In an interview this week, Marco Antonio Barrera said he's only trained for 15 days. He faces Amir Khan very soon in what should be a very competitive fight. A lot of fans have been quick to assume MAB's heart isn't in the fight. Lets all vote and discuss what we think his motivation is for having said that. Poll to follow and hear is a video of the interview in question:
i've been a barrera fan forever. i'm suffering with a conspiracy theory.
the funny business going on with marcos last opponent rojas who was DQ'd
and rojas charges that he was told to lay down in the barrera fight or else.
i think barrera is going to lay down against khan for more money.
connect the dots.
just a theory. don't hate!
I think MAB is serious about the belts. I'm not 100% sure, but I seem to remember MAB holding up two fingers (representing his two wins) to Morales after the third fight. He's motivated by stuff that adds to his legacy.
I think it's the perfect storm of double noob. The interviewer was noob and MAB is a bit noob at English. Mt102879's post pretty much clears up any confusion, had to be altitude.
Yes, double n00b attack!

Barrera has far too much pride to do that. He's a warrior, and he wants to be the first Mexican to win world titles at four weights. And he looks fitter and more motivated to me than he's been since the Marquez fight.
he misundestood the question
cuz it was "how its camp doing" and he decided to let the people know he had been doing 15 days of mountain work, i doubt all he does its train on the altittude
yep, this is it
I'm also not sure it would make any financial sense to tell the public that you've only trained for 2 weeks when it's a PPV event that people are considering shelling out good money for.
Maybe the interviewer was just a bit of a n00b doing his job for some half-assed sport segment of a news channel or something? I'm not sure, but yeah you would think he would have followed up on that comment from Marco.

Unless he heard him right which was what you was saying bruv
I guess people didn't see this:
"MAB has already been in training for 2 months"
I saw that. I forgot exactly how long he said he'd been training. This should put to rest some of the doubt though.

As per Samurai and another poster I'm going to have to assume he didn't answer completely and was only referring to training in altitude. Odd that the individual conducting the interview didn't follow up on the subject.
I know you would of thought he would of jumped all over it...
Anyway my mind is made up now theres no going back..
Khan has no punch resistance whatsoever lesser fighters have dropped him
but im sticking with this young cat to beat Marco on the night..
I know its crazy but there you go i said it..
Yeh maybe it is...
Maybe his thinking that Khan will fall for it i just cant see roach having any of it..
We know he hasnt trained just 15 days
Unless he thinks Khan is that shit
But even then you just would'nt would you

I imagine that knowing something like your opponent not taking you seriously will cause an involuntary change in your psyche. I don't doubt Khan will not change his regiment but he might as a result of this news have slightly less fear of the old man. I definitely think it's a mind game before it's any sort of lack of professionalism on Mab's part.

To be fair, MAB said he'd had 15 days of training at altitude. He didn't mention the amount of time he's spent in training in total.
Ahh I didn't get the altitutude part. He should be fine then.
