I don't remember anybody that big and that strong ever putting that kind of pressure on Pacquiao. Do you think he could have handled Diaz or would he have folded under the pressure?
He don't know, but I think Manny would beat Diaz, if Manny beats Hatton, especially by KO, then we know he could beat Juan Diaz.
even if Pac loses to Hatton, Pac will always kick diaz's ass every day of the week. no question.
I guess that why he went after David Diaz instead of Juan Diaz. If Pac wanted Juan, he could have fought him but he chose the lighter opposition.
It's funny you say that when he's going after the Lineal Champ for his first fight at 140. He went up to 135 after going to war with JMM and taking his belt at 130 and went up 2 more divisions to take on a light middleweight superstar in a fight where only a handful gave him any decent shot of winning -- all in the span of a year.
JMM for his first fight at 135 went up against a 37-yr.-old who should've lost any lineal claim to santa cruz and then barely escaped against b- Katsidis.
I think Pac would've defended the 135 trinket if making weight hasn't been taking a lot out him, and the opportunity to fight Oscar hadn't come along. Baby Bull also lost convincingly to Grandpa Nate almost 4 months before Pac destroyed David and right after that fight he was calling out Hatton before Oscar came into the picture.
No he wouldn't of. Diaz isn't that strong, he's just overwhelming. Pacquiao is clearly the bigger puncher. Diaz trying to smother him is playing with fire.
i think pac would have more trouble then jmm reason pac has alot of promble fighting on the backfoot but the outcome at end would have been the same as jmm a ko.
PAC would not be on the backfoot vs JD. Sure, he is a volume puncher but those punches doesnt have the POP to discourage PAC. Manny would be in and out, throw a 5 punch combos with each punch having bad intentions. JD would be dropped earlier and we would all hear the talk that PAC didnt fight top notch oppositon..cherrypicking opponents...JD was overrated...blah blah blah.
Funny...that always happens. PAC vs MAB 1, total domination. Suddenly, MAB was distracted. PAC vs DDiaz, again total destruction.Suddenly, DDiaz was a chump. PAC vs Dela Hoya, total carnage. Suddenly, ODLH was a zombie...Lol

Wrong! at that time Juan Diaz just lost to Nate and their was nothing to gain for PAC to fight JD...
You have to realize that everytime Pacquiao is matched with a good fighter, he tends to be the underdog. Pacquiao is a flawed fighter who gets "lucky" all the time. :DNot in my opinion. I have just never really seen him in with that sort of style. You know Diaz has the guile to make it messy for him. Shoot, he had JMM teetering on the brink at times (maybe a slight exaggeration but you know what I mean.)
I totally agree, but I do believe Hatton will be a hard test for Pac. Back when Pac moved up to lightweight his handlers werent sure whether he'd be big enough to compete at that weight so David Diaz was the more logical choice.
Juan Diaz wouldve given him a back and forth fight though and I think Pac mightve taken it by close decision. Nobody has stopped Juan before or even came close, he has never been vulnerable because of his tight defense. Pacquiao isnt as skilled a fighter as Marquez and woulve probably traded with him and be pressured the same way Marquez was.Top post, my friend.
Pacquiao looked flawless against limited David Diaz, and against twice against post prime Morales. Then against way post prime DLH. I give him credit for beating Barrera eventhough he had distractions first fight and just wanted a payday second fight.
Anyways what i am getting at, is that when Pacquiao has fought a fighter who is capable of defending himself he has loss or won a controversial decision, Morales I and both Marquez fights.
I think if Erik Morales first fight beat Pacquiao on pressure i think Juan Diaz would have a shot.

Pac beats Diaz but that doesn't mean we should just diminish the victory by Marquez.
Diaz is a tough fighter with a tough style to adapt to. Pac is too fast and would have beaten Diaz but he would make it tough for anybody.
Who's diminishing JMM's victory? LOL! look at the OP.
It's a shame we'll never find out. That kind of unrelenting pressure is something that you could compare the Hatton against Kostya Tszyu with, but today's Hatton no longer can stay that busy for that long.
In other words, I think the Diaz of Saturday night would pose a bigger test to Pacquiao than Hatton will on May 2...with the only possible X factor being Floyd Sr.'s training and these "improvements" I keep hearing about.I am John McCain and I approve of this message! :FlagCanad

IN fact, I was truly amazed at his performance. Every time that I thought Diaz was getting ready to get him out of there Marquez fought back.
Honestly, it was one those really great performances in boxing for me that only happen once in a while.

I think Pacquiao would have beaten Diaz as well....
