Warren gives the signal at 2:04 approx...
Check for him in the centre of the front row. He motions for the referee to pay attention to the cut. Then watch the referee wait a few seconds so as not to make it obvious.
Now, do you think it is right that the winning fighter's promoter should have enough authority as to lead the referee to take another inspection. Maybe it's right...maybe its wrong??
Damn, that's some eagle-eyed shit right there. Good find. It does appear the ref looks at the slimeball wearing a suit in the front row and then immediately turns his head and looks at the cut.
I already posted my thoughts on the fight elsewhere, but it's crazy to me that some people can't see that the blood in the eye had an effect in this fight. The right hand delivered by Barrera at approximately 1:38 in this clip that sends Khan back might be looked as one of the few good moments MAB had, but would have Khan bounced back in Round 10 when his legs are no longer fresh? In a 12 round fight that goes the distance you can look flashy for 10 rounds and still wind up on your ass if you got a questionable chin.
If you look at the post-fight interviews, aside from the patched-up gash on Mab's head, he doesn't appear to have sustained that much damage. Yet Khan, who landed flurries and barely got hit, has a little welt developing under his right eye. MAB with two eyes in a fight that keeps going has a chance, man. I'm not saying MAB automatically pulls out a win, but he would have had opportunities to catch Khan. I mean, as good as Khan looked, and he did dominate every round, the messed-up eye was an advantage for him. I know that statement will illicit hate from the Khan bandwagon, but whatever.
I totally agree with you, Barrera's face wasn't even marked up from all those sharp shots from Khan. So it definitly would have been an interesting next few rounds, especially since Barrera was countering a lot faster than I had expected him to.
I still believe Khan would have won, but we will never know for sure now :( I honestly would like to see a rematch, I know many are opposed to this though.

Wow, the ref was looking right at Frank, and he signaled twice...
Hahaha, brilliant yeah. He should have done the Steve Smoger victory stoppage, down on one knee and open palm to the heavens. 'STRRRRRIKE THREE'
Yeah, that was the image in my head.
The Smoger stoppage.
Katsidis would be struggling, then Van would choke him out. 'There, there.'
Vann is a bent ref.
Remember Hatton's WBU reign of terror, Vann reffed every fight. They wouldn't let him near the Tszyu one, Vann would have caught Tszyu with a straight right out of the gate.
interesting
the fight feels fishy in some way
not that i'm making any major accusations, but Khan had a Hell of a lot of "advantages"... and waiting until 5th round to stop the fight, so Khan would get the W, was really foul in my opinion
'Get, that fookin' towel out, Go on Earl get him, get him.'
He should have waved it off when Katsidis went down....hahahahaha.
Jumped down on him and cupped his head. Stopping him getting up. Silently choking him.

lmao, his defining moment was the Earl Katsidis fight...

Maybe the ref was influenced by the actual signal, but it's not like he was paid off to influence the bout or else he would have waited until the fifth round. He checked in the 4th round and if the doctor had called it, the fight would have been a NC. He was just doing his job
Of course, I'm not proposing that he was paid off in any way. And you are right, he did check in round 4, which frees him of being labelled a cheat in any way. But my point was that it is somewhat unnerving if a Promoter can have an affect on a referee's decision. I don't think there should be a place in boxing for that. And the way Warren motions to him is with such authority, like 'I'm the boss here'
Take a look at 2.14 when Parris is out of shot. I wouldn't be surprised, if Warren wasn't taking another opportunity to shout for him to stop the fight then to.
Khan's chin has nothing to do with this. The thread is not closed.
The issue is the Referee may have been influenced by Warren's gesture to consult the ring-side doctor again (which puts more pressure on the doctor as it is a horrific cut and he can not be seen to put this man out to fight again). Warren's idea may have been that it was past the No Contest marker and Amir was free for the TD.
