Just saying.
Abraham is a good fighter sure. But for real guys. All he has is a nice peek-a-boo defense and a big punch.
He's sloppy. Takes too many breaks. Has an egg for a body.
When he steps up to fight Pavlik, the conquerer of Jermain Taylor he will be outworked and outpointed for a pretty big decision loss.
So please be real. He hasn't proven anything.
I think Abraham is nor overrated or underrated. He's an undersized grinder with decent power and good timing, and has wins against decent opposition. He dropped dirrell and was coming on late in that fight. I always thought he should fight at middleweight.

Agreed. Pavlik via KO
Pavlik vs Abraham would make for the most entertaining fight of all the possible match ups @ 160
it's too bad his promoters are ducking everyone but honestly I think Felix Sturm's the best fighter in the division
Technically, yes, he is, but neither AA nor Pavlik wouldn't have too much respect for his power and so he would have to fight extremely careful. He has no great chin (not a poor one either, but Pavlik and AA can bang).
that would never happen
unless he fought andrade
I really don't think that someone in mw or smw can take a "killer punch" like the one in the Gevor fight. Even Calzaghe couldn't take such a punch (but Calzaghe wouldn't get hit like that anyway :))
That's exactly what I mean. I think AA gets to much hype from all those high-light-reel kayos and Pavlik in contrast gets too much flak for losing to a great fighter giving a career performance.
A fighter with good workrate, endurrance and footwork should outpoint AA. IF he keeps his chin down.
I'm one of his biggest fans (and wouldn't jump off his bandwaggon when he would loose), but you say the truth.
On the other hand: You have to be careful for 12 rounds against him. If you get caught by one of his "bombs" it could be over. AA will always have his puncher's chance and up to now it was always enough. Even in his fights that he didn't won by KO his opponents had a lot of respect for his punching power. This is no fake he punches damn hard.
All in all I don't see that Pavlik would be able to avoid AA's bombs for 12 long rounds.
abraham sucks butt all he has is a big punch........
elvin ayala won 4 rounds off his ass by just not being stupid and movig after outworking abrahams ass for a minute.....and almost went the distance....and its not like he got worn down, abraham just landed a good punch.......
What I said was true. I agree with the original post, but his resume is pretty damn good and shits all over Pavlik's Middleweight title defenses. Keyword here is defenses.
Let's look at the competition for title defenses.
Abraham:
Shannon Taylor (Easy gimmie first defense)
Kofi Juntah (Good contender, who beat Rubio)
Edison Miranda (Pretty good contender and highly regarded at the time)
Sebistian Demers (20-0 prospect. Not bad)
Khoren Gevor (4th ranked Middleweight today and gave him a good fight)
Wayne Elcock (Tune up)
Elvin Ayala (Has a draw with Sergio Mora.........)
Raul Marquez (Good veteran who upset prospect Giovanni Lorenzo)
Pavlik's:
-Lockett (Easy ass gimmie mandatory. Probably the worst since Morrade Hakkar)
- Rubio (Perfect comeback opponnet, but in reality was not that good...)
Next title defense.
Kelly Pavlik: Sergio Mora (How he's getting a title shot after a beating at 154 is beyond me...)
Arthur Abraham: Lujan Simon (21-0, but really....no one really knows about him)
So yeah Arthur doesn't have a godly resume, but he's been beating the top middleweights in the world. It's kind of like the competition of Hopkins and Calzaghe's resume, but MW is a lot worse now then it was then
Agreed. The examples I found was just a quick search and I absolutely agree on the quality of defenses so I might have included you unjustly.
Personally I do not find it justified to hype AA on behalf of Pavlik the way it has been done by some lately.
AA's wins might look good but still it's over fighters that wouldnt crack the top 20 in other eras. I'm in awe over Abrahams power but I do think there is a pretty straight forward formula for beating him. A formula that cannot be emplyed by the likes of Miranda, Gevor, Elcock etc. They simply don't have the tools.
Pavlik has much the better resumée solely based on him twice beating a genuine firstclass fighter. People put to much emphasis on his loss to Hopkins and too little on his win over Taylor IMO.
Abraham is tailor made for a high volume puncher who can go to the body. Why is that so hard for people to recognize?
Pavlik will dominate the fight, Abraham will lose every single round and have maybe a 15-20% chance of landing a lucky KO punch.
A quick look:

AA is actually not overrated, he is what he is.
Tight defense
Arguably one of the best chins in boxing
p4p power
arguably one of the best left hooks in boxing
underrated body puncher
does not waste punches
highly accurate
called out the no 2 middle, called out the champion
has fought 2 or 3 top ten middles
9 or 10 title defenses
What else can the guy do? And he is overrated? Because he is not active? why fix something that is not broken.
He is probably MORE underrated then overrated?
WTF?
no doubt that he is partially overrated by some ppl - especially since his win over miranda, it bought him to the attention of alot of people especially in the US. his first win over miranda is when i really took notice of the guy, in that fight he had a broken jaw but he still managed to control the fight and back up miranda, despite being tagged on his broken haw several times in the later rounds.
i dug up some of his earlier fights and he seemed very much like a wrecking ball - he had a big punch and a good chin but not much apart from that, a little bit like a a bigger version of james kirkland.
ovr the years hes polished up alot, hes adopted a winky-esque style. he keeps a very tight guard and is very strong for MW, he can absorb a ridiculous amount of punishment. hes very thickly set and muscular across the back and shoulders, which translates into good power as well he has a monstrous left hook and not a bad right neither.
he is as mentioned very tough but in terms of techniques hes also competent. if he hurts his man he will finish him, if he tags pavlik and pavlik goes down hes best off staying down. hes also a more active fighter than some people think (a bit like clottey), hes not like calzaghe or pacman who constantly work behind the jab.
bottom line is theres only one way of knowing if hes the real deal or not ( and its not on these forums), thats in the ring and right now it looks like kelly and his camp want no paart of 'THE KING'.
