao in a close encounter two wins later he his still in the running. Hopkins has been beaten 3 times in the last 6 fights but came back and beat his next opponent convincingly therefore he's still in the running (although his 10 year reign, moving up to light Heavy & being part of golden boy(ring magazine) has a lot to do with it)
Hattons return poor performance against Lazcano wasn't a good look therefore it cost him in the ratings.. maybe even as bad as a loss.
couldnt hav said it better myself

Hatton is obsesed with this shit.
P4P number one is not a Fukking title is a opinion, and in no way shape or form hatton should be rated higher than 3 if he beats Pacquiao!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
funny ass sig
Hatton is top 5 p4p if he beats the p4p number 1...
Period.
Especially a guy that has been on a run like Pac has....
If Ricky wins.......
1. JMM
2. Hopkins
3. Mosley
4. Williams
5. Hatton
6. Pacman
i dont think Pacman would drop as low as 6. maybe 3 or 4. but thats only IF he lost

No way Hopkins, Mosley and Williams should be ahead of Hatton if he beats Pac.
i think if you beat the best you are the best despite what your oppinion on his style is, it seems to me ppl only see the number 1 p4p fighter as been the man who has moved up through several divisions, i dont no if this is the case but if it isnt then there is no reason why Hatton cant have the number 1 slot, if he goes on to fight JMM or PBF and beats them then yeah he should definetly have it, oh but as PBF is as good as back PAC is number 2 realy i think.
that was a love tap flash knock down. Collazo actually had Hatton hurt
And yet Hatton didn't go down so he wasn't THAT hurt... Haters are frigging ridiculous!
Hatton knocked Collazo down as you can see in my sig and regardless of how close the fight was, Ricky still won!

Honestly, I'm a Hatton fan myself, but I stopped reading after:
You got to be kidding me.
Then you're pretty ignorant!
P4P is about who would theoretically win if 2 fighters, fighting at their best fighting weight fought each other, nothing more. It never had anything to do with moving up or down in weight classes.
Was Hagler considered a P4P fighter even though he never fought past MW? A HW could also never be on a P4P list using this logic, unless they're able to move down to CW and LHW...
LOL !! Hatton was hurt and wobbled by Collazo and escaped with a VERY close points win

P4P has nothing to do with a fighters ability to move up in weight, especially for small fighters who fight way below their natural weight and then are able to grow into their natural weights stopping in several divisions. Ricky was small as a teen and could have started at 130 or under and won belts at all those weights if that was his goal. Sometimes it's better to dominate your division than selectively going up in weight to fight hand picked opponents to claim a title in several divisions...
Hatton couldn't do nothing at WW huh? Ricky did manage to win a world title at WW over a damn good fighter named Collazo, that's hardly "nothing" now!

If he beats Pacquiao, Hopkins should be P4p #1...or Marquez. Hopefully someobdy else will get the spot though....Hatton does not have pound 4 pound skills when he says he can only fight at 140....that ruins the credibility of a POUND FOR POUND title, its supposed to be skills regardless of weight... which Hatton obviously doesn't have if he can't fight at 147 or make a lower weight. Look at the history of the title....Roy Jones, Ray Leonard, Robinson, Mayweather...these guys all fought higher than their natural weight and we successful....hence, pound for pound.
LOL...the only P4P ratings that matter are for retired fighters and it ain't a title. It's a debate.

That makes no sense at all. Marquez has been a FW fighter the large majority of his career. If he had been a 140 pound fighter and fought Pac when he was moving up, just like Hatton is doing now, he would have knocked him out both times. Marquez is P4P 2 for a reason. That is because he has successfully moved up in weight three times and been champion and the man to beat in each division. He has had two even fights with Pac who has been in the same division as him, unlike Hatton who has always been the bigger guy at 140.
See, if Marquez had been at 140 like Hatton he would have been able to move up to WW and win the title, then move up to JMW and be the top dog there too. Hatton could hardly do anything at WW, so your reasoning is incorrect.
If Hatton wins, Marquez is P4P 1. Do you think Hatton would beat Marquez or Pac if he had been a little FW like them? No way.
