Agreed.
I thought Bunce's rant was funny because it truly came out of nowhere but Kellerman's interview in itself wasn't that bad. He did his job.
I think Kellerman might have been told by HBO's producers etc to maybe even tone down his usually hyper self it anything. He just seemed more composed.
I just think that dude was jealous that Kellerman is Ringside for the actual fights and not stuck in some studio in the middle of the night.
I have disliked kellerman from the beggining now he is on HBO ruining the telecast there. he is akin to the poor commentators that were on Showtime, The fat black guy (When he was still commentating) and one or two othe rones. usually when Max is speaking I have to turn down the volume or do something else for a minute. Just hearing him speak is irritating and his wide-eyed over-excitable commentary style is about as fun as hearing someone scratch chalk on the chalkboard. Everyone says that foreman was such a bad commentator but he wasnt nearly as bad as this kid. (not even close)
I used to think Kellerman was alright, but his tone of voice and face piss me off now. He seems so ungodly smug and know-it-all these days, too. As much as I'm a fan of Katsidis, his nuthuggery of him even when he's getting beaten (i.e. Diaz) grates on me big time. There was a poster here a month or so ago who had a sig pic of Kellerman's face superimposed onto an owl - now every time I see him I go "hoot hoot!" :D I've still yet to find out who that poster was again...
Oh, and I'm probably one of the few who don't care much for Hagler-Hearns. Besides that opening round, most of the fight looked sloppy as hell and some spots downright irritated me to watch. I can't explain it very well, but I don't rate it much at all in comparison with longer drawn-out wars like Bowe-Golota I & II, Pac-JMM I & II, Chico-Castillo I, Gatti-Ward I, Katsidis-Earl, or even Cotto-Margs. I could watch those all day long and never get bored... Hagler-Hearns, on the other hand, made me think "is that it?"
I hate the way he tries to sound like Merchant by making everything sound flowery. It's men punching each other, there is really no need.
"Tonight was a fight between two battle worn souls. One soul was trying to escape his past, the other trying to carve his future. When two souls engage in battle only one soul can win. The one that wins is usually the best soul. Great fight. Did I mention that Paul Williams has 3 weight divisions paralyzed in fear?"
Fukn ROFL. He does hug the nuts off Williams ridiculously. That cannot be denied.

Ali-Frazier III
Morales-Barrera I & III
Vazquez - Marquez I, II & III
Hagler-Hearns
Pryor-Arguello I
those are just off the top of my head
If you honestly think ALL of those fights were better than Castillo-Corrales then you are mental.
Pryor-Arguello is easily the pick of that bunch and it is close.
Even if some consider those fights to be better, you cant say they are inarguably better, that to say they were better without doubt. Its all opinion.
Anyway, like I said I think Kellerman was simply talking about LW division fights.
Ali-Frazier III
Morales-Barrera I & III
Vazquez - Marquez I, II & III
Hagler-Hearns
Pryor-Arguello I
those are just off the top of my head
no way any of those were better
Ali-Frazier III is the best heavyweight fight ever but it's nowhere near as good as Castillo-Corrales I
Morales-Barrera I was a lot of pure violence but not sustained the entire fight. There was also a bogus knockdown call and the wrong man got the win, though it was close.
Vazquez-Marquez III hasn't been rated higher than Castillo-Corrales I by ANYONE, so how the hell could Vazquez-Marquez I would be better? You're just BSing at this point
Hagler-Hearns? 3 rounds. Corrales-Castillo I? 10 rounds of Hagler-Hearns.
Pryor-Arguello, are you insane?
Errmmm. He said that Corrales-Castillo was arguably the greatest fight of all time. I guess I could name 10 fights better than that before anyone could say gedebukkebensoverogundergeneralkrigskommanderesergent.
He also said that when there's a lineal title on the line it's the best fighters in the world. .... I guess he never saw the mighty Zsolt Erdei.
Castillo-Corrales I is definitely the greatest fight of all time. He is 100% correct. If you've seen one better, name it and post footage. Otherwise, you're full of it. There are tons of supposedly great fights out there that nobody has ever seen.

He was referring to the best lightweight fight of all time, not the greatest fight of all time (least the way I heard it).
He qualified both statements.... the first with "arguably" and the second with "frequently". Got to give the guy alittle bit of latitude when it comes to hyperbole in spur of the moment comments.
I don't like Max Kellerman, but that sound bite wouldnt make his top 10 worst moments list.
Agreed.
I thought Bunce's rant was funny because it truly came out of nowhere but Kellerman's interview in itself wasn't that bad. He did his job.
He did, but he could have gotten or at least tried to get a better answer out of him. Didn't ask him if he was planning on fighting in the states again or things like that. I think he could have.
I'm not really a Kellerman fan, but I don't think the John interview has that bad. Seriously, the way that Setanta **** wit was carrying on makes Kellerman look good.
Agreed.

It is laughable. Especially because that's one of his reasons why KELLERMAN IS AWFUL!!!!111.
There is somethings wrong with Kellerman, but he's a nice change of pace. He's young, energetic, and cares about the sport. He's a good anaylst/commentator.
Yeah, I don't love Kellerman at all but I don't think he is that bad. Ppl on here absolutely despise him though that is for sure.

Kellerman is - hands down - the worst commentator i have seen in 30 years of following the sport. The sooner HBO gets rid of this unqualified clown, the better.
I can respect your opinion that you don't like Kellerman, but to call him the worst in the last 30 years is simply ridiculous.
I think you can certainly mount a case for Castillo-Corrales being the best fight of all time. It is a topic where people's opinions vary but that one certainly isn't laughable. It just comes down to what you like the best about boxing. If you love unbelievable inside fighting, constant action and amazing comebacks then yeah, Castillo-Corrales I is probably pretty tough to top.

Yeah I have to agree there...apart from the 10th round, I didn't think Castillo-Corrales was spectacular. Plenty more exciting fights.
The best tenth round ever though.
I think he was an ass when he was with ESPN, but he's been getting better less unbiased.
I also don't see nothing wrong with the comment, he simply said the truth the sancioning bodies have become a joke.
