Bob Arum told Maxboxing on Thursday afternoon that Miguel Cotto's next fight on June 13th is getting close to being finalized. "He's going to fight Joshua Clottey in Madison Square Garden," said the veteran promoter.

It's a great fight if they do actually get it on and I'm glad that Clottey will be getting his big fight.
...... because of styles.. this should be a good fight and i expect cotto to win it!:boxing:
well i agree that this should be a great fight indeed, both have the tools and the chance to win it, its going to be a great test for both, especially after the plaster story. I just have this feeling that Clottey's uppercut and style can upset Cotto someway like Holyfield upset Tyson back in the day (with all the differeces still both fighters have something in common...)
I'm glad cotto chose the right fight
I told u so!!!!
:boxing:
proving wrong a lot of cats here.......
thats the only route to greatness for cotto!! it start with clottey....
pac as a reward .... berto, if williams beats winky... then williams....
dont know about blown up...Corrales was killing himself to make weight before going up and was taller than Clottey who is not a small welter himself. Manny should be even more blownup than him at 147 and instead he was in great shape.
Corrales also started very well at the beginning of the fight landing a lot of body punches and backing up Clottey but was getting caught too much with strong uppercuts and overhand rights while doing it.
Clottey really in this fight has to watch out for Cottos jab because thats prolly his best weapon really, he can stun you with that punch and can def set up anything with it. If he can get on the inside, Clottey is going to be the bigger man and prolly the stronger puncher, even if he backs up.
i know clottey will be the bigger man... and yeah maybe stronger..
but... corrales was a blownup.....
he always starved and kill himself to make the low weight.. cos in reality he wasnt strong enough ...to hang with the big boys...
same shit.. will happen to caballero...... good.. reach adv.. btu not strong enough....
i agree with you that clottey will be the stronger one.. but not by that much...
either way.... strongess is not what is gonna win this fight.. it will be cottos boxing skills.!!
cotto clear UD... bring it on the hungry lion!!!!!
i agree with RL...... because of styles.. this should be a good fight and i expect cotto to win it!:boxing:
is not the same.. pushing a blownup corrales.. than cotto....
cotto by clear UD... .

i think hes going to tweak himself for Cotto, and fight against him more like when he fought Corrales

hes going to be on the inside pressing forward and throwing uppercuts...he can fight this way, just watch the Corrales fight...i know corrales was not at his best but Clottey did a great job on the inside against him.
Problem with that logic is Clottey doesn't fight with the type of pressure to back Cotto up. Once Clottey sees Cotto going on the offensive he's gonna shell up, that's just how he fights. Clottey counter really well too, but against guys who just sit there in the pocket, which Cotto won't do either.
Clottey has to up his punch rate heavily against Cotto is he wants to win.

Question is, can Cotto's stamina hold up? the blueprint to beat Cotto has already been drawn by Margarito, can Clottey examine it and perform it accordingly? that's yet to be answered.
History has shown us that Clottey can't fight that way....It's also shown us that Clottey gasses as well.
Clottey is going to be the bigger man, with the longer reach, and hes going to bring the pressure! He knows you dont beat Cotto by lettim him go to his pace and counter him, hes going to hit im a lot and stay on his chest, making him go backwards so he cant really punch with all his power.

Cotto, what can I say about this guy? He absolutely will fight ANYONE that is threat, we need more fighters like him in boxing.
We had margarito... he was the only man at welter that wasnt scared to defend his belt agianst Williams...
