The fight was a big thing for both parties.
For Khan, it was an opportunity to show the world if he had the ability to stand up to someone who knows the ring like the back of his hand.
For Barerra it was an opportunity to show the world that he can still fight.
However NEITHER fighter was able to prove ANYTHING AT ALL!
NOTHING!
We saw nothing in that fight. Okay yes was saw hand speed, but Khan has had that since forever. What's new that we didn't know? Seriously, ask yourselves some questions here when we look at the outcome of the fight.
Did Khan break Barerra down till he couldn't hold his hands up any longer and the ref had to stop the fight? No.
Did Khan beat Barerra so bad he was knocked out? No.
Did Khan consistently hurt Barerra at any time in the fight? No. (Even the commentators who thought Khan hurt Barerra had to correct themselves and say it was the clash that Barerra was wincing over).
Did Khan beat Barerras face so bad he got a serious cut that ended the fight? No.
So someone tell me what Khan achieved that is so monumental? The fight was a load of shit. NO REAL boxing fan should be happy about the way that fight went, only fanboys, which is what you'd expect. Can you imagine what people would say if it was Khan who got that cut? They would have NEVER let it go on for 5 rounds.
Now...to those who say the cut meant nothing because Khan was dominating Barerra etc.
When the ref/doc tells you they might stop the fight because of a cut you got from a clash of heads in round ONE, where do you go from there? Where does your strategy go?
Barerra was the smaller, shorter armed guy who really NEEDED to get inside to get to work on Khan. When you have a cut that is ALREADY so bad that the fight could be stopped, getting inside is suicide.
You cant go in first with your head because any rub/knock on a glove/arm/chest could **** your cut up even more and with the gash that Barerra had, getting inside would've shortened the time he had in the ring even more. (You can see evidence of this at the time when the fight was actually stopped as barerra had his head inside and was in khans arms. When he emerged with blood all over his face, the ref became weary and called him over to the doc and the fight was stopped.)
Instead he opted to try and stay outside and box/potshot from the outside against a faster, longer armed, taller opponent..............all with only his right eye to see out of for 90% of the fight......
Noone should be surprised that it didn't work .
The thing that really sickens me, is not the fighters (you can't blame either boxer for the cut that stopped the fight), but the commentators and peoples attitude towards it.
They were talking like Khan pulled off a really big win. Yes he looked good (against someone with one eye for 90% of the time lol), but what part of that contributed to his win? Not one part of his effort in training, or in the ring contributed to it.
It sickens me that people are looking at this like Khan pulled a number on Barerra. I'm hardly a big fan of either fighter (so don't bother with the sour grapes arguement), but I knew there was potential for a real big fight and I was extremely excited about viewing it, but it never happened.
If I was Khan, there's no way I'd be fully satisfied with that win.
As a boxer, there's no way I'd be fully satisfied with that win.
As a boxing fan, there's no way I'd be fully satisfied with that win, and I'm not.
That is all.
Wow lots of words lol.
The fight was a travesty. Yes, Khan looked good but there is no way the fight should have went past the 1st round. I have seen fights stopped on cuts that were not as bad as that one. I do find it ironic that the doctor waited until the 5th round to stop the fight. No way that happens in Vegas or any American venue.
You can't help but wonder.....
Even the British commentators were talking about that.
If it happened in America then all the british fans would cause an uproar because they would of spent so much money to go see it to be ended in round 1.
I'm British and I'm telling you, once I saw that cut, I knew it was all over and my heart sank because I knew the fight was gonna be shit from then on and it would end on cuts.

1.Did Khan give Barrera a hard time? Did Khan dominate the rounds? Was Khan defending correctly and not allowing Barrera to hit him on the jaw? I'm pretty sure the fight answer stuff for Amir Khan.
2.And why wouldn't Khan be able to take up the victory? That's like saying Prescott wouldn't be happy beating Khan because he never gave him a chance, or didn't go easy on him after his first knockdown.
Oh come on man.
1. Was Barerra having a hard time before the cut? No. Watch the fight again. And what the hell is with everyone praising Khan for keeping his hands up!!!!?!??!?!!?! What the hell is with that lol? That's the kind of comments an amateur fighter is supposed to be getting.
Here's some more questions for you.
Did Barerra suddenly start backing away from Khan all the time to protect the cut he KNEW was going to end the fight?
Was he backing away before the cut?
Could Barerra fight the fight he needed to with a cut that was big enough to end his chances less than two minutes into the fight?
2. EVERYTHING that happened to Khan in the Prescott match, was because of what Prescott did. Prescott stopped Khan. Prescot swung that left hook. Both men could see out of both eyes for the duration of that fight, and at the end of the day, Prescott can walk proud saying I KO'd Khan with my own hands.
Can Khan say that everything that happened in the Barerra fight was down to his own hands? No. He cant even put the stoppage down to his own hands.
Two totally different scenarios.
No,all I see is another dickhead hater.
lol even though I've said multiple times (even in my first post that you probably didn't read) I'm not even a fan of either boxer and that I don't blame either of them for the cut but that I still really wanted to see a good fight between the both of them.
Even though I said it was how other people were reacting that made me make this thread?
Yet somehow I'm a Khan hater. Okay.
I'm done with you.

Anybody with half a brain will take this win for what it was; a solid win for Khan, but he still has much to prove.
This pretty much sums up the whole Barrera/Khan topic imo. Khan still has a lot to prove, but Barrera's tank is definately gone, or at least, he's definately no match for Khan.
The reason I find the cut infortunate because Barrera had a tough time in there and Amir because he gets little credit for making the best of the situation??
But that's the thing.
Are we supposed to be giving such huge props and recognition to a fighter who didn't even stop the other guy with his own hands?
Are we supposed to be making such decisive judgements on someone who got ktfo in one round in his previous fight because he was simply making the best out of the other fighters tough situation?
If Khan caused the cut it would be a huge difference. There would be no doubt that everything that happened in the ring was down to Khans fists, but in reality, before the cut Amir looked good, but he wasn't dominating Barerra until after he couldn't see anymore.
What is wrong with you people? lol
Did you read the post? I asked someone to show me where Khan does anything really effective to the point people can say he was dominating Barerra before the cut other than clash heads with Barerra which makes him back off to the ropes, and this is your reply?
Jesus.
No i didnt see Khan hurting Barrera at any moment excepet with that lil step he took HAPPY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Calm down jimmy? shit,I forgot weak posters with short memories=Cunts.dont think I will give that a go anytime.
Me calling you "jimmy" was a response to you calling me a "muppet" and was backed up with other sentences that aided my arguement.
Your post about "wrestling" was a reply to an arguement about boxing with nothing more than a single line of text containing insults.
See where the difference is now?
Oh for the love of............
Do people even read the words in posts these days?
Did you READ my first post where I say that it's neither fighters fault that this happened?
Did you READ the post where I said the exact same thing to the person you just quoted?
Geez....
And yes...........he "did what he had to do", he beat a guy who couldn't see him/have to protect a huge ****ing gash for five rounds.
Awesome achievement by any standard I'm sure.
I never meant to make it sound like he did something impressive because it was not!! Khans has not showed me he is an elite fighter yet and by beating a blind man did no good for his resume so i wouldnt put awesome achievement but he just got by ..lets say with a lil of luck???or should i say CUT!!!!
Khan could have never hurt Barrera that man is made of steel but i saw the whole fight and cut or no cut Barreras time is almost done really!!!
What is wrong with you people? lol

WTF!!! did Khan referee the fight? he did what he had to do,and in all honesty looked good while doing it.I dont particularly like khan, but I respect the way he has made the neccesary adjustments to come back from his ko loss, and yet muppets like you still shit on him.It is not his fault the way the fight ended,or the way it panned out after the cut,but he still had a job to do.What was he supposed to do?Have a word with the ref and ask him to stop it? get a fuqqing clue!
